Actually I do think that CF is more committed to the park than Paramount was. They just added Firefall, not just a flat ride, but a heavily themed flat ride. I highly doubt that if they did not care about the park they would put in something like Firefall. Plus, they are actually trying to get the coaster in, it's not like GL where they didn't have any additions except water park and cheaply placed flats. Introducing the Halloween Haunt and the ice show this year also helps me to believe that CF values this park. Attendance (in the days that I've been) has been up, especially compared to these past years. I have a hard time thinking that CF would sell the park. Agreed. Plus, the extended park hours, the expensive new sign by highway 101, and I have been seeing a buttload of CGA commercials, sometimes one right after the other. These commercials seem to be on a lot more frequently than the SFDK ads. If I were to guess, I would say you'd see 3-4 CGA ads before seeing one ad for SFDK. I really believe CF wants to keep this park and expand it when the 49er deal falls through. I do remember from one of the articles CF said they had 'future expansion plans' for CGA. Dont forget the fireworks every Saturday night in August!

Any tips for visiting SFDK?

Then definitely use the fast pass system. You'll spend less time in the lines of the rides you DO want to get in, and more time enjoying the animal attractions and shows! HAVE A BLAST! p.s. - keep hydrated! http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43087&highlight= -

When did they get rid of the flass pass for ROAR? They had it when I went last year. Anyways SFDK is a very nice park. It has 3 kid areas, tigers, whales, and much more stuff for little ones to do. --Jay I retract my statement. They must have added it last year because the year before I was denied the use of my flash pass. I just checked the website: AVAILABILITY At Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, The Flash Pass is valid on the following attractions: * Boomerang Coast to Coaster * Kong * Medusa * Monsoon Falls * Roar * Tazmanian Devil * Tony Hawk's Big Spin I guess I never looked into this last year because of what happened 2 seasons ago. I guess it helps to check in -

* Get in line for ROAR - theres no fast pass and the line can get really long. * Medusa has a fast pass lane, if you need to - use it. -

Can anyone tell me the show she was on? I remember seeing it one late night after the clubs and thought it was the booze playing tricks on me. -
Hit me up, I've got a platinum pass and am always down to stomp around the park. I went last Sunday at 8:30pm and rode just about everything that wasn't closed. I would suggest getting some rides in the AM and spend the afternoon at the water park, and return around 7ish for the rides at night when its much cooler

I think that is a bit strange, because every article I read about the Paramount aquisition seemed to suggest that CF was actually interested in the Nick characters anyway... though perhaps something happened with the MoA deal to spoil it a bit. Nothing against Spongebob, but I love Snoopy... so I hope it is true and that they try to work with the Charles Shulz museum or Snoopy Home Ice in Santa Rosa for some cross-promotion... I think for all biz purposes they should really stick to one brand of character to help carry the CF image, and to me, the Peanuts characters are Americana itself. Maybe they're seeing the Nick characters drop in popularity and want to switch to the ones with longevity. I dunno, I could just be thinking about it too much

I went last night around 8:45pm, the park looks AWESOME at night. They do need to add lights to a bunch of the rides, but all in all it was really pretty. Firefall looked amazing, but was closed. The sky buckets were closed as well, not too sure why these aren't running at night, I can only imagine the views. FD was open finally, got to walk on that and stay for a couple rides. The Demon was smoother for me than it has been lately for some reason. Invertigo was also closed for some sort of repair, so that night ride will have to wait.

I popped my coaster cherry a couple years ago and have been addicted ever since. My GF however hadn't rode a coaster in a long time, and had acquainted them as 'kid stuff'. When things got more serious, she started to see my love for the thrill and agreed to ride them again. We took a trip down to Knotts and DL, she was VERY intimidated by the sights of Xcelerator, so I took her on Silver Bullet. Since it had been a long time since her last ride, she started to build a huge anxiety... since coastering is important to me, she was worried in her aging that she may not be able to handle the intensity. Luckily the inverted coaster was familiar to her (Top Gun/FD at CGA), and that helped her. We still didnt ride Xcelerator together. She is hesitant of any ride that doesn't have OTSR, so I need to get her on a Goliath so she can witness the wonder of new restraints. Good luck. p.s. have you had the first kiss? maybe you can promise him a peck if he should face his fear

What is your local park?

CGA = 5-10min away SFDK = 60min away -
Burn the Grizz down and lets get some Intamin AG goodness! Something along the lines of Storm Runner EDIT: Here is a great vid of the ride and FX working. While the ride program doesn't look exciting, the theming is really killer. CGA really stepped up on this, it gives me the warm and fuzzies to think what kind of quality upgrades, new rides (woodie included) we're in for.

Wow, great pics. I cant wait to ride FD at night! -
I for one would not miss the Grizz. The entrance is pimp looking, yes - but that only lifts up your spirits high enough to be crushed by the sheer suck that is the ride itself. I say we burn the sucker down and make way for another world class coaster. Maybe they could get a bigger version of the Pony Express in there. Anything would be better than whats there now. But I have to disagree with the addition of any more flat rides. CGA is full of them!
