The woman the news interviewed IS NOT THE ORIGINAL INJURED GUEST!!! This idiot didn't say a word to anyone, went to the hospital later on her own, THEN said something. Sounds to me like this person heard about the original story and decided to give a law suit a shot. There's a good chance she's not even hurt, and even if she is, prove it even happened at the park -

The article says it was unknown whether or not there were any injuries. The Wikipedia page on incidents at Six Flags says the person was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries. Haven't seen anything else. Anyone know if there were injuries and what they were? Mike Last I heard was that the guest WAS NOT injured and the trip to the hospital was just precautionary.... but like Prozack said, measures taken due to possible civil suit -

Way more than that. I haven't heard what it is in the past few years, but about 5 or 6 years ago, it was something like $2 per cycle. So if it runs an average of 30 cycles per hour, thats $60 just per hour. Times that by an average 10 hour day, thats $600 for one day. Remember, that was the price years ago, so its much higher now. But I do remember being told that Freeze usually racked up a bill of over $1,000 a day. -

And yet another ride may soon be on the chopping block due to unexpected damage. Only speculation at this time, but it seems damage may have been found on Xcalibur that may not be repairable. The situation is still being assessed, hopefully it is nothing major and can be fixed. If not, Britannia is going to get very empty very quickly. -

The trains suck too badly to do much more then basic turns. Actually, an overbanked turn wold be less stressful on the trains. There wouldn't be lateral G's, still the same positive G's as when hitting the bottom of the hills from the drops I think the point your missing is that the current trains can't articulate through an overbanked turn. They would have to purchase a train like the timberliners to make that happen. If the transition is sharp and quick, yes. But not if it is gradual, there wouldn't be as much of a snap as you'd think. Its just like any other bank, but instead of stopping at 15, 20, or 30*, it just keep s going, then back out. Take a look at Hades here, very gradual, not snappy at all like an RMC Perhaps I should clarify my response. The trains could traverse an over bank turn or even possibly an inversion. However long term the Gerstlauer trains will do what they do best, jackhammer, shuffle and ruin track. A 90 degree turn would turn into another maintenance nightmare. Now if they upgrade to better trains at some point in the future, a 90 degree banked turn would be a nice upgrade. Based on the picture it looks like it wouldn't take a massive amount of money to upgrade either. That makes more, sense, yes, I agree with that and never thought about it that way. But too, the reason the Boss has had as many problem as it had was due to bad wood used in the past. If built properly, it would be no different than a PTC making it thru some of the coasters which have 90* or more elements, and they are much heavier and rough trains. Either way, it was just a pipe dream. -

I've only gotten the chance to see this rework a couple of times since it started. When it started at first, it looked as if it would dip harder out of the turn going to the new turnaround. By thinking that, I thought there was a chance we'd see a nice overbanked turn, much like on Hades 360... man, was I let down... They could have done so much better with this... but then again, I don't know why I expected more -

I always thought a tunnel at the bottom of the drop, all the way through the long straight away and ending after the right dip down would be pretty sweet. Boss has a few spots that a tunnel would be great on -

Lol, omg, wow. Guess I hit a nerve with you. All I was saying is we’ve gotten Superman, Boomerang, and 2 kiddie rides from Texas. We also received Big Bend from Texas, but it was obviously never installed. So that’s 5, far from 2. Either way, I was being sarcastic and trying to make a joke, but something about it obviously isn’t sitting well with you. Sorry that got you so worked up..... smh -

Not sure where you're getting that. We got Boomerang from SFoT, but other than that, I can't think of anything. We got Mr. Freeze and Justice League at the same time, and we got Batman 4 years before them. We have gotten hand me downs, yes, but they've come from Great Adventure and Astroworld in addition to Over Texas. I know a lot of enthusiasts seem to think SFStL os neglected, but since Boomerang, all the additions have been new. We're getting a pretty kickass water slide next year. The additions have been small but important improvements to the park. The place has really turned around from where it was 10 years ago. That was my bad, I meant to say we seem to get all of Texas' oldies... -

So as I sit here bored working remotely today, I thought I'd goof around and see how and where a a nice new steel could go... here's what I've come up with so far. Taking out Ninja for a station and que area and then using the access land outside the perimeter road and down along the side of the waterpark. Shows how much room there is to fit something in. It just gives you an idea of what kind of beautifulness we could have but will never see... this is what happens when you combine boredom and nerdness... -

Not really, the park was in need of a new waterpark attraction. It'll be 6 years since the last addition of Bonzai, one of the longest stints of not adding anything since Harbor opened in 99 -

That may have partial reasoning, but those SF parks' competition are different markets and different style parks altogether. Seaworld can not be compared to a SF or CF park and Lake Compounce is more of a family style park. What it comes down to is corporate doesn't see the need to add to a park where over 90% of the attendance is local and are happy. If SFSTL was more of a destination park, then yes, they would have to add more custom and stand out rides to keep the crowds returning. The 3 closest parks are all about exactly 3 hours away, SDC, WoF, and HW -

The only thing that could change the park's ride roadmap at this point is a change in the ownership structure to be more like over Texas or Over Georgia. And I don't see that happening. It would be nice, but we don't have the population that Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta have. But we DO have metro populations larger than SFNE and SFFT and they get WAY better stuff than us. We just have to accept the fact that our park is primarily a season pass park and as long as the numbers show that that works and the crowds are happy, we won't ever see a larger CUSTOM steel coaster. -

They will not book any band that has a price tag of more than the $75,000(ish) range for a show. If they get a few acts at a good negotiated low price, they may go over that $75,000 range for another, but rarely. So having that low of a budget, limits your choices greatly. The only way to get around it would be to charge a small fee like $10 or $20 for entry to the show, but even at full capacity of around 10,000, that's only $100,000 to $200,000 extra and wouldn't get all that much better of choices... not to mention IF they did charge, people wouldn't go, or at least not sell out the amphitheater. Mercy Me & Switchfoot's price tag is in the $75,000 -$150,000 range now, and that's just about out of the parks comfort zone, yes, some of the others they used to have like Casting Crowns, Third Day, and Newsboys are lower, but around that $75,000+ price tag still. The days of the BIG shows are long gone, but that goes for a lot of parks now a days. The workers that have been at the park since it opened in 71 still talk about the Beach Boys show the park held back in the 70's. Old Glory wasn't even built yet. A stage was built in the employee parking lot up in the maintenance area... but the really cool part was that they poured sand from the gate by Shazam all the way up to the concert area and lined the path with palm trees and string lights. As much as i think all parks need a large venue such as Old Glory, I think in the next few years, you will start seeing parks getting rid of them... not all parks, but some. -

Only a limited amount of rides open so that maintenance can start the overhauls on the rides as they do every year. SFSTL maintenance dept isnt as big as other parks maintenance depts, so they need as much time as possible to start these overhauls. Another reason is staffing. -

It isn't so much staffing as you think. It is partially due to labor laws, but primarily because of profitability. During Fright Fest, the majority of attendance comes for the evening attractions in the dark. Fully staffing the park from 10A-12P became pointless and a huge waste of money due to very low attendance during those times, and not getting any return profit from guest spending. They saw attendance numbers spike dramatically around 12P, so they pushed opening back to this time.
