Before we debut the new FIND THE DOUBLE DUCKY this Monday, we have to finish up some old business! The Super Epic Contest turned into the Not So Super Epic Contest, as Big Mike figured out readers don't really want to go through the hassle of doing something above and beyond, but they are cool with finding duckies while relaxing at their computer! There were 10 readers that didn't mind partaking in a little fun, so those 10 still have a little unfinished business to take care of! Big Mike sent them out to take a picture in front of a park sign with a sign that read I love Big Mike! They did and moved on to the 2nd round. Hey Friends! Love the topic Mr. Bebe! I always enjoy hearing how charged up some people get when discussing how to keep a coaster count! lol I get a giggle everytime that my friend Hot Fuzz Rich gets on me for the way I count I have not heard anyone mention it yet, everyone seems to talk about if it is on rcdb or not, I use coaster-count.com, which IMO is far superior to anything else out there. No need to track down traveling coasters or mountain coasters, they are all listed on the site and it lets you choose and sort all the possible options so you can count the way you like. So, if anyone is interested in my thoughts, here is how I keep count without an explanation why, just because this is how I do it and since it is my count, I do it my way Duel track coasters - yes Powered coasters - yes Kid coasters - yes Relocated coasters - yes Water coasters with coaster elements - yes Backyard coasters - yes (I have ridden John Ivers and it is better than a lot of coasters on my list) Traveling coasters - yes (The site I use has all the companies listed, so once I ride it somewhere, I do not count it again if I meet up with it in my travels) Mountain coasters - yes I personally would not count a coaster if it went backwards, or anything else that was not listed on coaster-count. I have my own excel sheet as coaster-count does not count relocated coasters. For me, it is not about padding my count as my theory is once I am above 1000 like I am if I count everything or only what everyone else says I should, it really is meaningless. I also agree with a previous poster that it does feel like a badge of honor when I can pull off riding a Percy's Railroad, a closed for the season coaster, a John Ivers coaster, the Rye Playland coaster, Kids'N Action coaster etc etc and so on! The reason I do like to count almost anything within reason is a lot like Chad, I have set a goal to ride EVERY COASTER in the USA, and if I exclude certain types, it diminishes my PERSONAL goal. Currently, I have 76 TOTAL coasters left in the USA, which counts in 8 more mountain coasters, a slew of powered and kiddie coasters, and quite a few relocated coasters as well. I enjoy the thrill of continuing to lower what is left in the USA and if I only counted what people say I should, I could almost be done and would have nothing left to look forward to, plus, I would feel it would be a cheapened or tainted achievement. When I finally do succeed in my quest, I will KNOW that I did in fact ride EVERY SINGLE ROLLER COASTER IN THE USA, no matter how other enthusiasts decide to count them, because I will have ridden every type! If you have a love for riding different types of coasters, indeed count them. In the end, it is only your joy and happiness riding them that should really matter to you and your personal count! The Big Man is back from his Southern California Leg of The Big Mike Road Show 2012 World Tour, and for this week only, will bring you new episodes from this past week! We start off today with a trip down to Tijuana Mexico, for three roller coaster credits at Mundo Divertido! This was the 3rd time Big Mike has been down by San Diego and has been talked out of going to Mexico every other time on account of the drug cartel violence, kidnappings, and beheadings of Americans!!! Big Mike decided that this time, he was not going to be pushed around and bullied by these Mexican drug cartels anymore, and just in case that he encountered any thugs, that he was going to bring his own muscle with him, Megan!!! Is Mexico really that bad, or is it just the American media scare tactics hype running wild? Either way, Big Mike was going to find out once and for all!!! Also, there are only 2 trip reports on all of Theme Park Review from Mundo Divertido, and none in over four years, so Big Mike feels that it is his duty to bring The Valuable Big Mike Readers a fresher view of the park!!! Before we get to this big episode, tonight we crowned the Grand Prize Winner of The Big Mike Road Show Reader of the Year Contest! Megan