Reality15 Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Yesterday I took some time out of my day to head down to my homepark, Fun Spot. I'd never been there before so I wanted to at least get the credits and everything. Ended up really enjoying the place, it was kind of like the Beech Bend of five years ago. Sure, the coasters were really rough and everything, but for the price it's a really great deal and park. Snapped my first flyers. I was proud. The Zyclon(e) hurt a LOT more than I thought it would. No Bayern Kurve (Olympic Bobs) today. And there's lots more pictures where this came from! You can check out the rest of today's pictures (64, in total) by going here. I'm hitting one more park up before college starts hopefully, so I'll post a TR if I can after that. No coasters, though, it's a waterpark. See y'all later, *~* Jon
Rugged One Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Nice report. We'll be hitting the park up next weekend. I'm glad to see that they got the Afterburner back up and running. Saves me a call to the park.
Reality15 Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 And, from what I've heard about the coaster in the past, it's running smoother than it's ever been... sure, still not glass smooth, but definately bearable to most of us.
Guest Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Nice pics... Question #1: How far is this park from other Indiana parks like IB or HW? Question #2: Umm... I dont really any others. Thanks for the update! Rob

Thanks for the update! Rob Mapquest, Google Maps, Windows Live Local, et al. are your friends! WLL gives about 5.25 hours (313mi) from Fun Spot to Holiday World, and about 2.75 (144mi) to Indiana Beach. Matt
Noxegon Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 With my apologies for bumping a three year old topic - I couldn't find a newer one - has anyone heard anything one way or another about whether Fun Spot will reopen in 2010?
larrygator Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 ^During 2008 the park was abrely open (only 6 or 8 weeks) and the economy really isn't any better now versus when they made "the closed for 2009 announcement." So I would venture to say no. I remember when Astroland closed the owners talked of needing to prepare for the upcoming season (ordering spare parts and such) before the end of the current season. If Fun Spot had plans to re-open they would have made a announcement by now.
HowieP Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Went to your Flickr account. Great pics from a fellow Grand Rapids native!
