  1. @Danrarbc Looks like you hit close to how they will lay out Rookie Racer, interesting though the station will be closer to Boss lift then and also part of it looks like it will over the tracks.
  2. I just wanted to share some photos from Facebook regarding Xcalibur. Other news I'm hearing is that the pizza joint next to Supergirl is being expanded into the arcade and renovated, and that roller coaster trains around the park have been refreshed either with paint or wrap. I'll probably be heading out next weekend if weather is good. Credit: Facebook Also just saw someone on Facebook posting a picture of the dragon wing area blocked off and the wing gone also. 3. Really wish Six Flags would invest in some sort of parking picnic structure like Holiday World does, I always thought that was a nice feature for family's and large groups that don't need a flashy corner of the park to host their picnics. Honestly why couldn't the park invest in that old greenway, turn it into a new modern closed off picnic area for the fancy party's and use the current picnic as a modern tribute to the old antique moon cars.
  4. Danrarbc beat me to it, but I did find some throwback pictures of the park along with the 1971 park map with the picnic area in the bottom left.
  5. Their response to that is to add more color floods to the ride so that way they don't have to go in and individually replace every bulb/led strip that is burnt or broke. And honestly they don't like lighting the park in general at night.. I remember a few years ago during one of their ert/after party events, the whole "western' side past Ninja all the way to mine train was blacker than black. Same can be said by log flume. Parking lot just needs to be ripped out period and start from scratch, figure a new layout with better flow and more "premium" feeling parking spaces and access to them for those who pay for them. I say that should start with the parking plaza and have some automation for those with passes and a quick scan for those with online parking tickets. Add some better parking lot picnic areas like Holiday World does, and more trees for shade in the southern sun.
  6. In the theme of trying to stay positive, under the current CEO trying to make the park name more premium to the likes of Cedar Fair, maybe the "beautifying" is going to be more yearly spread throughout the park. Sure it is nothing compared to throwing big bucks at one major complete park redo; but what we are getting now is more than just flowers and paint. Again sure it's small and nothing compared to the next big thrill, but for locals who go year after year it's nice to see things get less run down more quickly than in years past.
  7. I honestly think the whole park needs new "names" for it's sections or honestly just throw them out. Illinois section is honestly not bad, boring, but not bad. With them redoing Screaming Eagle front plaza and Catwoman's whip, I don't see much happening up there. The only things I would want to see is to remove the facade of the employee restraunt and to blend that into Catwomans whip/boomerang. Tidal Wave area can honestly wait cause I would want to see some big addition there since the park owns so much land back there. For the other areas, I don't see the antique car ride coming back anytime soon just like people has been calling for the bumper cars to come back after all these years and hasn't. Also SF won't move Supergirl unless they really need that space but I think they will just work around it cause nothing is worth moving in the park unless it involves a high priced attraction being installed.
  8. I think the park has been getting better at overall "beautifying" since 2018/2019. Look at it like this, Screaming Eagle had its god awful looking arcade and entrance removed and revamped, the front plaza got a fresh overall new look and opened up with the removal of the ticket booths. The never going to be completely done carousel is getting somewhere, also while Xclaibur and Go Carts got yanked at least we will be seeing their areas hopefully revamp over the next few years. Once we see another big coaster or RMC Boss, I think the park will throw the big money to really shine up whatever area needs it the most. Honest opinion, what area does everyone think needs the TLC in the park? I say the whole "west" area needs to go since there ain't much left over there theme wise. I could also say the log flume area, it's always dead, Shazam should be relocated and possibly find something else to replace the log flume since it's bond to happen anyway. Also I think the toll plaza needs to be refreshed as well, maybe make it a bit more automated scan and drive.
  9. I still want to see the gates/locker/bathroom area get a redo, maybe even modernize/update the worn facades. But it's great seeing so much visual improvements in such a short amount of time around the park.
  10. Looks like the front by the gates is getting some new concrete Can't wait to see what other new improvements they made.
