My wife and I will be at Disneyland and DCA at the end of February. Do they allow child swapping on rides and how do you do it? Thanks, if anyone has any other suggestions to making our trip better, we would appreciate the info!

I would recommend you go with other friends too if possible. Or else it will get kind of lonely riding all of the child swap rides by yourself while one of you watches the baby.

At Disney an 8 month old can ride almost everything so it won't even be an issue most of the time!

Have fun!

^ So how did Kristen like Space Mountain?

Seriously, do take others with you. Grandma worked out great for us when Diana was that age. She wasn't much into riding, so we were able to ride together. Friends, aunts/uncles, etc. work, too.

Thanks for the info. We are coming in from the East coast so trying to get others has been a little bit of a challenge.

I did notice only a few height restrictions, but on all the other rides would you suggest carrying our baby on and sit her on my lap or would the baby bjorn be better? Any other suggestion?

How old will the baby be?

If they can sit up, just plop them down next to you and keep an arm around them. That's how KidTums has ridden almost all of the stuff recently. In the past I would just hold her on my lap. The carrier seems to get in the way on a lot of the rides.

Katherine will just be 8 months old. I thought sitting forward would be better for her to see everything as well, in the bjorn she would be looking at my ugly mug all day!!!!!

Thanks again!

I'm not sure about any of the "thrill" rides, but my little nephew who was then about.. 6 months went on Pirates and loved it.. (NOW he's seventeen months old.) So yeah, pretty much everything there is. Hope you guys have fun!

Not trying to be funny but leave the baby behind with family. An 8 month old at the theme park does not seem an enjoyable idea. I went to ride BoardWalk Bullet with my friend and 1 year old and got scared when he heard the train fly by.

^Disneyland doesn't have many loud wooden coasters that rush by... HUGE difference between a Disney park and an "amusement park".
But it does have coasters, If you do the "child swap" you have to be in the station w/baby...

^^No, that's not the case at all.

Child Swap at Disney works that your whole party goes up to the entrance and most get in line, while the person waiting with the baby gets a 'pass' from the cast member. Then that person can go anywhere they want, and at anypoint later in the day that pass is basically a fastpass good for up to three people total.

Trust me, I know all about the BabySwap policies at all the parks!

I can't wait to go on this trip now, it will be a bunch of first for our little one. First plane ride, first theme parks, first hotel. By the way, does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay? So many choices! We are looking for the basics, clean, close and did I mention clean?!?!
