Hi,

Mr.Stratosphere you may be able to help on this, if not it's fine. I'm looking for some really old videos focusing on Big Shot and High Roller atop the Stratosphere. I mean, they've must of been from around shortly after the tower opened, they were promo like videos from 1997-1998.

It showed rider reactions in the Big Shot video, and the High Roller video showed it moving around the tower. It played some type of thriller, mystery music along with it.

I've been looking for them since 2003. I'd really like it if anyone knew about these videos, they used to be on the old Stratosphere site before X-Scream and Insanity came to light. So the old site must've gone offline in 2001-02?

Any links or help would be welcomed!

Chris

I tried that already, forgot to mention it. My Bad.

It had to be around 1997-98 because it looked like really old digital footage, which was "New" at that time. It had a bunch of cut shots of each ride in their respective videos.

If you wanted a little more accurate information about the videos themselves.

EDIT: I just called them and they said someone will call me back about it. Because I just really want to see them again, and want to have them in possession since I had them on my hard drive in 2002 and lost them in a rewipe of the hard drive in 2003.

Hey I do remember that video. I also have a DVD somewhere that has the promo for the tower itself. Its where lightning strikes the ground and all of a sudden the tower comes up. I will go and look for it, and post it here if I find it.

More of the details of the video came across my mind today, in the video of the Big Shot. The banner shown on the car said "Let It Ride!-Big Shot Stratosphere!" and the High Roller video had these old trains that just said Let It Ride! Stratosphere! on the front and the restraints on High Roller had no padding and the rest of the train was colored like a rainbow.

Did the Tower at one time switch the trains and improve the restraints?? Because I'm sure the Yellow trains were new-er, and the padded restraints were fresh because when I was on it they looked totally new.

also in 2005, when I went Big Shot was still the same besides a car based banner change and X-Scream and Insanity were well....themselves!

Hope this helps in making my request more clear!

While browsing the web I found this Big Shot Simulation Its not in English but here is the link

www.djjavixxxxx.net/index.php?id=simflash

When the Big Shot first Opened it had its original "Space Shot" banners on it. The ride was originally going to be called Space Shot but later the name was changed to Big Shot.

This picture here thanks to Joyrides.com shows the banners on the ride that were the oldest. Replacing the Space Shot banners.

This is an artist rendering of the original Big Shot Logo, except it said Space Shot

The Big Shot has had many little changes to its banners from certain sayings and themes they used to promote the tower such as:

"Live it Up"

"Can’t Top This"

"Blast out of this world"

And lastly always had "World's Highest Thrill Ride"

Pictured below is unfortunately the current state of the Big Shot

Its naked, no banners and from what I heard its the way it's going to stay.

The picture below is the old paint scheme for the High Roller. This was only an advert, the train always had OTSRs

The train also had a similar logo to this which said Let it Ride High Roller

This picture below shows the High Roller's train after a recent paint job and removal of two of the train's cars. Notice the restrains have not been padded yet which made for quite a painful ride. The train was painted yellow so the train could be seen from ground level.

This picture below was taken on High Roller's last night and you can see the padding that was added and the logo on the front of the train.

Did the Tower at one time switch the trains and improve the restraints?? Because I'm sure the Yellow trains were new-er, and the padded restraints were fresh because when I was on it they looked totally new.

The tower never switched the trains, however every year the ride would have an annual rehab where the train was taken off of the tracks and out of the tower for refurbishment.

I'm still looking for the videos and as soon as I find them I will upload them. Hope some of the info I posted helped out a bit.

Umm, MGM Grand Adventure closed in September 2000. I think you meant 2000, not 2001 because you've would've been at a plot of land. fun.

Just joshing with ya!

I was in Vegas just this February. I rode all 3 rides at the Stratosphere and found them pretty exhilirating (especially front row on that See-Saw one...yikes!).

I was told it had a coaster atop the Stratosphere that's been removed. Wouldn't mind seeing some old pics just to have an idea of how it looked.

I didn't went in the MGM Grand Adventure but we are just stand by the fence and look at the Lightning Bolt and Over the Edge. Yes the park is closed. I forget to told you about we went to Circus Circus Adventuredome too.

-March 2001 we stopped

-Adventuredome (we rodes) Lots of fun with Crayon Blaster.

-New York New York (roller coaster closed but just we watch) I want ride.

-Stratosphere Tower (we rodes) Scary the freak out of the ride!

-MGM Grand Adventure (watch by the fence) but that is so sad.

I remember to rode the Lightning Bolt in 1997 for my father's birthday and they send us to Las Vegas.