  11. It would be awesome if they had the boat swinging out over the buildings edge. Give the Dragon a bit of an "edge"
  12. Not very optimistic that we would ever get any of the other chains big investments, and sadly that area is also a haunt This park does need something big for the next announcement, would that happen, who knows. Would it be more likely a flat over a bigger coaster, most likely.
  13. They will probably just use the pad for some kinda haunt, and decorate it with flowers in the other seasons
  14. I haven't been since my kid was young, but here are some of the policy's on thier website. I do remember they do have a toddler section though. Hope that helps! Under Rides and Slides, Heights and Restrictions
  15. I haven't heard or seen anything public myself, so I wonder how fast the ride came down. The park did have a flea market going on in the parking lot March 11th and there are a few pictures floating around on Facebook and I found it interesting Xcalibur is still standing in a unknown state. Which previously we've seen the arm suspended upright, now the arm is back down in the photo. I do understand it was a fair ride and they are meant to set up and take down fast. So I bet once they had the components needed removed, they probably dropped the arm and removed in a day or so. But that's my guess, sad the park gave no fanfare to it's removal but this six flags after all.
  16. On another topic, City Museum aquires Sea Dragon Now wonder if they will stick it up on the roof along with the ferris wheel. I say this is pretty cool, but will it be functional?
  17. That was fast, wonder what else has been changing over the last few months. Only a few more weeks before the GP will see what is to come.
  18. This I totally agree on. SFStL not being totally controlled by corporate gave them more flex on how they wanted to see the ride maintained. As time goes on the not so corporate feel is pretty much gone now the corporation feel has it's claws deep in the park. Anyway, I think after doing a total reprogramming of the rides original carnival loop and on top of replacing about every part they could of gave to Xcalibur, it was given a decent life and we were all lucky for that investment. But like Danrarbc said, it was only a matter of time. I would love to see a company get thier hands on the rights and drawings to build a new varation of Xcalibur being how unique it is. Bring back the never built giant version along with the upside down hold to a park in the US that is built to modern ride building practices and I would think you would have a hit.
  19. I'm surprised no one has mentioned but you can see the whole ride from Google Street View. You can even see the trains on the track. Looks like a fun ride.
  20. Ah okay, def. didn't see that back there. I haven't got around to messing around with Planet Coaster, still rocking RCT3 Also I would still love to know what those plans would've been, I don't think still that's going to happen but who knows maybe this whole time RMC has been manufacturing the track needed and SFStL is just waiting on the green light to announce it.
  21. ^That skyline looks weird without the elevated train or Ninja in the background. As much as a hyper looks great in the front, just imagine if they install a hyper or even a giga on the hill behind Boss and Eagle. The station could start where Tidal Wave once stood, and use the hill as a awesome terrian and height beast. Better yet let's just get crazy theoretical and have the first Strata in Missouri on that hill. I'd rather have a hyper/giga over a RMC conversion. I think it would be a bigger draw to the park, Boss would def. benefit but in the long run I would rather see a new coaster to the parks count especially since we don't get to see a massive investment very often. Now if money was no cost to SFStL; RMC the Boss, titan track Screaming Eagle and American Thunder with new GCI trains, build a hyper/giga, new trains for Ninja and Batman, and get one of those skyline terrian coasters to replace mine train
  22. Right! Or we had webcams like the Cedar Fair parks. Excited to see how the park will change up that corner, hopefully not just half-done. Also, less than a month to go before SFStL opens, anyone else going in April?
  23. Interesting that with all the options we have speculated on that they would possibly go so close to Boss, and that they would also possibly need to reroute the queue to Boss. Give props if this is to maximize the max amount of space to squeeze in more rides or a bigger ride, but I wonder if they do move the queue will it have a impact on Boss not being open for a few months.
  24. Sounds like the new management is good at throwing in the towel for old or hard to repair rides. To bad there is not such a thing as a ride museum that goes out of their way to buy and operate old ride, especially so many unique flat rides lost to time. It's like how there is museums that goes out and restore old trains and make them operational. I hope SFStL gives us a good ride to replace Excalibur. Not another Wonder Woman terrible replacement. That Highland Fling is still very missed in my household.
