thrillerman1 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I went tonight. There are a ton of light displays that you drive through to get to the parking area which was in the back of the park and a different area than they usually use for parking. Only Rumbler was open as far as coasters, and about half the flats were open including Shock Drop. It was sprinkly wet and warm (66 degrees!), and Rumbler was running really well. You can buy 50 tickets for 20 bucks or buy individual ones. I only rode Rumbler a couple of times which was 6 tickets ($3.00) a ride. Overall it's a great tradition they've started and I recommend checking it out...just don't go expecting all of the rides to be open.
Scaparri Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Well, I went tonight and learned a valuable lesson: Call the freakin' park before you go. I reserved a non-refundable hotel room and drove 250 miles down to the park, only to find out that they weren't opening the park and the only thing we could do was drive around through the lights... still at the price of $15 per car. That wasn't frustrating in the least. I guess I learned my lesson though. At least the gate worker was really nice.
sixflagsguy5 Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 That really sucks. You can never be too sure in the Winter I guess. I wonder if they'll be operating Rumbler in the ice storm that's coming through tonight.
Scaparri Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 ^From what I understand, no. The guy working at the gate made it sound like that for whatever reason, they just weren't opening the park last night, but that it would be open again today. But if you're going, again, I would call ahead. I'll never make that mistake again.