looks a little weary on the idea to actually give this a try! The funny thing about going to Tijuana Mexico, this is the border crossing right here. Go through this turnstile, no security at all, no identification check, nothing! Big Mike gave Megan a little scare when she crossed over and Big Mike turned and walked the other way back to the USA Half of Megan is in Mexico, and the other half of Megan is in the United States! Welcome to Tijuana!!! Big Mike bargains with a Mexican cab driver to drive us to the amusement park, stay with us for the day, and then drive us back to the border. Big Mike found a willing cab driver for a grand total for everything above at $25. Now the question, does he take us to the amusement park or the drug cartel headquarters? Notice that Big Mike is not in his usual high profile attire! Big Mike dressed down so that the Mexicans would not realize that they had massive star power and a huge ransom payday sitting in the back of the cab! All smiles can be seen as we pull up to Mundo Divertido! Lots of options in the complex too! Park map. Mundo Divertido in Tijuana Mexico!!!!! Prices. A packet of 22 tickets cost us about $12, and it was the perfect amount for both of us to ride all 3 coasters! Raton Loco overview. Reverse overview. Car. There is our driver waiting for us! Going up the lift on Raton Loco, coaster credit #1118 for The Mighty Big Man! Megan was seen laughing in the face of danger! Montana Rusa overview. Yay, a loop! Car. Wow, this coaster looks fun! Coaster credit #1119 for Big Mike, but more importantly, how about that expertise photo taking skills getting both of us and the loop while moving!!! Exclusive Mid Loop Shot! Big Mike, just like Megan already did, laughs in the face of danger! Megan was looking really extra excited on this coaster ride, I wonder why??? That's why! Coaster #300 for Megan!!! Megan's milestone coasters so far have all been kiddie coasters, so she wanted this one to be on a Pinfari Death Machine! Gusano Loco overview. Megan LOVES no lines! There is our cab driver again waiting for us! This parks coaster collections have been completed! Coaster credit #1120 for Good Ole Big Mike! Not only did our great cab driver wait for us at every ride, he also took pictures for us, held our stuff while we rode, translated when we needed, and even was cool with us taking pictures of all the rest of the rides at Mundo Divertido that you are now about to see! Bumper Boats. Train. Go-Karts. Bumper Cars. Monorail. Free rides. Mini golf. Carousel. Arcade. Big Mike could not leave without going on the up charge haunted walk through!! This was actually really entertaining and quite good! Back to our waiting taxi cab! The same conversation, will we make it back to the border crossing or be driven to a drug cartel hideout? He brought us to the border crossing, the trip was a complete success!!! If anyone is crazy enough to try this like Big Mike did, our taxi driver gave me his card and I will put it away for safe keeping if you need it! Have no fear about this long 2 hour line to get back into the USA, Big Mike found a "Fast Pass Line" even in Mexico!!! The walk in line was huge, the car drive over line was huge, but a little secret that The Mighty Big Man knew was the key to making it across the border in 21 minutes!!! As a special bonus for being a Valuable Big Mike Reader, Big Mike will let you in on his special secret: There is a bus lane that goes into the USA, and the last bus tour company that traveled into Tijuana went out of business, so the bus lane is virtually empty. Right at the border, there is a mini bus company that for $5 a person, will drive you up into the bus lane and let you off right at the front of the line!!! We were 6th in line to cross the border, and 4 of the 6 beat us out of our own bus! Today's edition of The Big Mike Road Show is kind of super cool to The Big Man, as this is a park visit to one of the "at the time" 13 coasters that Big Mike had been denied to ride! Yes, even The Big Mike Charm does not work sometimes, but then again, can a place handle a 2nd dose of Big Mike Charm??? Big Mike was eager to find out! Kids 'N Action is only 3 miles away from Coney Island, yet it is extremely overlooked and most often never even heard of except for the die hard coaster enthusiasts, especially the ones that count powered coasters! Big Mike collects every type of coaster there is, so this was a big deal to The Big Man! Big Mike uses coaster-count as his roller coaster counter, the best out there by far, and it has a full map of everywhere you need a roller coaster still, and this red balloon so close to Big Mike World