coasterdude5 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I have a: 64MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 card and RCT3 plays terribly. It takes about 2 hours to build a coaster since it freezes up so much! Which one should I have so it will play better?
Angry_Gumball Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Well, you could always get one of these: http://www.bfgtech.com/5200_256.html That's what I use but unfortunately, it still has it's unavoidable lags...NL runs smooth though. My computer specs are 1.8 ghz AMD Athlon XP 1800 processor, 624 megs of ram, 80 gig HDD and of course, that video card I linked...got that for $130 at my local electronics store. Hopefully, Soaked will not be a resource hog and run the game smoother.
kenshinmac Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I would aim for a Radeon 9800. Good value vs performance. However we need to know your processor speed to know if it will help a lot. RCT3 is heavily CPU bound because of that AI of the people. I think I have an Athalon 2600 and it still will drop to around 5-6 fps with around 1000 people and a decent number of rides on screen. The 9800 however runs the Half Life 2 demo perfectly on the same computer... I need to get HL2 at some point... Heck I need to get No Limits at some point...
coasterdude5 Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 I've got a Pentium 4 Processer w/ 1.8 gigs. Is that what you meant?
FlyingScooter Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 I went w/ a GeForce mx4000 256 and have not had any problems w/any games yet. ( the old vid card was the biggest issue w/RCT3's locking up and such.) Better vid cards are a good investment for you any 'puter.
coaster-inc Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 you do need a good pc for running RCT3 with a lot of stuff on it...
coaster-inc Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 well i got an AMD64 3400+, 1.5gb DDR 333 RAM, ATI RADEON X800PRO, 3 80gb HARD DRIVES, And loads of other stuff that dont effect the game, however this monster pc cost £1500 to build (i build pcs)
crispy Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 if you want less problems, go with an ATI, considering that is what they built the game for, and some invidia cards have had some problems, other than that, your on your own
coasterdude5 Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 I think I probably will go with an ATI.
coasterdude5 Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 Okay, it looks like I'm either getting this one: http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/144055/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#tabs or this one: http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_6600.html More questions: - How do I know it will be compatible? - If I already have a nvidia, should I stay with another? Thanks,
ShoubraStreet74 Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 I would recommend a Geforce 6600GT or 6800GT. Great performance with RCT3 and just over $100
