I'm still working on it, I've just haven't been posting any pics of it, but I nearly have the framework for the lift done! There's an opening at the bottom of it so other track sections can be built under the lift!

Right now it's being designed on the computer, but it will be built in real life eventually.

Right now, because of the progress I'm making, the computer completion date is being pushed forward to either the end of August or early September.

Well, I see you have all the important things figured out...like the name, the station rendering, and the all important pencil sketch of the ride. You have even given us a step by step synopsis of what happens after you leave the station all through the ride. Unfortunately, none of this has anything to do with making this ride actually function.

Has ANY thought been given to the efficiency of the trains? If you drop them from 3 feet, how many feet of track can they traverse? Has a mock-up of the trains been made to test their articulation and efficiency.

I am not trying to discourage you (I hope this thing someday exists), but you are going about this whole project backwards. The last thing you should be concerned about is the name of the ride and the station. All of this work is for naught if it doesn't even work. The trains are the single most important aspect of any model and until you get them figured out, I'm afraid this won't get much past the fantasy stages.

I have done some thought on the trains, like design, features, and ways to reduce friction. I've went through many different designs schemes and I'm starting to think about doing just a simple 4th dimension coaster car. This is just doing a simple body (no fancy curves for looks) and to make it as areo-dynamic as possible. The wheels will be set up similar to GCI's millenium flyer trains meaning each car (execpt the first car) will have only 2 wheels. Each car will have 4 arms holding each 1 seat, each car has a total of 4 seats, not very capacity friendly. The only thing I don't know what to do is the wiring for the braking system, but I'll talk to someone soon about that.

The framework for the lifthill is up and I found a few problems. The space between the station and lift is not going to allow me to dive under the lift. This means that the track where the zero-g-roll is going to be built through the lift which would mean the removal of a few support beams. This will create a cool head, hand and leg chopper effect!

More updates to come!

The general concept of WHAT you are making should be secondary to HOW you will make it. What type of wheel system are you using on the trains? Pin friction or bearings? Are you going to make a mold for the crossties? You mention that the wiring for the station is a problem. You need to have a working train to test the braking force needed before you can even attempt to design a brake system. Forget about the station for now. Just get a train that runs. It will help determine EVERYTHING that follows, from the thickness of the supports to the rigidity of your base. I know it is exciting to talk about what the model will do and how it will look, but trust me when I say all that means nothing unless it actually works.

I have been looking over all 19 pages of this project and I must say that it angers me to see this much attention paid to a project that obviously will never happen. If you spent as much time working on the actual model as you have trying to impress everyone with drawings, "name the coaster" contests, and descriptions of the ride, you MIGHT be well on your way. However, considering that despite the advice from other members to get focused on the model, there is no progress on the actual scale model. The people reading this thread need to understand that this is not going to happen. There are only a handful of operating scratchbuilt coaster models on earth. These were made by experienced modelers, some with extensive engineering backgrounds. Computer renderings mean nothing until you actually constuct an operating prototype. Everyone is dazzled by the thought of a 4-D coaster model and you are keeping them interested with the little updates here and there, yet you are no closer to completing this model than you were almost one year ago when this all started. I'm sorry, but it isn't going to happen.

^Not trying to be rude but you need to shut the F%^& up.

Chris, I think that this is an awesome thing and I hope for the best. You have done a lot of research for this. I think this will happen and when it does you have every right in the world to rub it into his^ face.

Who do you think you are? I've been working on this project for almost 1 year and sure, I haven't started building, but if you actually KNEW how much planning it takes, it could take this long. Not much progress? Maybe if you wern't blind as a bat, maybe you've seen all the photos and updates that I've posted. I've come a long way since the begining from design changes to layout changes to even update changes. I've talked to a physics teacher and he gave me some information on the project and SAID it was possible. As for there not being that many in the world, it's not stopping me from being the first person in the world. It's as simple as this... I'M NOT GIVING UP.

I'm not going to brag, but I have done A LOT of things over the past year to make sure this project works, and sure I haven't been posting many updates lately, but between my dad (who's helping me with the project) and my life, there are only certain times when we can work on this. If you thinking that I'm doing it just for publicity then you're dead wrong. Why would I want do that?

Wow. I'd hate to see you TRY to be rude. When it doesn't happen, can I rub it in your face?

I say we just ignore this jack guys since he obviously doesn't know how hard these are to build and people have other things to do than spend every moment of their life building a model.

On the contrary...I do know how hard these are to build. That is why I know it won't happen. I have 30 years experience building coaster models. How many do you have?

I never saw him bashing anyone. i mean. the guy obviously does know what hes talking about.

and i agree, until i see some actual construction going on, this is nothing more than a NL coaster as far as i'm concerned.

now saying i dont think he could build it, i'm just saying until i actually see it start happening i'm not that interested at the moment.

So your a pro roller coaster model builder. I have 18 years of experience of setting my mind to things and finishing them. I don't care how long this takes to build it will be awesome anyway. End of disscusion

What does this mean?

It means if you keep bashing me or other members, I get a mod in here to sort things out. Okay? Fine. Back to the project.

Do I really need a braking system? I could just add it in as an extra if I have time.

He's not doing it in NL. I think hes using inventor not sure what version though. I also think if you have nothing constructive to say don't say anything.
