youthink? Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Ok so I had the opportunity to go to Worlds of Fun yesterday because of the Haunt and it really exceeded my expectations. It was my first ever haunt and I just loved the atmosphere with the fog machines and the actors running around. The houses were actually scary! The actors were really enjoying their jobs and scared the crap out of me! Ok I'll get on to the review now. We left Omaha at around 8 in the morning to pick up my aunt and cousin and headed on down to KC to Worlds of Fun. Oh I should mention who's on this trip: Me, my mom, my sister, aunt, and cousin. We arrive there at around 11 and set up our hotel room, and then went to the park. I loved all of the decorations set up around the park, making the atmosphere better then it already was. It was very crowded, but that's to be expected with 80 degree weather and opening day of the Haunt. The first ride we went to was Patriot. This is my favorite invert and my favorite ride there! We waited about 15 minutes for the very back row and had an enjoyable ride, a great way to kick off our day. Detonator was next, with about another 15 minute wait. This seemed more scary then the last time I rode it, probably because the launch caught me off guard and the air up there was more forceful. It took my breath away too! Great ride. Next was the Mamba! We waited about 20 minutes for a row somewhere near the front and had an excellent ride. I love the air on all of the drops and the bunny hills, it was actually borderline ejector! Boomerang was close by, so over there we go! A 30 minute wait and we're on near the back. I don't get any headbanging on this ride, maybe it's just other boomerangs that do. I just love the forces of the backwards loop. Oh I should mention Timberwolf was down most of the day but I saw it running in the evening, but didn't go on it. Ok anyways, we got something to eat, and my cousin and sister wanted to try Ripcord, and I said "aww hells naw!" We set up a time for them at around 6 o'clock for their ride, and we decided to go back to our hotel to rest a little bit before the night ahead. We come back at around 5, and we had a craving for some front row Patriot. We hoped that it wouldn't be too long so they could go on Ripcord. Well it was about an hour wait and right when we got off it was exactly 6. But it was worth the wait and it is 10000000x better in the front. You feel so open and free. Ok so after that we run straight to Ripcord and they say, "Sorry, you're late." Thankfully they just rescheduled it to 7:45. We had about an hour and a half to kill and since a haunted house was already open we thought why not? We strolled on over to the short line for Lore of the Vampire. 20 minutes later we're in! Ok for each house I'll do a non-spoiler review and a somewhat spoilerish review. NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Ok this one was actually scary in some parts! It was very dark and very HOT. Maybe it's a vampire thing. They got me good in some parts. One time I got scared so bad and I fell on the floor! SPOILER REVIEW. This one actor was REALLY good, he knew just when to jump out and scare the living crap out of me. I never fell down in a haunted house before and when he popped out and snarled his fangs out at me I fell down and ran! There was a little outside section and I thought it was over and I was all "That was it?" But then you see some stairs and think "MORE?" But in a good way because it's scary. There was this one lady who was just sitting there and when I walked past her she screamed at me and I screamed and pushed my 9 year old sister through the next room. Next are I think some coffins, strobe lights, some other crap, and you're done. Very good haunted house, go through it! After that we had about 45 minutes to kill and strolled on over to CarnEvil. We saw Thunderhawk running and decided to go on that. In line there was this annoying girl and I was all "So are you going through Bloodshed?" and she said "That's my favorite one!" It never opened to the public yet! And then she was all "I hate this ride!" Then why are you in line for it? Ergh anyway we get on and the OTSR came on and that bar thing slams down and tightens on your crotch! It gets worse. Once it stars flipping you're so dizzy and you're becoming more and more sterile. Then when we were just hanging there looking at the water my cousin started spitting and I saw money fell down to the water LMAO! After that painful experience it was about time to go to Ripcord. I wasn't crazy enough to go on this, but my cousin and sister were. After waiting to get all of the equipment on they were off! I heard my cousin screaming on the way up and at the top my sister yelled "DAMIEN! DAMIEN LOOK AT ME DAMIEN! THIS IS ALL FOR YOU!" and pulled the cord. I heard the 2 loudest screams I ever heard and everybody looked up at them rocking back and forth, laughing at their terror. After that my cousin said "Never again." Since Patriot was right next to us, it was night, and I've never rode it in the night, we all wanted to go on one more time before the haunted houses. About a 10 minute wait for the second row and we were off! We had the funniest picture ever, my cousin got a little keychain with the picture on it. Maybe one day I can get a pic and show you guys. IT'S HILARIOUS! I'm just plain laughing because my sister at the top of the loop yelled "PATRIOT ROCKS MY PANTIES OFF!" and my cousin is like snarling at the camera. Everyone was pointing and laughing at our picture. We headed near the Mamba to see how long the Asylum line was, and found out it was a 2 