Shavethewhales
So I decided it was time to go vistit the Tulsa state fair again, as it has been several years since I've been, and I was reminded throughly why I haven't. It was expensive, crowded, messy, and I had a constant worry of pick-pockets, but I had fun. Yeah, Bell's was great, but nothing has been done yet on the new coaster. I have more pictures on my website - www.superstevessupersite.com On to the pics, I'll have the rest up later. Lots too see in the Expo building as well. I got some good sheep action as well. More cow, I mean bull, goodness. Wheeee, cows! I was too chicken for this one. Sigh, many of the rides were broken down today, like the disko. Yeah, they had some crazy stuff. CREDIT!!!!!!!! On to the fair... Bell's does happen to have a few rides. Nothin much to report here... Even the log flume is packed. Probably the only time Zingo has had a que all season. Ah, sweet Zingo... Yup, this is the place.
Shavethewhales
more pics - And one last view of Zingo to finish up. Some more of the fair midway. There's the last fair credit, again I didn't think they'd let me on. ...Complete with crazy gremlins popping out of them. Gotta love these portable dark rides... I'm surprised anyone wasted money on this. Here's a look down the main artery of the fair. The Duct Tape contest... People will make an attraction out of anything. They had loads of crazy contests going on inside the Expo, like the sand art contest. I was tempted, but I didn't think they'd let me on.
apollo210
Nice PTR. Bell's does look like a fun little park. THe fair also looks pretty fun, if not that safe. I can't wait until that new coaster for 2008! That should put Bell's on the map.
Ryan King
I actually enjoyed this TR...your camera from some odd reason to me, makes the shots look a little old fashioned. Reminded me of an older TR. Awesome deal! -Ryan
Calvin
^Maybe that has to do with the fact that the photos seem saturated and sort of sienna-tinted.
Shavethewhales
yeah, I'm using a rather crappy camera at the moment, but I've just ordered a new Canon A530, which should be really good. Tch, too bad it's so late in the season.
jynx242
Thanks for the pictures. I love fairs! What was up with that HiRoller thing? I've been going to fairs for years and have never seen one of those? Are they fun? Painful? Sick-making? david
RCoasterny
Thanks for the pictures. I love fairs! What was up with that HiRoller thing? I've been going to fairs for years and have never seen one of those? Are they fun? Painful? Sick-making? david I went on one years ago and they are interesting to say at least... They pack more insane laterals than an Eyerly Roll-O-Plane. They are very confining and is enough to make an claustrophobic person have a heart attack. How it works: the train travels around the oval track. The oval track spins. At the "transistion point" which is the hub where the oval track spins on, you will go from looping in a counter-clockwise fashion to a clockwise spinning fashion in an instant, hence the insane laterals. This is why the operators enforce two riders per seat on the ride.
Shavethewhales
Hence why I was too chicken to go on it. The picture does not do it justice, it looked absolutely insane, the whole thing was flipping like it was out of control, and those cars ripped around it like... well, fast... ECZenith
Oooo, cool they had a KMG spinout. I have been on one of those "Hi Roller" rides once at the Brockton Fair and I have to say it's a s intense as it looks. No sense of direction whatsoever, very disorienting. Too bad it doesn't come around here anymore.
FLIPDUDE
I think its silly to say "they probably owuldnt let me on" and give up. go, try and ride it, and if they stop you, just dont go on it. Lord knows Ive ridden my share of big apples and dragon wagons.
Shavethewhales
heh, yeah, but I just wasn't in the mood, and I don't need to increase my coaster count that much. that and the price for ride tickets was phonomenal (sp?), single tickets cost $1 with a group of 20 tickets costing $15, and the rides took at least 4-6 tickets apiece. So yeah, I didn't do alot of riding...
