Part Five- Afternoon Antics

 

After we ate lunch at our car we headed straight for Magnum, which, to our surprise, was a walk on!

 

Now that's what I like to see!

 

The sun wasn't in the best spot for this pic, but I still think it looks awesome.

I gotta say very cool TR so far - your dry humor rocks - and your mom took one kick ass shot (congrats). Now if I can only get to CP on a day like you had with little to no waiting - jelous here - lol!

 

Regarding MF, I kinda agree, but have found on my treks to CP that it isn't very consistant. I've had plenty of runs on MF with almost no air after the first drop of course - while last month we had GREAT "floater" air on all our multiple MF rides (go figure). Now if you ever make it to my home park SFNE, that's a coaster to be proud of even if the park blows. RoS has significantly more ejector air than Maverick on it's best day. Both rides rock imo (don't get me wrong). My top 3 are RoS, Maverick, and MF.

But I have a completely opposite point of view it seems

 

My opinion on the coasters:

 

Maverick - Awesome, my #1 steel

 

Millennium Force - Great, not overrated, my #4 steel. It doesn't have insane airtime but that isn't what makes it great.

 

Top Thrill Dragster - Fun and fast, very re-ridable

 

Raptor - Great, forceful although I prefer fewer forces it is still a cool ride

 

Wicked Twister - Fun, especially in the back

 

Mantis - Minor head banging for me, but fun and nowhere near the horridness people claim IMO

 

Magnum XL - Still great airtime, and despite what people claim I didn't find it rough at all

 

Blue Streak - Kind of rough, but the front provides a good ride (not more airtime than MF by any means)

 

Mean Streak - Ugh, who cares

 

Gemini - Showing its age some, but fun and when timed correctly and has some re-ride ability

 

Wildcat - Fun, underrated ride, seems much faster on the ride than it looks.

 

Iron Dragon - Not fast, doesn't swing a lot, but it is fun, and very popular with the younger crowd.

 

Disaster Transport - Very underrated. The theming in the que is dumb, but the ride is fun and would be really cool with pitch black.

 

Cedar Creek Mine Ride - Not the greatest mine coaster, but fun and kids like it a lot.

 

Corkscrew - It looks cool going over the midway, and as far as rough coasters, its head banging wasn't THAT bad

 

Woodstock Express - Eh, good kiddie coaster

 

Jr. Gemini - hehe

 

Other:

Power Tower - I love launch/drop towers although it seems to be the cool thing to do as a TPR member is hate S&S towers. Fun and re-ride able.

I think Magnum has been running great these last years. On my last three trips I found it to be as good as when it first opened - with the exception of special effects - arg. Why do they install the special effect and then let them die - I used to love all the smoke and lights (RIP). Oh well, imo, CP continues to have the strongest line-up of coasters on the planet. Of course MS being the exception since I for one like the occassional (and I do mean occassional) rides on DT. LOL

Part Six- Twilight Delight

 

I would like to end this TR with some nice pictures of Maverick and the park in the evening.

 

 

Rumor has it that they are really serving seagull at this place.

 

A little late, but the sign is seXXXy.

 

Too bad the stengal isn't as awesome as it looks.

 

It doesn't even give you time to.... OMFG AAAAH!

 

This wasn't a bad idea.

 

And this was a GREAT idea.

 

I love how you can see the water from the cannons in the air in this shot.

 

MF's supports glow orange from the falling sun.

 

Ill take you to the.... oh wait.

 

MF looks beautiful at twilight.

 

At about this time it was too dark to be using normal settings and too light to be using night mode. Ugh.

All pictures were taken on Friday, June 22, the only day I was there.

 

Did TTD get long during the afternoon??

 

I don't think it got longer than 30 mins all day.

I don't know what you mean, I agree with almost every one of those statements: I think Maverick is awesome, I really enjoy Raptor, Mantis is very underrated, Magnum is sweet (see below), Mean Streak sucks, Gemini is great fun, Wildcat is fun, Disaster Transport was really fun, and CCMR was fun too. Don't see how our opinions on any of the ones I listed above are conflicting with yours.

I agree. In fact, the airtime was so strong when I rode on Friday that it popped my back!

 

I wish you had uploaded the photos to TPR the usual way, as only half of them load for me.

 

I uploaded them to photobucket and then here so that I copy and paste the TR to other sites as well. I'm sorry the pictures don't load for you, but it saved me a lot of time to do it this way. If you want you can see them at my photobucket album.

 

And no, I didn't get that shot. By the time the sun was setting we were in a hurry to get out of there, we got a few last rides in and then drove all night to get home.

Nice to see you saved the best for last - your twilight pics were awesome. Wish there was more witty comments tbh. Cedar Point at night and/or twilight is my favorite time at the park. Cool and beautiful with all the lights! Thanks for sharing. After all six parts I can not wait to go back to the point, hopefully this month, definitly for Halloweekends! Do you like photobucket more than flickr?
