My next WDW park on my list of visits was to Animal Kingdom. During this trip, I rode Kilimanjaro Safaris for the first time since I rode it on opening day (way back when I was in first grade and Rainforest Cafe was so cheap that they wouldn't give us ketchup for free). I do have to say that hte safari isn't as good as Rhino Rally, but it was still fun. We rode Everest and passed by the new Theater in the Wild featuring the new Finding Nemo show. Also, in the photos I have a few exciting extras (like a progress update on MGM's Midway Mania )

So...Now that I have covered Animal Kingdom, all that is left for me is MGM!

Our guide told us that this Baoyobob Tree was 1000 years old. Is Animal Kingdom 1000 years old too?

Stephanie decided to get a picture with the Duck from Tailspin. All I know is that he has a giant cleft in his chin that bugs me!

And to finish...My snooping around has gotten you this update. The inside of the old Who Wants to be a Millionaire studio has been gutted. Midway Mania is now ready to start construction! Thats all for today!

The dragon in the center isn't there for beauty. It signifies the missing land meant to go into Animal Kingdom named Beastly Kingdom. The land would have had a Unicorn themed maze, a suspended coaster and at least one more thrill ride.

And neither has the Dreamfinder!

The Theater in the Wild formely housed Tarzan Rocks, brought over from Disneyland Paris. After the show's removal, the theater was gutted and redone from the inside out, making it a newly enclosed and air conditioned aquarium...

The "Tree Lady" is huge!

The character in question would be Friar Tuck from Robin Hood. But kudos to you for finding Launchpad! He's a rare one. Now, if you can only find Darkwing Duck out somewhere. I know he's around, I've seen him out before, but he rarely comes out of the shadows anymore, which is a shame. I saw the little bit of the Midway Mania construction today to when I ventured over to MGM. They really need to tape up those black curtains a little better.

Great PTR!

I'm surprised they still have Lauchpad out there! I haven't seen Ducktales on TV for a long time. Now I've got the show's theme stuck in my head...

^^ Actually, I peeked through the doors, hence the thin and tall photo.

^Thank you. I didn't have a clue who Launchpad was until Stephanie told me.

Hmm...that descripton of Beastly Kingdom sounds awfully familiar...like something laid off Imagineers could have built at another theme park just down the road...

^Somewhat true, but not completely. Many of the Imagineers from the Animal Kingdom project were laid off during the planning phase and many of those Imagineers hopped on the Islands of Adventure project. Though the two projects did carry some similarities, Beastly Kingdom would be far from what Islands of Adventure was.

Beastly Kingdom would have had:

Dragon Tower- A suspended (not high speed) coaster themed to the a castle ruin (the script I read for the storyline from my friend that worked on the project talked about how you helped a bunch of bats steal treasure from a dragon, hence the Disney storytelling comes into play).

Maze of the Unicorn- A maze themed to mythical creatures that would have multiple dead ends filled with Audio Animatronic creatures like the Minotaur. Once you reached the exit, you would be greeted by a Unicorn.

From what my friend explained to me, the old Discovery River Boat Tour boats would have made a stop in Beastly Kingdom (as their third stop), shortening the ride time so that guests could get off.

Whenever the 5th Gate is built, it won't be themed to Beastly Kingdom, as the land was made to only have a few attractions (hence the hint of the dragon in the park). I have stood on the land on Western Way where the 5th gate and the main idea that I have been told by my Imagineer friend seems to flow really well, but the park won't happen for a while. Just wait for Western Way to be developed. You what they say, "If you build it, they will come..."
