  1. Back in July I said the same thing, a RMC Raptor would fit nicely using RailBlazer's measurements
  2. Plans are some updates to the lighting this offseason. That is great news to hear, I hope this time they can keep it working, I am glad they are getting around to the small things. And the whole thing about Ninja, please Six Flags spend a little extra on new trains for Ninja, it really needs some more love.
  3. While that's a nice view, the back of my mind is saying nope to high time to get down. What do you usually do maintenance on that high up? Are we ever going to get the lights at the top working right on Skyscreamer?
  4. That looks awesome! Can't wait to ride it, and see the new aquarium.
  5. Kentucky Flyer type ride would be a cool addition, but I still think something smaller and more compact like Little Dipper could be a win at our park. But yes I know, this is Six Flags, don't dream to high. That makes sense, I didn't think of all the struggles getting up the hill and the extra cost of regrading of the soil to do so. I guess we have to wait and see what they have in store during construction and what they announce next year, I just hope its not just one ride and done type of thing. I wonder if they are doing anything else beyond Catwoman next year, like any sizable park improvements (painting, etc.)
  6. I wouldn't think that it would get that high, I know decks are expensive and labor costs are costly, but once the main structure is down (really someone can pull a permit, detach the bridge from the ride, rent a bulldozer and knock the bridge down, all that would be left is cleanup). My idea for what could be a cheap solution is to start from the station's current exit/entrance and zigzag straight down to the ground and concrete walkway the rest of the way to the entrance following the helix (unless there would be a future ride closer and could tie with Boss). But I could be wrong on my thinking. I think everyone here was excited on the idea of having a Discovery coming to the park, that would and still could be a awesome addition to park along with Xcalibur. Catwoman is a good in between for now, higher thrills, at a presumably lower cost, something to get us to hopefully a bigger announcement next year. I admit, I am still fascinated by all the awesome flats this park has acquired within the last ten years. To put this out there, I honestly would love to see a family woodie come to the park, something for everyone not just enthusiasts, are current family roller coaster's are a bit to rough and fast for little one''s, but that's coming from the fact my son loves Little Dipper at SFGA and our Mine Train is a hit and miss for him.
  7. Yes I understand the cost would be high, I mean a 2X4X8 treated pine goes for almost $8.00, multiply that by many linear square feet and add the costs of concrete, structural engineers, and permits that would need to be pulled. The cost would go well above $15,000, heck even $30,000. But with them already having permits pulled for a new ride/demo, engineers already hired, and heavy equipment on the site; I say half that cost is already cut in half. But again I understand that it will not be financially feasible for the park unless they got something that needs to fit in that space, and like someone said earlier all they probably will do is a botched job leaving some of the go-cart track in place for later removal. I am just saying it would be smart to get it all done at once. I mean if you build that one foot deck, and decided to build stairs later, how efficient is that? The problem is getting Six Flags Corp. to give the park the money to do other important things, heck asking for a new queue would be like asking to sell a kidney and a foot.
  8. I can see that costing twice of the boss queue since that requires removing multiple concrete pads and walkways and possibly a full station remodel to handle crowds better, Boss on the other hand is mostly wood and some concrete supports. Take the bridge down, straighten or move the entrance before the tracks, follow the helix back and zigzag back up to the station. I mean if they got the equipment and spending money to tear out the go-carts, why not fix the queue in the process. And don't get me wrong, I am just a enthusiast who like's my home park, but I know they most likely won't move the queue any time soon as cost and other projects are first. I also understand that like many of us, there are other projects and areas we would like to get to see some TLC and love first (carousel?), we've been living with those queue lines for years now and for some they just don't see the point even if they saves them a few steps.
  9. True you have a point about why now not later, I am just curious if any one would think that as a good optimization to that area, I mean we are a bunch of enthusiast's why can't we think of the "what if's". I have no idea how compliant the Boss queue would be for people who are disabled, I have never gave thought to it until now. But I think it would be "better" as in to upgrade to current standards of ADA compliance as the ride and queue were built in the 2000's, and standards are always changing. "SF Corporate is not looking at aesthetics" - I disagree, sure the aesthetics right now are not important as the ride queue goes over a very bland area anyways. Once the new ride is built, the area would need sprucing up, sure it is not important to others, but the park does try to care about appearances with whatever money they get from Corp. Also who wouldn't want to see an improvement to many ride queues in the park? I mean Batman, Screaming Eagle, and the Boss all could use a little help with modernizing their queue lines.
