SFGAm vs. SFGAdv

We're interested in visiting SFGAm, but as frequent visitors to SFGAdv, I'm curious as to whether or not it's worth the stop on an already-tight schedule.

 

There are a lot of similar coasters (B:TR, S:UF, a B&M Hyper, an Arrow looper), and the one I'm most interested in (Deja Vu) is usually closed - is the rest of the park worth it?

I think SFGAm is a really nice park, one of my favorite in the Six Flags chain.

 

For any enthusiast I don't see why you would skip it. If you want, skip the clones (Batman, Superman) and the kiddies (spinning mouse, roller skater), but I love Bull, Viper, V2, Giant Drop, and have fun trying to get Deja Vu!

Just trying to save every day and dollar we can; with new management at work, and some recent hits on our wallets, we're trying to cut out some parks. We've already removed Michigan's Adventure, Geauga Lake, and some of the parks we've already been to (Kenny, Hershey, Dorney, Holiday World, etc.).

 

Three months to go, and we're still making changes almost daily.

 

Anyway, thanks for the help; we both really want to hit it, but weren't sure if it would be worth giving-up a different park.

Without knowing much more about your trip, I'd say don't miss this place!! And now that they are getting q-bots, you could probably do the theme park AND the water park in the same day

As Sfgadv being my home park, Sfgam is totally different even with the two clones. Sfgam has way more flat rides, a free water park, and a better atmosphere. It really is one of the nicer 6Flags out there.

Though I have not gone to Great Adventure, I would highly recommend Six Flags Great America to anyone. Its operations are very good; as is its atmosphere. The variety and quality of rides makes a fun, diverse park experience.

 

I go to Great America every year, and it continues to surpass my expectations. This is the park that should be the model of Shapiro's 'new Six Flags.' Even though this park attracts a good-sized crowd, it handles the crowd very well and has a large variety of attractions for everyone. The themed sections of the park are actually quite good for a Six Flags park.

Though my interest in this is not what it used to be, SFGAm and SFGAd are two parks that I want to visit someday, along with SFoT, SFFT, and SFoG.

 

And Cedar Point.

SFGAm is hands down one of the best SF parks I've had the pleasure to visit over the years. The park has great rides, classic Great America theming still intact, and Bull, Viper, V2, and Intamin drop tower goodness.

 

When you have Great America west as one of your home parks, you really see what a poor job Paramount did in preserving all the charm that made the place special. It was cool as hell to walk in SFGAm for the first time and see New Orleans Square, the berm still in place, trains still cruising the park, etc. It just brought back a ton of good memories, and we all kept saying how we couldn't believe this was a Six Flags park. It's really that nice of a place.

 

Edit....I forgot about the water park. It's amazing to say the least and shouldn't be missed.

Yeah, out of the 4 Six flags parks I have been to (SFMM, SFEG, SFSL, and SFGAm) this one is by far, the best one I have been to. The rides are fun and they have a great collection of flats. Even though many of the coasters are clones, they still have American Eagle and Raging Bull along with some of the fun clones.

 

Overall, this park is worth visiting for atleast a day (I would recommend 2) and the water park is also one of the best in the chain so I recommend visiting it.

I have not been to SFGAM but being at PGA I understand the layout somewhat and how it brings about an atmosphere different than SFGADV. I really want to go to SFGAM - You should go too! See what's up with the Raging Bull and compare it to NITRO. I'd love the chance to ride the train ride at SFGADV that was sadly removed at PGA.
