Shmoclo Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 hey im going to dorney park in allentown PA and i was wondering if there is any info about the park you guys can giv me. like if it is crowded, are there any must go on rides,....... Thanks
Hercules Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Basically, no, it won't be crowded at all. It is basically like and ERT session all day. If you are going on Saturday though, it might get a little more crowded towards the night hours because of the Fright Zone opening up and all the kinds of stuff. People tend to get to the park later during Halloweekends to take advantage of the cheaper price. The coasters are the things to hit up. Like I said, there really won't be anyone there at this time of year, so there really isn't any kind of game plan that you should follow. Other notable rides are: The Whip, Meteor, and I really like the Scrambler. Zeyphr is a great old ride there too. It saved the park and it wouldn't be here today. I hope you enjoy the watered down fun of Dorney!

steel Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Ride The Whip. Also make sure to ride The Whip.
YoshiFan Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I agree that it won't be crowded. I have been to the park every weekend since Labor Day (except for the weekend it was closed to the public) and my longest wait has been 10 minutes for Steel Force. I love the lack of crowds and usually average about 6 rides an hour including walking to each ride and having to walk through the empty queue each time. Last Sunday it was so dead I even had a solo ride on Dominator. I think the must rides are: Talon, Hydra, Steel Force, Laser, Wild Mouse, Thunderhawk, Whip and Dominator.
ECZenith Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I've never seen DP crowded and I've gone about 6 times during 6 different years. A week after Hydra opened even the front seat was a walkon!
YoshiFan Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 The only time the park gets crowded and even then it's not considered long lines for an amusement park is a weekend in July and August. I went on a Sunday in August this year and Talon was 40 minutes, Hydra was 15 minutes, Laser was 20 minutes, Steel Force was 12 minutes (3 trains), Thunderhawk was 5 minutes and Wild Mouse was about 45 min - 1 hour (did not wait for that one). The problem is that when you are used to 0 - 5 minute waits, a 40 minute or even a 15 minute wait seems to take forever.
havenli Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I just did a Photo TR about Dorney a few days ago. It's not overly detailed, but it might give you some idea of what to expect. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30163&start=0 (Dorney is in the second batch of pictures).
yankees15 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 I agree with what everyone else has said so far. The lines won't be long. From around 5 - 7 on saturday Talon and Steel Force will probably be around a 20 minute wait and Hydra and Laser will be about a 5 - 10 minute wait. Anytime before or after that the rides will be 0 - 10 minutes.
Ccron10 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 After going back in August, the waiting time was very small like Hydra was 2 minutes, Steel Force was 5 minutes ( when they recently opened it after it was closed), Thunderhawk 1 to 2 minutes ( 10 in the evening), and Talon was 5 mins. for the front. Everywhere else on these coasters were walk-ons.
