Token Yankee Guy
So if any of you cared where I was last night I have a really good reason. Due to a car accident that happend about 6:15pm last night, all the neighborhoods off of Spoonville had no power. So during the evening I was sitting in the family room watching TV and eating my dinner, I and noticed the power going out in my house...So I got up and got my flashlight from my emergency kit in my car, at the time I was doing that the power came back on. I personally thought it was a little blackout due to the storm that was nearby, then 10 minutes later the lights go out again and stayed off until 1:30am this early morning. I was on the phone right away with my mom to tell her that the power is out (my parents are in VT so I was home alone with the pets) and thats when I heard sirens, so I ended the conversation with Mom and took my car down to the bottom of the hill to see police cars, fire trucks everywhere on Spoonville. Turns out someone cut her off (and that car took off from the scene) and the lady who was cut off went right into a telephone pole. She was alright, but the accident caused the inital black out, then when power returned someone told me that he saw the whole thing throwing off sparks, so CL&P had to shut off power to the entire neighborhood. I think this accident caused a surge or something in the grid because someone said that this accident even effected power as far as International Drive & Route 20 (thats about 3 miles away) Power was finally restored at 1:30am, but at that time I already went to bed since I was too tired to stay up. Oh yeah, this accident did draw a crowd since this is one of those moments in East Granby history where something interesting happens. But the accident hasen't made the paper or anything. the area in the yellow box shows what area was affected I had to resort to putting candles in the family room and read a book by candlelight... Watching whats going on at the intersection of Huckleberry and Spoonville. Cl&P (Connecticut Light & Power) trucks at the scene the car that hit the telephone pole. A new telephone pole had to be put in that night. fire trucks at the intersection of Spoonville and Huckleberry. The road was closed off at that point and down the road a bit at the intersection of Brownstone the accident happend right in front of the blue house

Token Yankee Guy
^ Haha, the last major thing that happend in East Granby before this accident was someone dying on the Farmington River. If you're not careful, you can get either seriously injured or die.
