calcajun Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Below is a link to photos of the abandoned Lincoln Beach Amusement Park in New Orleans. This page also includes a short description of it's history. Not much info on the net about this park and very little footage of it. You can see some film of this park in a local documentary produced by WYES in New Orleans. The only part of this park I ever saw was this sign. The only reason I ever knew anything about the place was one day, when I was very young, my mother and I were driving by. I either said something about the sign, or my mother just pointed out the sign and mentioned it use to be an amusement park. She did not say much more than that. Here is the site with a nice set of photos of what is, or was left of the place in more recent times. http://www.surrealcoconut.com/urban_ruins/gulf/lincoln_beach.htm
coasterboy76 Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I've never heard of the place, so this was a very interesting post..
gnewton34 Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Did they have rides and stuff? That locker room was creepy, it reminded me of scenes from Candyman.
calcajun Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 They actually had a coaster, not sure about other rides. It was actually more of a place to go swimming i believe, with the big public pools and the beach on the lake. I think someone posted an old photo of the coaster somewhere else. I will go check it and and if so put it here.
calcajun Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Here is the photo of Lincoln Beach. I have no idea at what point of it's existence this was taken, but the coaster is clearly seen on the left. Something else you notice is the parking lot on the opposite side of Haynes Blvd. You had to walk under the road to enter the park.
Melonballer Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Fascinating. I always enjoy looking at pictures of old abandoned theme or amusement parks. Thanks for posting it.
DarkMeasures Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 That park would fit perfectly inside City 17.