  10. Boss queue is not being changed. That would be a shame for them not to take advantage of all that open land by not moving the boss queue back and using the space efficiently. Why do they need to do that to put in Catwoman? How would they profit financially from moving the queue? What is the revenue increase that will result from Boss having a different queue configuration? Would it be greater than the cost to construct that queue? Benefit would be better space utilization for future use of other rides in that location, plus make the Boss better ADA compliant. I would not think the cost would out weigh the positives it could give to that area, and its probably cheaper than the cost they paid to restructure the final helix.
  11. Boss queue is not being changed. That would be a shame for them not to take advantage of all that open land by not moving the boss queue back and using the space efficiently. I wish Six Flags Great America is next on that list of removing their go carts, that area is ugly and smells bad of gas. I hope not, the current space is already tight with the Boss queue and now Catwoman, without space optimization I can see it being just as bad as its current location by American Thunder.
  12. No one has yet to mentioned what will happen to the Boss queue line, will it change? I know renders are only giving us a general idea but the way they show the ride queue squeezed next to the tracks makes me wonder if they are keeping the bridge for the Boss. I would have thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to push the queue line back and open that area way up. Also surprised to see the go-carts go, I wonder if they will relocate or disappear like the bumper cars.
  13. I some what disagree, Six Flags Great America went out of their way to buy and restore the Little Dipper from a defunct park, a local treasure to many people who grew up near Chicago. They didn't have to go out and buy a run down coaster, completely dismantle and rebuild and modify the ride to current safety standards. I bet there are other story's like that in other SF parks. Saying it is a museum is a stretch, but you can tell there is still love there for the rides. I wish we a had a Little Dipper at SFStL
  14. To me they look quite good if fake, the footings are strong and in the right areas, it even has a seal of approval. I doubt they would have paid a architect to get the footings accurate just to fool us, saying that there is usually more than one contractor and assistants to site and layout I really could believe someone really leaked this. I think they could have gotten in trouble and possibly found if they showed the other drawings, and reveling who they are. Also note they go to the trouble of covering important details, like ride manufacture and possibly the job and bid number. I don't believe based on this that it would be a launched ride as the footings suggest it goes straight up shortly after the bend from the station, it could have LIMS though instead of a chain to speed up the ride. Also in terms of the return hill, that would be easy to explain, if you look at the supports for the hill they are short suggesting that they will modify and go inside of Voyagers lift hill ((just like how they support the lift hill over the pathway)) and go over the return curve of the Voyager.
  15. King's Island is a elevation and site layout drawing, this is obviously not and considering there are usually multiple drawings made up, this looks to be a simplified drawing showing the location and count of footers needed for the ride. This is very convincing especially if made by a amateur, It would be better if we had a high res. of this drawing as you can see a seal of approval on the drawing but not much else. Also noting the fact there is multiple sheets of same size under the drawing which looks like they are turned over and darker than the first suggesting they also have a site layout. EDIT: One thing that confuses me is the fact there is only one "water" splashdown area, if you look at Divertical it has two. I do not believe this is a Intamin Water Coaster, at least what we know of, as there is supports on the opposite side of the splashdown is longer than the return hill going over Voyager suggesting a lift hill with a standard lift unlike Divertical. I think if this is real, the only part of Pilgrims Plunge used would be the old lift area and the station, the water troughs would be unused and demolished, also I can if HW went back to Intamin they would have them redesign there water coaster without the fancy lift elevator since they had so much trouble with it the past.
