I was at this event as a guest of Jarsh. Umm, Ok. Whatev. But thanks.

Though with early planning, I knew I would be hanging out with justin and family

40 bucks included Parking, access to both parks, one food voucher, unlimited drinks and exclusive Rampage ERT. Awesome discount and well worth 40 bucks. For ACE members it was 35.

It was an overcast day, extremely humid and hazy. At some point it rained. We all had a bit of trouble getting into the parking lot but managed ok.

My time was very limited since I was to leave by 7pm.

Due to light crowd in the amusement park, Rampage was always a one or no train wait. There seems to have been lots of trackwork done during the off season. Evident in some pictures you can see most of the first drop through the pullout has been retracked along with some support replacement. Throughout the coaster, quite a few highspeed sections and sharp curves have been retracked along with other bottoms and pullouts. As with most wood coasters your ride will vary depending on where you sit. When sitting over an axle there are a few rough spots (2) that might be a little uncomfortable. I believe the term is jackhamering. You might get three bounces. If you sit in the first seat of a car this is a non issue. There was good air on rampage this day as long as you were in the front or back. If I sat in any other car it was just an ok ride. I think if the trackwork had not been done I probably would be complaining right now. The first and last time I rode this coaster was 5 or more years ago. It was the season after it had just been completely retracked and the red/orange train was newly repainted with the flames and the blue train was still torn apart. I thought it was an awesome coaster then and I still do as long as it is a front or back seat ride.

On the drive to Alabama I have to pass the Queen City Truck Stop. You may, or may not find this slightly amusing.

After getting through the parking booth without paying, found a spot not far from the entrance. Totally overcast and hazy, you would think this would be great, but the humidity was so high I sweat like a pig just standing in one spot.

Not far from the entrance. Just around those bushes…..

The entrance and they little tin shacks where you can give them all your chedda

Course we don’t do that, we give a little chedda here to be special.

Here I am getting my ACE event materials

Justin and his brother. Sorry I don’t remember Justin’s brothers name so he will be referred to as Justin’s brother.

Hi Robert!

After putting on 10 special bracelets it was time to go check out some rides. I wanted to ride Rampage first but Justin wanted to ride something else.

First ride for Justin was the one called Mens room. I wonder why he looks so happy?

You walk through they main street to get to the amusement and waterpark. The buildings look good, clean and colorful. Once you walk through Main Street, that particular look is gone and is not carried into the parks.

Buildings on Main Street.

Nice!

More buildings.

More buildings.

When I saw this sign I first read Hor Dogs.

Then you can go right for the waterpark or forward to the amusement park.

Forward you pass what use to be a nice popjet but now it needs some major rehab and is pretty pathetic. Anyway, just before entering the gate for amusement park you pass they little carrotcell.

Another close-up which might become a 3D. Well, that’s why I took it anyway.

So anyway it was straight on to Rampage which is why we here.

This might turn into 3D soon

First ride of the day. Justin and Bro in front. Paintjob on trains still look pretty good considering it was done quite a number of years ago.

Next up was ZoomaHeadbanger.

On the platform, once you step in, they lock you behind bars so you can’t excape when you hear it gonna hurt like hell.

Justin’s brother is getting worried and tries to excape

I convinced him it was a great ride

While those two suckers rode I watched and laughed at they pain. Yeah, it is freakin humid and I am sweating like that just standing around.

So Justin’s brother says it like broke his spine here

I wonder if it possibly had a little to do with the wheels being worn down to the rims

Flames seem to be very popular here

Next up was they shot tower. This one was ok with decent air at the top. They once had a drop tower but it is gone now.

Oh yeah, There are some nice views around the park. Here is looking out from the shot tower area.

Leaving zoomaheadbagner you pass the left side of Rampage. Kinda sucks that it is difficult to photograph this coaster due to limited access.

Next up…….

CREDIT WHORE!

After the whorein was done we wandered round the flats. I am not a flat person cause I get sick too easy.

