coastb2 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I am making a mine shaft ride, and when I put a node in the air at a certen hight and on the grid at a certen point, the nodes want to stay on the ground. I am trying to make a solid floor for this ride. Can you help me? MINEDO~1-070828210532000.bmp overview
coastb2 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 I know, but when I try to place a bunch of nodes they don't stay at the same hight, and them I have to raise each node up to it's own place. This system of placing a node and raising it up, over and over again could take a very long time.
hyyyper Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 1. You can select mutiple nodes by ctrl-clicking or dragging a box around them 2. If you select a node at a certain height, all the other nodes placed in top view will be at the same height
coastb2 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 Thanks, and how is the ride looking? Do you like the mine shaft?
Tanks4me05 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Hmm, unless you have brakes along the vertical drop, you are probably going to pull about 7 or more G's on that drop, and I personally think you should do more with that layout.
coastb2 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 Well I don't want to have to make any more support floor than I have to. Mine Doom-070829101359000.bmp The start of the support floor.
Giovanolafan Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 wow...... That looks like a pain in the a$$
coastb2 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 I know, it is painstakingly slow, but it is worth it. I plan to build a high wall around the coaster and a custom station out of supports too.
coastb2 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Posted August 29, 2007 Heres a update. MINEDO~1-070829152148000.bmp More support floor.
hyyyper Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 you know ,there's a faster way of doing floors....use autosupport on a segment, then delete the autosupports but leave the catwalk 'alive'. Then you can move those nodes and you'll have a big floor.
coastb2 Posted August 30, 2007 Author Posted August 30, 2007 Well I am too far into the project to change the floor. And how do you change the name of the subject of the whole discussion?
hyyyper Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 ^by editing the first post i also wouldn't hurt to learn how to build 3ds, take a look at http://www.gravimetricstudios.com and knock yourself out
Vffreak07 Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 another easy way is to put the nodes close together and connect em like that, and then once you're done, you select all the nodes, and put them where you want. At least that's my way of doing it.
IwantRevenge Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hyyypers suggestion to use catwaks is the easiest way.
coastb2 Posted August 31, 2007 Author Posted August 31, 2007 Those things on the right are unfinished floor frame, which should go and all the rest of the support floor. Time to redo the whole floor!
coastb2 Posted August 31, 2007 Author Posted August 31, 2007 Now I have all the floor gone except the some nodes and was wondering, when you already have a full circuit track, how do you get the cat walks on just one section, not the whole track? I know how to change the global segments for the whole track, but not one segment. Is it possible to do that? Or do you somehow get the catwalk by itself and then stretch it to your project?
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 ^You double click the segment and click the auto supports button in the windo that comes up.
WDWliker Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Man that track looks Viewtiful*. Not that I enjoyed the view. *Viewtiful: Beautiful View