  16. That is actually a pretty good way to sum things up
  17. Pound for pound nothing can out perform hydraulics. Example, the lift motors on Boomerang are more than 4x the physical size of the hydraulic motors they replaced and weigh significantly more as well. Just by watching the original prototype and Cyborg Cyber Spin, the prototype goes so much faster, the prototype is already in full spin by the time it is halfway raised while Cyborg is still rocking and continues to rock until the other arm starts to move. No wonder while people are bored, they are being rocked to sleep
  18. Where I live, the next major city is Mount Vernon IL, they have at least 3 billboards along the highway promoting Holiday World and that is 2hrs away, SFStL on the other hand has no such promotion this far out. Taco Bell, the local grocery store, and even where I work all offer some sort of discount to Holiday World, Six Flags none that I am aware of. That's what I am trying to say. Holiday World does advertise locally, I have see billboards as close to 30mins from the park, even driving back I saw at least one billboard telling me to turn back around. I get what you are saying, but Carowinds and Busch Gardens are better destination parks, even when SFStL park is "busy" it really ain't that bad compared to lets say SFGAm. The point I was making was highlighting what prozach said about all the rowdy teenagers roaming the parks, and why are park is such a blast to enjoy during the early opening months.
  19. The crowds are mainly coming from people in the city and surrounding metro, and the crowds are only really bad in the summer because school is out and the park is cheap to get in. The beginning months heading into June are never really crowded if you have to wait in line it is mostly around 15-30m unless it is a Saturday/holiday, and Holiday in the Park I have yet to see a 15+ wait in line on any ride. Now I argue that SFStL is mostly a one and done for a while park for many traveling, most enthusiasts are not willing to make the trek to our park if it is not already in the path of their next park (like SDC or HW). I also think that SF corp. is still not doing enough outside of the city to really promote the park, like for instance I live 2hrs outside of the park and the only billboards I ever see is for Holiday World.
  20. Easy way to be find out if they are satisfied would be if they announced another Tourbillion. I am still curious to ride it, I wonder if the GP soaks it up even they know its a bad ride (Boomerang anyone?) I wonder if any park in the US would install the hydraulic version, I guess cost is the reason Six Flags used 3 phase motors. From what I have seen most people in our area would rather travel to Holiday World than Six Flags, whenever I bring up SF they immediately turn to HW as they like the more family aspect of the park (and free things). Six Flags Corp. is not doing enough in our area to attract more people outside of the city, the lack of the "big" attraction definitely hurts. Have you see the absurd amount of Holiday World billboards there are in Saint Louis, but barely any for Six Flags? On that note, Saint Louis is not a "tourist" destination, we have some wonderful things but not much know about them, City Museum has noted this problem a few time due to the lack of a advertising budget but the Premier Parks buyout is supposed to fix that.
  21. I remember the year it was being built and my first ride after, as that was the first time I had been to Six Flags and the Fright Fest the following year. As for rumors no, the most we know is we are getting a ride, most likely a flat since they are supposedly keeping Tidal Wave. Were it will go, I have no clue, no one hasn't talked or seen any site prep besides the work on Tidal Wave. All we can do is speculate, and hope for the best.
  22. Quick search proves our park is not unique with a dog kennel, here is a website listing every park in the US with a dog kennel. https://blog.gopetfriendly.com/theme-parks-and-tours-with-dog-kennels/ And I looked on SFStL website and they list the pet kennel as free which is awesome to anyone who has a dog traveling with them Also I actually did not know Holiday World offered dog kennel's
  23. I think that was a good call on their part in the long run, even though not ground breaking, American Thunder fits really good with the rest of the parks line up and is a solid coaster for many. As with the toll plaza area, I wonder if there has ever been any talk to repurpose that land, or even turn it back into a picnic area and brighten that area up again. As for the dog kennel, do they ever mention it? I have never seen them advertise or ever point out that it's there. Does any other park in the chain have a dog kennel or is that unique to SFStL?
  24. That is pretty interesting, I wonder what changed? That's long been speculated, and I'd have to assume it's probably true. From what I remember, the station was supposed to be located in the spot where American Thunder was later placed, in 1904 World's Fair near the moon cars? Could be wrong about that. The layout of Goliath was a tight fit for SFOG, so I'd imagine they probably had to change the design quite a bit when the decision was ultimately made for it to go to a different park. If the rumor is actually true I think it's pretty obvious that we all would have liked to have Goliath and it would have given us that "signature steel coaster" that we are still lacking. That would had a very different change and look to that side of the park, I know American Thunder is loved and is a wonder what they were able to squeeze into that plot of land, but still a hyper to draw spectators and fans would have been awesome. Its a shame we couldn't had both.
