  1. City Museum is one of a kind and there isn't anything like it anywhere else. You could spend the entire day there and as you leave, realize there was so much you didn't do. It is painfully fun, you will get some little scrapes and bruises, but I look at it as marks of a hell of a fun time. Great photos and report Robb, and just like you said, photos DO NOT do it justice. Its been about 2 years since I've gone, I need to get back... you would think living here, I'd go more often.
  2. Great TR!! Being this my home park and a workplace of mine for over a decade, I have seen this park go through the ups and downs since the early 2000s to recent. Yes, of course I am like everyone else who has whined and complained that SFSTL desperately needs a new "put SFTSL back on the map" coaster (and it still does), but SFTSL has received a lot of flats in recent years that is rounding out this park nicely and has been receiving more TLC that it desperately needed. This park has so much to offer and hope that it continues receiving the treatment it has been receiving the past few years.
  3. I know we all pretty much knew a waterpark addition was coming, but many were thinking water coaster, which I too would have enjoyed, but when I heard it was multi element slide, I was pretty excited about it. Yes, I know no one cares as much about the waterpark, but this is a much needed attraction and will be very welcomed by the visitors to Hoosier Harbor.... but so far, it seems to be pretty welcomed. I do have to say though, I am pretty impressed Six Flags is putting in a few of those giant space rings on crack, definitely unique rides being brought to the states. Everything else Six Flags announced, mehhhhh
  4. NO!!! Touch it and I break your face off!!!
  5. Holy crap, no one will believe what we're getting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..............something that won't open for the first 3 months of the season, long waits, down times, and nothing but the feeling of emptiness and sadness and waste of 2 minutes of your life But seriously, I think many will be happy, I think its going to be a wonderful and much needed addition
  6. The part CAN be made, the problem is the last time this was done a few years back, the part didn't last, and the company that said they could do it won't guarantee the part, and for the cost, the park doesn't want to keep dishing out the money over and over
  7. Huss rides are great! With SFGA closing there top spin King Kaos, it's gotta go somewhere, and with Fling going bye bye.... just a thought... or is it?
  8. So, I just got back from my week long trip down to Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg. While down there, I decided to leave my group behind for a day and take a nice 3 hour trip for my first ever visit to Carowinds... I can say I was not disappointed at all! This park is beautiful, you can definitely tell it was a Paramount park in the past, and bravo to Cedar Fair for keeping it a gorgeous park. I went this past Tuesday, arrived at opening and the longest line of the day I had was for Ricochet, about 15 minutes. I've always wanted to visit Carowinds, and ever since Fury was built, I've been aching to get there. Fury was down right phenomenal, my new #1!! I had 1 front row ride, 1 fourth row ride, and one last car ride... WOW, WOW, WOW!! I knew it would be a great ride, but it really did blow me away!! Hurler is in desperate need of the RMC conversion and i know its coming soon. Afterburn was beyond a pleasant surprise! It was way more forceful than I thought it would be, and the ride itself was awesome... great transitions, fun layout that greatly interacts with the surroundings. Vortex, well, I seriously don't know why I put myself on these tortures machines.... oh, wait, yes I do, the credit lol. And for Intimidator, well, I was actually surprised. I always here how lame and slow it is, but truthfully, it wasn't bad, definitely not near the top of the list for best B&M hypers, but was still a fun ride.. yes the hill trim definitely is noticeable and needs to go. Anyway, all in all, great park and definitely will make it back.... hopefully soon!!
  9. Thank you for all the info and options, very helpful... now the next dilemma is if LR will be open and running when we go.....
  10. Thanks. I do. Its $3 off through AAA. I was just curious if there were coupons that were more at like a restaurant chain, gas station, soda can, or anything like that. If anyone knows where to find actual coupons for my visit to Dollywood next week, much appreciated, thanks!!!
  11. Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but cant seem to find anywhere. Will be heading to the Smokies Aug13 - Aug 19, wondering if there is anywhere to get discount coupons for DW. I saw the McDonalds promotion on the website, but that is ending the day we arrive. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!