HOUR WAIT! Maybe later. Since Mamba was by, why not go on it? 20 minute wait, and we're in the front row! I ahd the FUNNIEST guy behind me, just plain screaming and telling this one chick near the back to shut up it's just a ride, while he's yelling, cursing, and telling everyone he crapped his pants. Mamba is such a good ride, and much better at night. I had tears running down my face! We wanted to check out Bloodshed, and it took us a HALF AN HOUR to find it! We were asking people all around, but even the workers didn't know! Luckily this actor who just scared the crap out of my mom pointed us to it. Going there there was this guy with a trashcan and everyone was crowding around him. I was all "What's going on?" And then there was this huge banf and this monster guy popped out! I screamed so loud! Haha anyway we got to Camp Snoopy and climbed up this hill and finally found Bloodshed. There was NO LINE for it, we just walked right in! Maybe everyone was at the Asylum, but I think they should make it more noticeable. Anyway here's my non-spoiler and spoiler review. NON-SPOILER REVIEW. This surprised me! For its very first day, it was fantastic! There were tons of actors, good props and sets, a nice outdoor section, and once again I fell down screaming. SPOILER REVIEW. The best part easily was this giant pig coming out from under a curtain. It was HUGE! It sprayed something at me too lol. I was just standing there trying not to go in front of it. Then we saw this guy getting sawed in half and I started screaming when he came alive. I looked under the table and saw he was in a hole for the first half of his body. Didn't ruin the effect for me though. In the outdoor section there was this guy swinging above us, and a chainsaw guy chasing us through this tight section. All of the actors were trying to scare my sister, but she just stood there laughing, and I was screaming. I still have fried nerves from it. Great job guys! It was now about 10 and we just decided to go to the Asylum, no matter the wait. I like how the house is in Oceans of Fun. We were standing in line and this wolf guy snarled at me behind me and I screamed so loud and everyone laughed! These 2 punk kids behind us tried to cut us and I started yelling at them that I will call security if they do it one more time. Solved that problem haha. Yeah there were these security guys walking up and down the line. We waited about an hour to go in, and we were off! NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Oh my god! The scariest house I've ever been through. The actors were so in your face I was so uncomfortable! The amazing actors really scared the living sh*t out of me, and I was almost close to crying! The lavatory part was the best part out of any haunted house I've been through. So unexpected and scary. If you want to go through a house that's worth your time and money, this is it. SPOILER REVIEW. I don't really know why they gave you a flashlight, it was kind of pointless. Oh well the first part of the house are some jail cell scenes and it scared the crap out of me! The best scare of the house was when this guy seemed like he was standing in front of you, and I don't know how they did this but he was off to the side and jumped out beside you! I fell to the floor! The lavatory part was so suspenseful walking alongside the closed bathroom doors just waiting for an actor to pop out. The last thing you expect is a giant toilet exploding right in your face! I don't think my heartrate will ever be normal after that. Walking through the fog with the music was so creepy and there was this huge tall actor just standing there and you don't see him until you're right in front of him, and then it's too late to prepare yourself. Then I think you walk through a bodybag section, a hospital bed section, this TV room part, this sick experiment room with all of these amazing animatrotics, this padded wall part, and then it's the HUGE strobe light part with the jail cells. It made me sick to my stomach walking through there for like 5 minutes with these actors following you around. After that I think it's the end and I just ran out screaming, scaring everyone in line lol. The best house there. Well after that everyone was dead tired so we went back to the hotel. This is definitely a must if you're in the area, as it is actually SCARY. I did take some photos but not that much since I was having a blast. If you do want them just let me know, but they're not that good. This must've been the longest TR ever, so I'll leave you now. Thanks for reading! And great job to the WOF crew, you put up an amazing event.
Vffreak07 Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 That sounds amazing. You're so lucky WOF's haunt opens this soon. I STILL HAVE TO WAIT 2 WEEKS!
youthink? Posted September 23, 2007 Author Posted September 23, 2007 That sucks, but at least you have something to look forward too!
Vffreak07 Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Oh I have been since October 8th last year. (The day after I went to Valleyscare 2006)
Jive Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 It sounds like you had a good time. Saturday's get silly busy this time of year. I was still surprised by the amount of people since it was the first night of Haunt.
youthink? Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 I was kind of surprised too, but it was really nice that day!
bigjohnson51 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Ha I got lost for a long time in the strobe part of Asylum too. Everyone was following each other and nobody knew were to go. The Asylum people do a great job as well.
