DBru
Roller Coasters today are built with much advanced technology to keep riders safe, so.....why have there been so many accidents lately? Is it just bad luck? Is it our fault? Do more precautions need to be taken? IMO, coasters today have many safety features that aren't needed. Such as, seatbelts on Top Gun at KI, and OTSR on Revolution at SFMM. Are they needed? What has led to these extra restraints? Lately, accidents have occurred that no one would ever even think about. Take the Superman: Tower of Power incident for example. Would any of you imagined that a cable could snap, resulting in the loss of limbs on a drop tower? I know I sure didn't...... I guess my point is, even though we are taking all of these safety precautions, major and minor accidents keep occurring everyday. So, do you think roller coasters and thrill rides are safe????? Axman
Yes. You are more likely to die on the toilet than at an amusement park. However, if you're on the toilet at an amusemet park, then you're screwed.
spaceace12
As someone who got me on my first coaster. You are less safe in your car driving to the park than on a coaster.
onewheeled999
You know, I think roller coasters are 99.99% safe. They're designed for safety and fun. The only coasters that are designed to kill you are made by madmen (myself) in RCT3. The .01% that's unsafe is the tiny design flaw that nobody really notices, but after thousands of safe rides, there is some freak accident that nobody would have expected... like the snapping cable on the drop tower. But overall, like Axman said, you're more likely to die on a toilet that on a modern rollercoaster. Look what happened to Elvis!

So, if you take Silver Bullet at Knotts Berry Farm for example, I think the seatbelt attached to the harness is I think, for backup? So in case the harnesses come loose the seatbelt holds in the harness maybe? Yeah I have NO idea what I'm saying. I have a question : If people try to bring a penny or a quarter on a roller coaster[my friend wanted to try that by putting it on his lap] to test if it will fall with you[like on Tower Of Terror @ DCA] if the coin lands on a track such as GhostRider's and the wheel runs over it, is there a chance of the roller coaster derailing? XII
You're more likely to die falling out of your bed than on a rollercoaster.
Tmcdllr
Very safe. You are a million times more likely to have an accident in your car on the way to the park than on a rollercoaster there. I must point out though that they are only as safe as they are maintained, operated, and used correctly. Unfortunately, you cant stop stupidity and ignorance from causing an accident.
