HEADCHEEZ Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Me and my family are going to Magic Mountain for the first time on June 7. Because of the heat, We are planning on carring around a cooler filled with drinks and ice cream. Will it be allowed?
SharkTums Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 As with most corporate or chain parks, NO! You will not be allowed to bring in any outside food or drink. You can leave whatever you want in your car and go enjoy it there but no coolers allowed in the park. (Especially ones loaded up with ice cream and drinks)
Wes Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 No you will not be allowed to bring stuff in. From SFMM's official website May I bring my own food and beverages into Six Flags Magic Mountain? No outside food, beverages or coolers are allowed to be brought into Six Flags Magic Mountain. However, exceptions are made for Guests with special dietary needs to include food allergies and baby food/formula. Guest should contact Park Security or Guest Relations when they arrive at the Park for approval to bring in special dietary foods. The special dietary food containers will be marked and dated to clearly show that they have been approved for entry into the park. They will ask you to throw out any outside food and beverage at the security checkpoint.
PeoplemoverMatt Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I carry bottles of water in my back pockets into the park everytime I go in. They don't set off the metal detectors. I don't know if they don't notice, don't care or what, but I've never been told I couldn't bring them past the admission gates. *shrug* -- PMM
Goliath513 Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 Assuming they haven't nixed the hand stamp re-entry policy, you and your group could bring the coolers in the car, leave them there, and go out to the parking lot and eat at your car for lunch. My family and I did that several times at SFDK. It works great if you want a cheap day.
signal Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 ^^ ^^ He's right, I don't think they will get mad at you for bringing a water bottle around. If you bring around snacks and stuff, they might, but I have always taken bottles of water with me to all parks, and I've never had any problems.

Just because people don't get caught that doesn't make it right. Also remember that Robb and Elissa are considered ambassadors at many parks (partners in a symbiotic sort of way) and members on their site shouldn't advise people to break park rules.
PeoplemoverMatt Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 So what you saying is that you have never read the signs at the front gate or the back of your ticket. Let me check my Season Pass...nope, nothing about the evils of carrying a water bottle in my back pocket. Maybe you should check again. Just because people don't get caught that doesn't make it right. Also remember that Robb and Elissa are considered ambassadors at many parks (partners in a symbiotic sort of way) and members on their site shouldn't advise people to break park rules. Dude are you serious? I was talking about a water bottle, not vandalism. Go vent at someone else. I was hardly 'advising people to break park rules'... If that post was the norm for how members on R&E's site treated each other, R&E wouldn't have too many members here. Keep that in mind. -- PMM
larrygator Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 My apologies if my tone come off incorrectly. I don't think I came across as rude and I'm not looking for an argument. I'm just trying to help the guy that asked the original question. So I'll try to post in a more civil manner. I assumed the rules were on my season pass (I don't have it with me at work to check). However, even if the policy is not stated on the pass, there are still signs at the parks and regualtions on the website (as Wes has copied for the original poster). You are correct there is no "evil" in carrying a water bottle in the park. I never said it was "evil" just against the rules. I'm just asking that everyone respect the parks and Robb and Elissa (Elissa did already respond in this thread) by following park rules - many of which apparently are not on the back of the season pass.
dougr Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 No park has ever hassled any member of my family for bringing a bottle of water in. You can refill it at the water fountains, if you don't mind that unique SoCal flava. You can buy a 32 oz souvenir cup for about $12.99, free refills the first day (at least at SFDK) and $.99 a refill the rest of the season.
evil saltine Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 You will have better luck with an unopened bottle.
