ginzo
Lesson learned: do NOT go on opening day. The crowds were beastly today. The season pass processing lines were so long that you could probably have seen them from I-71. They really screwed the pooch with the Maxx passes, as I still have to swap my temporary Maxx pass for the real one. But, I wasn't about to do that today with the 1-2 hour season pass processing line. Fortunately, the temporary Maxx pass still works at the gate, and we got in without having to wait. In the true spirit of Kings Island, Drop Zone and Delirium both broke down shortly after opening. We only rode three things before leaving. Adventure Express: We rode in the second to back. This is still the best mine train outside of Disney parks. The Racer: Believe it or not, the Racer actually had some track work done in the off season. Lots of new track was visible near the turnaround and on the return run. The forwards Racer actually ran pretty smoothly today in the third to back seat, which is usually pretty darn rough. Although I am encouraged by this, there was ZERO airtime on the bunny hops at the end of the course. I hope that this is just them going easy on the new track to break it in gently. Scooby Doo: This had a long queue as always. There were several dead targets, and the targets were exceptionally hard to hit for a family ride. This is still a pretty solid shooting dark ride. I apologize for the lack of pictures. Photoless TRs are pretty lame to me. I'm going try to take some pictures when we return tomorrow.

Masked_Maverick
Have they added seat belts to any rides like Beast or the Racer? or Vortex? Sorry I haven't been there since 2003 and am curious for future visits.
scruffy
Have they added seat belts to any rides like Beast or the Racer? or Vortex? Sorry I haven't been there since 2003 and am curious for future visits. All the of Arrow coasters now have seat belts. The Beast and Racer had seat belts for some time. Also SOB got some new track in the loop area. I got to the park around 4 and all the major coasters broke down. I will post some pictures of SOB and Firehawk when I get my film back. Guest
What bugs me is rides that never had seatbelts for 20+ years now have to have seatbelts? When have you ever ridden a suspended with a seatbelt???

PKI Jizzman
^Are you kidding me?!??! Whyyyy does AE need seatbelts? I mean....WTF?!!! Stupid CF!
scruffy
So far the only coasters that don't have seat belts are SOB and Firehawk.
ginzo
I wonder if the insurance adjusters are having a field day with King's Island because of the accident last year. This could be the new order at the park: neutered coasters with excessive restraints. There's no way that a mine train needs seat belts. There are several Schwarzkopf coasters that feature inversions and only have a basic lapbar, and they've been running safely for decades.
PKIDelirium
CP's Mine Train has these same type pf seatbelts.

PKI Jizzman
^Read all of these things in this thread. I dont Hate KI, it is just really starting to piss me off. But the seatbelts on FoF an IJST are unnoticable....wait...does IJST have belts like FoF? Oh well, I am leaving for KI in 1 hour. Ill have an update when I get back. Edit. SOB new track. Thanks kiextreme. Straight track. Open Memorial Day Weekend?
ginzo
ginzo, why do you hate your home park? Hate is a strong word. Let's just say that their coaster collection doesn't do it for me. My favorite ride there right now isn't even a coaster; it's Delirium. I like airtime. The Racer, the only coaster at KI with substantial airtime, wasn't dishing it up yesterday.
