JimmyBo Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 My roommate Dan and I were bored one weekend so we decided to drive up to Castles N Coasters in Phoenix, AZ and hit all the credits in the state of Arizona. Now before you all yell at me, I don't count powered coasters so yes...there are only 2 credits in Arizona and CnC has them both. After an awesome time at the park we drive back down to Tucson and what do we find????? SNOW!!! In freaking Tucson. Ok, enough blah blah blah, here you go. Enjoy! Alright peeps, time for a snowman. Here's Mr Snow decapitated I totally stuck the landing! I could be a gymnist At this point, numerous amounts of curse words were coming out of my mouth Alright, now its my turn and I get the twisty slide Two things to notice in this picture 1) Dan has a huge @$$ 2) Look at where Dan landed compared to the base of the slide. Lets just say that he fly a good 2 feet before crashing his rear end on the ground Dan realizes that this is a bad idea but is already going down Dan about to go down the slide Yes, playground time...IN THE SNOW!!!! Walking across the field to the playground, snow everywhere Why is it a devil angel? It has no head Dan decides to make a snow devil angel Doesn't look like we'll be playing basketball tonight, unless we had ice skates Being from San Diego and then moving to the desert, I don't get to see much snow...this is so cool Shortly before my face hits the cold, white ground. Yeah...I ate it and it tasted nasty Looks graceful yes? Oh, but it was anything but that Since Dan and I didn't feel like walking all the way to the entrance of the school we decided to hop the fence right by our house...bad idea It's really coming down now...this is going to be awesome! So I put my gear on and head out to the school across the street Look at all the little snow flakes falling...looks like it's time to go and play in the snow... Yes! It's snow? Holy Crap! Snow in Tucson! We headed back to Tucson and what do we see falling out of the sky? Is that.....? Good-bye Castles N Coasters. Thank you for being the best theme park in Arizona! ... but the update isn't over yet... And more tree hitting. Seriously, that was the best part of the ride So we headed back to Desert Storm for more loopage More scenery around the golf course. I really liked the golf courses there...too bad we had to get our ride on again! So here's the "Castles" part of Castles and Coasters. Yeah, pretty big and you get to whack balls at it Well, here's BJ's Outhouse. Close enough to another H House but not Here's the Hillbilly house. Let's think about this...Hippy, Hillbilly, what other H can they think of and put the word House after it... Didn't distract Dan as he used his long stick to whack his balls at the Hippy house Here's the Hippy House, it was playing funky disco music to distract you Here's only a small portion of the golfing area. It was really big and had lots of scenery Ok, onto some Go Karts and Golf. ...as soon as you reach the top it plummits you down really fast! We rode it numerous amounts of times. Great ride in the park Here's the view half way up. I liked this style of freefall cuz it doesn't keep you at the top... Ready for a stomach pump anyone? Up 130ft into the beautiful sunny and warm Arizona sky Time for Sky Diver (their freefall ride) Dan tried to come up with an excuse not to ride but I forced him on They also some spinning and puke rides and Dan and I saw another kid puke after getting off this ride. I love this place! But at least Team Ram Rod was open! Yeah, team ram rod! Sadly, I will only get half the credits in Arizona today. Patriot was closed due to the Iraq War...it's not being very Patriotic right now So I didn't live in Arizona for a couple years but is this the new trend now? Or is it just a Phoenix thing? Maybe it's an ASU thing... Here's the other portion of the park with an awesome freefall ride that we rode too many times to count Onto more "stuff", they have a log flume ride where you get soaked! We didn't ride cuz it was only 45 degrees outside So it literally became In n OUT!!! BARF!!!! (btw, just kidding...the kid in front of us threw up but it was still funny at the time) Dan had trouble keeping his In n Out in... Yeah...no...ouch... After the loops comes one helix and then another where you hit a tree...no joke! WooHoo!!! Second loop! There go the sandbags leading the way into the next loopage Ok, so the train flys through the first loop like it's nobody's business and I missed the shot. I'm not perfect! Vertical Loop...here comes the train, get ready to take the photo! Going up zee lift hill... But at least they wait to dispath the ride until every seat is full (which could take up to 15min) The g-forces are so strong only sandbags are allowed in the front seat Here you can get a pretty good view of the ride, two loops and lots of g-forces Alright, Onto Desert Storm...Arizona's only looping coaster ...Rides and stuff. Not quite sure what the "stuff" was but whatever CnC has 4 huge miniature golf courses, go kart tracks, and ... We finally arrive at Castles N Coasters to hit every credit in Arizona Before CnC we had to hit up the best thing to come to Arizona...In n Out San Diego 2 miles? Am I really that close to home? Rumor has it, a ways back a guy tried to build a theme park on this lot but it failed horribly due to the geology of the materials in the ground (meaning you can't build on it) Here's the old "abandoned theme park" Here's Picacho Peak, the only real scenery from Tucson to Phoenix (besides the Ostrich Farm which is also at the base of Picacho Peak) Day started off with some interesting clouds forming over the Catalina Mountains...snow weather?
JimmyBo Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 More SNOW!! And one last picture...The Catalina Mountains covered in snow Yeah, it was still cold in the morning. Only 25 in Arizona! The best part, there were icecles on our bushes in the back And yes, Mr Snow was still there We travel across the street to see the school we were at the night before I wonder if the oranges on our orange tree are still good? Here's our street. Still snow on the trees The next morning there was still snow on the ground and now my truck was covered in ice...not good And fire we made...oooooo...fire....so pretty We were freezing cold so we made a fire After saying our good byes to Mr Snow we head back only to find my truck covered in snow Me with Mr Snow! Dan with the finished product
Shockwave Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 That report was all about the SNOW!!! That's a prettty reasonable amount as well, you guys had more than we did the other night. And to think it was nearly 100F when I was over there just over 2 months ago!
SharkTums Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 LOL! Playing at the school > Castles n Coasters! Funny about Desert Storm though, I can't believe they ran it like that!
phazan Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Whoa! That was a lot of pictures! I think the snow was the best part...I love snow!
jimbobcoaster Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Ahhhh, I want In-n-out and snow!! Seems like that was quite a bit of fun!
haiderodes Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Those snow pictures are awesome. What's with that first car on Desert Storm...are they just repainting it like the rest of the cars? I'm also suprised they ran it like that...so ghetto! Its been a few years since I was on that ride, but I never noticed the small holes in the headrests...do we know if these are new for *gasp* OTSRs?
redfoot12 Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Was Castles N Coasters formerly known as Golf N Stuff?
J man Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Wow! Desert Storm's train actually looks better than last time! When I was there filming Hoodie The Movie, the train looked like this. It looks so much better now. Now if they could just get that first car painted and back on the train it might look decent. ^Yeah I think CnC was called Golf n Stuff before they built the ride section of the park.