  12. That is not completely out of the question, but HIGHLY unlikely. It is half way thru 2017 and most parks are already putting plans together for 2019, it would be almost impossible to get something here this short notice to replace Fling... but weirder things have happened
  13. It looks as if some have noticed the purposeful incorrect info I have given... I was trying to throw people off and get some hype going, but everyone for the most part caught on quick, so lets just spill the beans. Highland Fling, installed in 77, (purposely put the wrong year in for confusion), is currently on the the chopping block. It looks as if it has suffered yet another major mechanical downfall with a part no longer made. This happened a couple years back and the part had to be specially made. This time, the part in question is much more difficult to replicate and the fabricators won't warranty it, so it seems that the easiest thing to do is scrap it. Again, this had nothing to do with future plans and was unexpected. But this will open up that back corner for a nice new addition in the future.
  14. Ok, so when I received the news today, it didn't seem right to me, so I did some digging the past few hours, and was told the wrong ride. Actually, the ride I was told originally, I thought it was an original, but I was off by a year, but luckily its not this ride. The ride on the chopping block is not an original, but it is older... I would love to say more, but must wait until its 100% official, as of now, its 95% official, it would take a miracle to save it at this point. This was an unexpected event and not part of future plans... the question is, how to fill the area... hmmmmm, "round and round we go"... or at least we did
  15. As if this heat isn't miserable to start a Saturday, was just informed of some bad news, looks like SFSTL will be unexpectedly losing a classic original ride forever..... more details to come
  16. SF Corporate doesn't look at having the "best" or "worst"... like many are saying, its all about ROI, and also attendance... and in attendance they look at season pass holders vs 1 day tickets, and ride placement. When building a ride, a factor not many think about is OVERALL cost. A coaster costing $5 Mil may cost a tad over that at a park that has open room with easy access, where as the same coaster at another park may over cost over $6 Mil due to land contour, special equipment, temporary or full demo of rides and buildings, and so on and so on. As far as season pass holders to 1 day ticket sales, this is a HUGE factor. If the primary attendance coming in to a park is season pass holders and those numbers continue to go up year after year after small investments, they will continue investing small KNOWING the GP will continue to come back regardless. If a park is more 1 day ticket sales driven (tourists) and they depend on that more than season passes, they will invest more to continue to make the trip worth while, people wont come from as far for little investments. SF Corporate looks at SFSTL, LaRonde, and other such parks as more of a satellite location than a primary location... kind of like "here's a little taste" of each of our parks all thrown in to one.
  17. i don't know, but "ITS TIME TO GO!... ITS TIME TO GO!!"
  18. Oh, the lovely people that come to SFSTL.... https://www.facebook.com/TheCityofSaintLouis/videos/1895901727336357/
  19. Have 9-1-1 on stand by because park personnel will be useless in helping....
  20. A little useless fact about Batman's opening day... Work was a tad behind and construction crews and maintenance crews worked around the clock the last 24 hours before it opened.... The asphalt in the area was poured and steamrolled just hours before the park opened
  21. That flood was over a month ago.... and no, not even close
  22. If I remember right, a remodel of the entrance plaza was planned a couple of seasons ago when Dave was still Park President. Not so sure anymore, but I would think it still is, at least somewhat. I think it was talked about in this thread at some point. Back around 2009, 2010, 2011, there was a BIG plan. Starting with metal detection getting a permanent pavilion type structure. Then a new building to house season pass processing with its own entrance to the park, then upgraded Guest Relations, Ticket Booths and Front Gate. They also would have repaved all asphalt and concrete from Metal Detection all the way up through the front mall... if memory serves correct, i think a small sliver of catering grove would have needed a little modification to accommodate for the season pass processing building. The only thing I can't remember was if the large fountain by metal detection was to stay, go, or get modified. I know there was serious talk about it at that time, I'm just not sure if it even ever made it on blue prints. The idea has floated around some more in recent years, but again, not quite sure how deep into thought it has gone