Headquarters really bothered The Mighty Big Man, so he decided to give it another shot. Big Mike packed another stronger dose of The Big Mike Charm in his back pocket and ventured out with his lovely Megan, it was time to collect! Hope you enjoy! Well, Big Mike figures that he will tour the complex and bring lots of pictures for all of his Valuable Big Mike Readers to see since no one has ever covered this place before on Theme Park Review once again, and it is usually tradition for when TPR folks think of who they can count on in situations like this, The Big Mike Road Show is the 1st place that pops into their minds! Play area. Train. Go Kart Track. Reverse angle. One of the kid karts. Little kid play area. Lots of prizes to be won! This is also the area where you get to before the girl tells you that adults can't ride the coaster, but since Big Mike was taking pictures of everything for The Big Mike Road Show, he was allowed to enter. Snack bar. Big Mike notices that there are some kids on the coaster now and heads over to take a picture or two. While Big Mike is by the coaster wishing he was one of those kids riding, the owner comes up to Big Mike and asked why The Big Man was taking so many pictures in his place. Big Mike replied that he travels the World trying to ride every roller coaster, takes lots of pictures of all the places, and then posts them for all the Valuable Big Mike Readers to see! The owner thanks The Mighty Big Man for the coverage of his establishment and then suddenly out of the blue, Big Mike hears " Would you like to ride this roller coaster?" Ka-Ching! One less roller coaster on the previously denied list!!! Hello Valuable Big Mike Readers! Today's episode of The Big Mike Road Show comes to you from the Black Hills of South Dakota once again, and this is South Dakota's first and largest state park! What is nice about this state park is that is has wildlife roaming free all over the park, and it has some outstanding scenery also! I hope you enjoy! Peace, Big Mike Custer State Park! Big Mike showing you some of the nice scenery! More scenery. Even more scenery! Enough scenery, how about a deer? You can see a deer almost anywhere, how about a bison? How about a whole group of bison, wandering free around the park! The bison are the huge draw here, but Big Mike loved the burros a whole lot more! You were allowed to feed them right from your car! Look at those ears! Of course, when you start feeding one, everyone wants to join in on the free food! You were free to get out of your car and mingle with the burros, or you could stay inside and be a chicken like Mom. Baby burro! Bonus points for Big Mike for bringing you a pair of babies! My friends Nick and Amanda were getting married and they asked The Mighty Big Man to come and share the special moment with them! Oh, did I forget to mention they were getting married on the Phoenix roller coaster at Knoebels too??? Big Mike was in!!! The special occasion is my friends Nick and Amanda's wedding! Where are they getting married you may ask?? The Phoenix roller coaster of course! Since this wedding was pre-Megan, Big Mike's date was Kozmo! The bride walking down the aisle, or in this case, the exit ramp! The wedding was performed by Reverend Cliff Herring, a roller coaster enthusiast himself! The start of their new life together. The happily married couple! Since they took the front seat, Big Mike and Kozmo shared the back seat together! Kozmo couldn't wait to tell them how much of a thrill it was to ride the coaster with the legendary Big Mike Look what was waiting for them at the end of the ceremony!! This is better than a limo ride for sure, and look who they have to drive them, that's Dick Knoebel!!! Knoebels really went out of their way to make this day super special! Nick and Amanda wave goodbye and Dick drives them around the whole park! The bride and groom took some spins on the carousel next. Big Mike was having a blast, not only because he attended his friend's wedding, but also, he got to ride his favorite carousel again! Exclusive ring dispenser shot! Hello Valuable Big Mike Readers!!! Thursdays mean something to do by an amusement park that you are visiting! Big Mike has had a running tradition to visit every Major League Baseball Stadium, and this was a part of his past accomplishments. While visiting Six Flags over Georgia, or any of the other small parks nearby, if it is baseball season, Turner Field is right there for you to experience! Big Mike has been averaging about two ball fields a year, and looks to continue it this year with Wrigley Field, which is on Big Mike's Top 50 Always Wanted To Do List!!
