Chrissie Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Have you guys ever considered visiting here? Okay, We only have 2 extremely lame themeparks... but the scenery is pretty, the people are nice and we have several big castles which are bigger and better than any Disney ones
benzo41190 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 I going to Scotland next year for spring break. I have to see if there will be some park in the mix Well, are there any good coaster or fairs that run in April?
Chrissie Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 ^^Malta?! lol - A long way from Scotland! lol ^ Unfortunatly, There is nothing big that springs to mind in april. The best time for fairs in Scotland is at Christmas and New Year, especially in Edinburgh n Glasgow. If I hear anything, I will let u know! What part of Scotland are you visiting?!
SonOfBeastSucks Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I am Scottish, but have never visited the country. I would love to though. Did you prefer living in Scotland, or in Florida better, when you worked for Disney?
Chrissie Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 I liked living in Florida alot but to be honest, I actually lived on Disney property, so things were alot different for me. I was in a Disney bubble. lol!! I liked the weather, the beaches and pretty relaxed lifestyle of the place. But I love living in a city and I think thats why I like living in Scotland better.
Hercules Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I'm 1/8 Scottish and I am man enough to admit that I own a kilt.
the sound Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 ^ LMAO! Kilts are originally French Though. I wouldn't see the point of seeing Scotland for the coasters, but i would love to go for the castles and stuff. Its also a gateway to the Faroe Islands, which is a place i have longed to go to. Don't ask.
USRoadTripper Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 I'm 1/8 Scottish and I am man enough to admit that I own a kilt. Um...photo?!?! -Julie (kilt fanatic)
Chrissie Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 ^ I second that one!! Gotta love a man in kilt!!!
Hercules Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Nah. It be hangin' in me closet. There be no picture a me a sportin' the plaid. I be very sorry.
Chrissie Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Do you take Bribes? lol Nah, Just kidding.... Julie, I will find a nice man in kilt for you!
USRoadTripper Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 ^ Please try to make him bald with a goatee. Might as well try to find everything I want all in one man, right? hahaha *sigh* Scotland on a windy day must be...so...awesome... -Julie
coasters 4 me Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I really like Scotland. I have been to Glasgow and Edinburgh, but I have to say Edinburgh is the nicer city. I really love the old part of it. I was there for christmas when the huge ice-rink was in the centre part of the city, near the train station. Pitty there arent any good theme parks, apart from M&Ds which I have never been to. Even that looks pretty lame.....
Fallen Heretic Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I'm 1/8 Scottish and I am man enough to admit that I own a kilt. Just as long as its a proper kilt and not a Utilikilt. Is it a tailored kilt or a proper old school one you have to fold into shape? And do you wear the blades with it? Edinburgh is nicer for tourists, but Glasgow has better nightlife im my opinion. M&Ds at strathclyde park just seems like the place where they decided to dump the stuff they werent travelling with, then had the brain storm of running it there as a fair. I refuse to call it a park. It can kill a little time but coaster wise Scotland is not a good destination. Although it is only three and a half hours to Blackpool from Glasgow.
Hercules Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 My is tailored, and no, I don't wear the blades with it. My uncle on the other hand has an old school kilt and does wear the blades. Ahhhhh..... that crazy Clan Struthers.
FlyingScooter Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I'd love to visit Scotland. See the Wallace memorial and view the beautiful landscapes.
Chrissie Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 ^ Im not sure if this is entirely true... But I heard the Wallace memorial is a statue of Mel Gibson!!
Fallen Heretic Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 ^ Im not sure if this is entirely true... But I heard the Wallace memorial is a statue of Mel Gibson!! That seems to be a pretty common misconception The Wallace monument (not memorial) is not a statue of Mel Gibson. It is a tall tower just south of Stirling. Its only 130-odd years old, but you do get a good view from the top. AND you get to see Williams actual sword. When you see the sword, you will realise just how huge the guy had to have been. Its not really worth the entry price unless you are very keen though. It is near the trossachs which are gorgeous so it may be a worthy stop off for any visitor heading that way. There IS a statue of Mel Gibson in Braveheart attire at the bottom of the hill before you climb to the monument, but its not a particularly good one and was only added in the last few years. Last time there, I couldnt help but think they should build a mini-bob down the side of the hill.
Hercules Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Wow. I had never heard people say that they thought it was a statue of Mel Gibson.
