Wes Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Heads up! The Daily Show did a segment tonight making fun of the current spat between Disneyland and the city of Anaheim over a low-income housing project. It's pretty funny, I'd never thought I'd see a sign saying "Fellatioland".
Gnome Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 hmm... maybe if they build it, it could become like tweaker world or something. For the fireworks at the end of the night, a meth lab would explode inside one of the trailers.
chrisaaron Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I'm not a fan of a lot of the newer correspondents on the show, but it was easily one of the best segments I've ever seen on The Daily Show. It's online now at Comedy Central's website (since Viacom threatens to sue anyone who posts clips elsewhere): www.comedycentral.com/motherload/index.jhtml?ml_video=88103
jamesdillaman Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 pretty good. Who doesn't want to take a spin on "Mr. Toad's Wild Drive-By" -James Dillaman
Freefallbestrideever Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 It was great, I loved how they made fun of the other parks
Airtime&Gravity Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Since when did Disney build a screamin swing?(near the end by the "spinning crack pipes") I know the show likes to exaggerate, but was the housing project that far from the park, or is it close? I know Disney wants the best for their guests(although, I don't know how a $70 ticket is good), what is the big deal about having low income housing in the same area. Disney needs to understand that not everyone who lives there is a criminal. Oh yeah the show, I thought it was a good clip, and it did a great job of embarrassing Disney.(well the housing project too)
carolinacaniac Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I think the issue is that Disney wants the area to appear a little more "upbeat" and safe. I could see a family of 4 having just flown in and as they are driving to the resort, they may pass by the housing, and if it is not kept up well and the people are a little shady, then it may make that family feel unsafe. Of course this is assuming that once the housing is built that it would get run down by the people who live there. It is possible though too that the people who would live there were for the most part Disneyland employees, and may take care of the place, therefore may not have the negative effect that Disney is afraid of.
