Ccron10 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 For the last 31 years, this fair has been set up at my High School. Every year, a bunch of ghetto carnival rides are brought in along with tons of great stands selling any kind of food you can think of! This year's a little different, the world's tallest K'nex Roller Coaster is going to be set up here from what I've heard. It's height is 45 ft tall and is either a model of Kingda'Ka or TopThrill Dragster. In the next week and a half, I'll try to post a couple of mini PTR's of the rides, shows, food, and games. For now, I have the first mini TR of the fair being set up. Yesterday morning when I looked out my back window and saw a couple of white tractor trailer trucks down in the school parking lot (I live a couple blocks from the fair). In the afternoon when I was going to the movie theater, I found out that these were a few ghetto carnival rides. I came back later to find half of the rides set up, in which it seems too early to do this because the fair starts next monday. Later I went down, took some pics and got home before I get attacked from crazy carnies. Hmm. What could this be? Stay tuned for more photos and mini TR's. Zamperla through a fence!!!! A bunch of kiddie rides. Scooter bumper cars. This ride is lame, overpriced, and damn too short if I remember from last year. Zipper goodness. So, yeah. This is where it's going to be. It's not much now, but in a few days, tons of ACEr style foods will be along here.
MrMorgan Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Wait, is this something your highschool sponsors, or is it a county fair or something? My highschool never had a cool fair like that! Too bad theres no coaster
kidcoaster Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I remember in 1st grade when I was in Youngstown Oh. we had a fair but on a much smaller scale. I remember it was set up behind the high school which was next to the grade school. The only ride was a bounce house I remember it was shaped like a dog. And they had a couple food stands. My teacher took our class to it. Aw the good old days.
coasterdude5 Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Haha, my great great great great grandfather has a carnival in his honor, cool! I want a carnival named after me some day.
Ccron10 Posted June 30, 2007 Author Posted June 30, 2007 Wait, is this something your highschool sponsors, or is it a county fair or something? My highschool never had a cool fair like that! Too bad theres no coaster It's mostly a community thing that just located at my school. Let's see what happened today down there... A tilt-a-whirl was set up, the first few stands came in today, the Zipper is all set up and the tractor trailer with that ride has been moved onto the street next to the midway. I have a feeling that some more rides will be coming in tomorrow and Sunday, so expect a possible PTR tomorrow and/or Sunday.
Ccron10 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 I just got back from walking through the fair and I can tell that everything is ready for it's opening tomorrow night. Last night they brought in new rides! These are some that have never came or ones that haven't come in a long time, so here's the list. A drop tower, some kind of Tempest ride, a rainbow sideways freefall ride, round-up, and ring of fire! I might be going down late tomorrow night for an apple dumpling and a round-up credit. Photos will be posted tomorrow!
Ccron10 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 Okay. Here are the pics. these were taken on June 30, 2007 (Saturday) Another post below it will be pics from yesturday. The second midway. This whole fair is next to a construction site. If you look closely, a tilt-a-whirl! Zamperla... THROUGH THE FENCE!!!! The main midway. More stands are coming. Bingo This was taken 1 block from my house.
Ccron10 Posted July 2, 2007 Author Posted July 2, 2007 Pics from yesterday. Expect another TR sometime this week and possibly another one on Saturday. Comments? The rides over-all. Close-up Nice view. Ring of Fire and Zipper Yea Look familiar? (scroll down) Look! A drop tower! Lets hope no legs will be severed.
Reon Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Looks like a nice fair. The tower seems to be the same model at Ocean City, and that one was pretty sweet. I'd love to go there if I could have, but I'm filled to the brim with work this week
Ccron10 Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Ok, here's a photo-less TR of my visit yesterday. I was kinda pressed with time since I got down there at around 9:00PM and the thing closes in an hour. I talked to a few people here and there, then I went down to the midway. I did some walking around and bought 2 tickets for the Cyclone round-up ride. Most rides required 2 to 4 tickets. The Cyclone was 3, but since it was a special ride ticket night, every ride required 1 less ticket. It costed $1.25 for each ticket, so for that one ride, it was $2.50. I got on and there was only 6 people on it (including me). This being my first round-up, I kind of liked it, but it could've been a little more forceful. After getting off, I decided to ride the Rainbow (a circular freefall ride). It costed $3.75 and produced a little bit of airtime, but it was worth it. Then I went and got a apple dumpling with ice cream and went home. I kind of thinking of rideing the Zipper, does anyone know how good this kind of ride is?
odie Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 does anyone know how good this kind of ride is? Well I also rode the zipper for the first time about a month ago and I thought it was awesome! It looks worse then the ride really is onboard. Also if your not flipping around the corners your getting little pops of airtime! Overall the ride is one of my favorite carnival rides and you should definitely try it. Just empty your pockets before you ride
socalMAN123 Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 The Zipper is freakin amazing! You feel like you are going to fly off of the structure any second, which adds to the thrill. I've also gotten some sick airtime on them. My record for flips is six backflips in a row. I'm pretty sure they don't let single riders ride by themselves, so bring a person with you if you want to ride. ---Brent
mike541x Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 does anyone know how good this kind of ride is? Just empty your pockets before you ride Yes definitly empty your pockets or wear pants with Zipper (lol) pockets. If you have change and all that in a loose pocket you will loose alot of money.
Ccron10 Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Well, emptying my pockets shouldn't be that bad because paying for the tickets should take care of that. I think the ride requires 4 tickets which means it's $5.00 a ride! I'll try to keep my eyes open for the K'nex coaster that I've heard at too.
Ccron10 Posted July 4, 2007 Author Posted July 4, 2007 I kinda had fun last night, I didn't do much. Just helped out at a face-painting stand there, had a $4.00 peanut sundae and a $3.75 messy chocolate milkshake. Tonight (if it doesn't rain) I hope to ride the Zipper! I still can't find that k'nex roller coaster that's supposed to be here.
Ccron10 Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 The last couple days were filled with rain so I didn't get to ride Ring of Fire and Zipper until last night. They were AWESOME!!! Here's how they stacked up for me... Airtime- ROF- Everytime I was upside down, my butt was off the seat and it was even better when they stopped it upside down. 10/10 Z- I would get a few pops of air at a few places, but not that many. 4/10 Intensity- ROF- Not that intense at all, felt like you were on a swinging ship execpt you went upside down. 5/10 Z- This had to be the most intense ride (coaster or flat ride) I've ever been on! So much spinning and being glued against the wall. 10/10 Cost- ROF-I kind of thought it was a great price for $5.00, but $6.00 would be my limit. Z- I think that it was right at my price limit of $5.00. I wouldn't ride it any higher. Overall- ROF-Great! I got so much air and I liked it so much I'm gonna ride it one last time tonight before the fair closes. 9/10 Z-It was good, but with so much spinning, you really couldn't keep track of what was happening. I had a big WTF moment when I went to get in one of the cars thinking that there'd be seats like on a coaster, but here it's just a coushined wedge against the back of the car. I'd re-ride it possibly next year. 7/10
