Kingsdominion804 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 The Volcano @ Paramount's Kings Dominion re-opened on July 11, 2006. They said the malfunction was due to a loose bolt on the ride. http://www.richmondtimesdispatch.com/servl...s=1045855934842 Video: (below) www.wric.com/Global/story.asp?S=5130904&nav=menu28_2 And another thing, Flight of Fear might be back open by the end of this year!
bgwfreak Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I thought they were taking Flight of fear apart. That's what the dippin dots guy told the security guy that told this very reliable source I know that knows a person that knows a person that knows a person that heard that.
Hercules Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 And another thing, Flight of Fear might be back open by the end of this year! Yeah, it will be open............. at Carowinds.
pkdcoaster Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I can not believe people think they are actually moving these coasters. (some fools firmly believe it is already disassempled and the building is hollow, just read the forums at PKDplace.com for a good laugh.) It is CHEAPER for CF to buy clones than disassemble that ENTIRE ride piece by piece and ship it. It would take a construction crew a very long time to disassemble that entire ride/building piece by piece. FOF has not been touched since last year with the exception of laying the sign on the ground and the black fence. It will reopen at PKD!!, maybe not as Flight of Fear but it will reopen. I believe it was closed to help sell PKD, When CF sees the operating costs for this year the cost is much lower due to the power required to run it and it requires much more staff than a normal coaster. okinawaboy11 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 More Staff? JJ is the same ride and only has 3 ops. Even if they have the extra unload station isn't that like...4 ops? maybe 5? That's still not a lot of ops.
mforce79 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 More Staff? JJ is the same ride and only has 3 ops. and it only takes those 3 ops about 10 minutes to cycle the freakin' ride. It seems like Cedar Fair would know enough about operating costs, so I really don't see why Paramount would try to deceive another company by closing a ride. It's hard to say what they were thinking, but yes, I'd be very surprised if the ride doesn't open at PKD next year.
scruffy Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I heard that Flight of Fear was going to be rethemed but when the park went on sale they stoped the new theme and just left the ride sit.
Jon Sabo Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Someone already posted that volcano was open on the last thread. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26182&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=50 Which thread is being used now? This one or continuing the original one?