Justin and Bro decided to do the Mind Splinder. What eva the hell that means

Oh yeah, this is why we came here tho

Did I mention how nice some of the views are?

Here is they Sizzler, which they named Sizzler.

The boys passed on this one.

Here is they musical express tions

I think these are always so purdy

Picking up speed. Can you find the person NOT having fun?

By the way, this is why we all here

Here also be various kiddie rides n stuff. This little gurl got off sayin it sucked and she wanted to go back to ride Rampage again.

Next up, Log Ride

Here is the line. While we were waiting, a log got stuck and the ride shut down. We had to wait about fifteen minutes for them to reset it.

While waiting in line I mentioned to Justin’s Bro that I did not see any attractive peeps in the park. Just then I found one.

The line started to become shorter as they sometimes do when rides go down. Now we were able to get a closer look at the hot gurl in front of us.

Oh Dang, she decided not to wait!

Who knows how long it has been now. This guy had the right idea and relaxed for a bit. Then again he might be trying to keep his feet dry.

So we finally get on, and the boat is not draining and full of water, the ride is very short and the drop is very wimpy. Sorry but I think you should pass on this ride.

The landscape and trees are maturing very well though. The park looks great!

Did I mention there are some nice views around the park? This be they ferris wheel. The gondolas actually spin. If you want the operator will get you spinning before he starts the ride.

Next up was they rapids ride. It has two nice fast sections but for the most part it is quite tame and you won’t get very wet.

Here is the screws errbody been sayin they like so much. It would look WAY better if they were not totally enclosed in fence

Did I mention how nice the park is maturing?

Here is an Enterprise. Seems it is in rehab. The front was covered so we could not see in but I waited for Maint to both turn their backs then held my camera over the fence to give you this one and only exclusive behind the scenes photo.

Did I say how nice the park is maturing?

Here is Rampage. This is why we came today

Anyways, they be some more kiddie rides tucked into an area surrounded by nice landscape and mature trees. I didn’t even have time to step foot into the waterpark which I have NEVER even seen yet. I left at 7pm after dinner and a visit with Robert and family.

If you have never been to Alabama Adventure it certainly is worth at least one trip to ride Rampage. As you can see by some of the photo the park looks realy good. From a distance I saw the top of a waterslide and judging from the line leading up to it and the full parking lot, I suspect the bulk of the crowd was in the waterpark.

So you didn't stay for (what is in my humble opinion) one of the greatest ERT sessions in the country? 3 hours at night on that beast is hard to top.

Thanks for the pics. This was our favorite event to attend when we were living down South. It pains us that we can't attend anymore without a costly flight down there.

So I'm assuming that they were only running the red train? Was the blue one there but not just being run? I know that they have been alternating the two trains out every season for rehab work.

I didn't see the blue train. I assume it was getting rehabbed or just stored.

Yeah, I did not stay for ERT. Robert tried to talk me into it but i already had stuff i couldn't get out of sunday late morn and it is a 4 and 1/2 hour drive back home. Since the crowds in the amusement park was light i got in enough rides, enjoyed just being there and of course taking pictures.

It was a bit of a stretch for me and i was rushed to get stuff done including taking photos but was worth the trip and short visit for me just to get some Rampage rides.

I do suggest at least a one day visit for those who have not and may be close by.

Yeah, we kept going back and fourth on the enterprise issue. I have never seen a portable enterprise so just figured it was a roundup when it was suggested. I just went to the website and it is not currently listed.

That's cool. 3 hours of marathoning until midnight is definitley something that you don't want to have to follow up with early Sunday morning activities. If you've never done the nighttime ERT there though, definitley go back sometime. Rampage has the most incredible day to night transformation that I've ever experienced on a woodie.

Granted the screws look like crap from the angle of the photo i took. Looking at them from off the ride platform on the walkway,or from a distance around the park, they actually look good. They appear to push the rafts up the lift. They are simply theme and serve no other purpose than to just to look good.
