Sir Clinksalot Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 http://www.time.com/time/2005/100movies/ Most lists like these are jokes, and this is no exception.
FlyingScooter Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I'm surprised Raiders of the lost Ark wasn't on the list.
CoasterFanatic Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 The only list that is no joke. http://www.afi.com/tvevents/100years/100yearslist.aspx 100 Years/100 Movies list is right on!
Wes Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 It's not too bad. Still too many newer films. Anything thats less than 10 years old should not be on a list, simply because it takes a longer period of time for a movie's influence to trickle down into to language of film. There's some weird contradictions. Psycho but not Vertigo? All these lists are subjective, and the more mainstream polls seem to include more casual moviegoers favorite.
coaster1 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 AFI's list is much better .. I guess coming from more people in the industry than just 2 to 3.
DancingDays Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Finding Nemo??!!?!! Hah, I don't think so...and, A Hard Days Night...not quite. And Star Wars: Episode IV, when Empire is widely considered as the best film of the series... Yet, I do like seeing Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, and Dr. Strangelove, as they are some of my personal favorites. But I don't know about lists that give the films an order, as it's extremely hard to compare so many films to say whether one should be higher up than the other.
BelizeIt Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 What??? How can Trey Parkers (South Park) classic movie Orgazmo NOT be on this list!!! Time Magazine Sucks!
Jonathan Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I was very happy to see him put "Brazil" and "Miller's Crossing" on the list.
Movieguy Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 I can't believe they left out Alien. That film is a a sci-fi/gothic horror classic that still gives me the creeps to this day.
