What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

wow..... i have to say i am a bit nervous about the first drop...did it make you loose your breath? i am not a "drop" person. im in it for the inversions...so the nerves have set in. You should be fine, I never lost my breath. Freefall makes me loose my breath when on my back. As for the letting up, I thought after the turn around there was that straight area that didn't offer much.I thought the turn around was fast as hell. I was thinking today..I would have loved to see a long tunnel starting at the straight track, around the corner and ending at that sick airtime filled crossover. It might seem like I'm nick picking, I am not. I am completely happy with El Toro and can't wait to ride again!

14 rides on El Toro and these are my thoughts The trains lack the T-bar and have more of a staple looking type setup. This is a tight fit for some larger people. It’s not that the bar won’t go down but the all clear is not set till the bar clicks to a certain point. Everyone got to ride but larger people would need some extra help getting stapled in and you do get stapled! Being stabled is not a problem. You feel every ounce of negative g and it’s extreme!! If the bar wasn’t resting on your legs I think you would be in a lot of pain hitting the bar so hard with your legs. I have not ridden Balder but I have ridden Colossos at Heide-Park Soltau, which is a close cousin of El Toro. El Toro seems to have more extreme and sustained negative g’s on the outward run and the turn around is taken at a much high rate of speed. From the ground you can hear the upstop wheels screaming for mercy at the tops of the large outward hills. This is about the only sound you will hear. After the turnaround there is a pretty good drop in the back and then there a moment of rest with some straight track. I consider this the only weak part if the design. After the straight, you bank into a smooth fast left hander which turns into the hill that crosses Roller Thunder. This crossover hill produces amazing airtime in the back but it’s X3 towards the front. This hill also twists left on the way down which makes for some laterals. At the bottom of the crossover drop is the twister section. I was amazing how well these Intamin trains articulate and track thru this area. It’s fast and powerful and not as controlled as I would have though, which is great!! The last hill or so doesn’t do much, but at this point you are ready for a breather. The first drop on El Toro is one of if not greatest first drop on any coaster, Expedition G-force included. EG has a nice slow roll-over which is lets you soak in the terror and gives that evil kickoff in the back. El Toro’s lift is so fast it almost seems like a shuttle coaster. The lift doesn’t slow down at the top. In the back of the very long train there are actually some laterals on the lift hill turn around (not Twister Craziness) While the first drop in the front seat is fun, you are going so fast you don’t really get to hang and check out the sites, but this is what makes the back so amazing down the first drop. The drop doesn’t have the large radius MF has and it’s got more speed so the drop is more of a Coney Island Cyclone (in the back) feel to it but taken to another level. You get that out of your seat feeling at the start of the drop but then the ride just presses you extremely hard at against the bar. It doesn’t slam you it more or less feels like it hit the Nitrous button after already being out of your seat. There isn’t a bad seat on the ride. There is air in every seat. I almost forgot to mention the great head choppers this ride has! The bad news is the second train won’t be ready for a while so prepare to wait. I’ve been waiting since the year the Beast open at KI for Great Adventure to get a wood coaster you could really brag about. El Toro is really something to brag about! Congrats to GA!! O Lay!

Photo Trip Report Camden Park by Twisterbret

I think if they slowed it down it would work. There was plenty of sail movement. I wish I would have gotten a second ride. The train still goes clockwise. We were so busy trying to ride everything because I had to drive another 3 hours, I didn't get to take some of the pictures I wanted. One lady was so fat, I made a new game it was called " Find the Breasts". I couldn't tell if it was gut or boob ..they just kinda joined in the middle somewhere. derek has a great gut photo. Next time I'm going back if there is one ..it's with you -
Sounds a lot easy, I do it that way next time. Bret One note - it might be better to include all your photos in your first post instead of putting each one in as a seperate reply. More people will probably look at them that way. Just use the "attach photo" button instead of the "submit" button. Great to see you posting here more! --Robb

Photo Trip Report Camden Park by Twisterbret

Once again I'm a little slow at this photo report thing so everyone has theirs up already Hey look is a rare SkyDiver Kerri! You have to ride with me. CLOSED!! Conner grabbed those handles like he was born to do it. I like the stick idea he didn't even know I was helping. Sometimes I would back off and he would just keep on going. Check out that Mullet!! Stupid Bret Dark Ride!! It wasn't to bad. It was very quite in there. Not one scene made any sounds. These things are brand new. They are fast, a little to fast to do much. Being so new you think they would have added a brake of some kind into the design. Nope, round and round for like 10 min before the ops come out and grab your car to a stop. I'm so glad this was closed, those cables look extra scary! Conner has some concerns because the lead Engine is leaning bad to one side. From this view you could swear the park was really nice. Don't let my pictures full you it's a blacktop parking lot with some rides, a lot of fat people with no teeth, and a parking lot filled with used cars from 1976. Again, if I zoomed out you would see this lake is small and the parking lot just off to are side. Straight ahead is the footings for there removed shuttle loop, which was the Kings Cobra from Kings Island. If you look at the sign you can see it costs 2.00 for that crappy mini golf. Why have 18 holes and you can have 8, 9 if you can the a$$ sticking out from behind the booth At least there is the classic loop going on. Conner's first coaster ride ever! He's 22 months old. He loved it so much I took him on it again. He loves rides and we don't force him on anything. HA HA I bet know one throws all of these kiddie ride photos on here. We all started on these rides and this one is a classic. Check out the rope and how it 's fastened. I forgot all about that. Yes even this kiddie whip has more forces then the lame Knoebels one. I wasn't sure how Conner was going to react to it since there really isn't a seatbelt. One whip around the corner and the G's put a big old smile on his face. Just like his Dad just much improved. Camden Park was a dump that wasn't the 63.00 we paid to get into it. But because Conner rode a wood coaster all is forgiven. West Virginia is most interesting. One lady was so fat, her a$$ matched the front. I swear you couldn't tell one end from the other. All the ride ops got F'd up teeth with TOTS (Teeth on Teeth). But I can say everyone was nice and the food wasn't half bad. If you are single, don't be looking to hook up at this park unless 1 tooth is ok with you. The ride up I-79 was amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Thanks for looking. -
I see a few trip reports on this event already, so I'll spare a lot of the details. You can find more photos on my site plus a high res option. http://www.coasterreview.com/twister/index.php?album=D70/HoliWood%20Nights%202006&mode= We stayed at the Kings Island Inn on Thurs so we could split the drive up. It's been remodeled and we would stay there again for sure. They converted their bar to a Fridays type place called Coasters. There is a Beast Burger on the menu, weighing 3 pounds. You get a shirt if you can eat it but the burger costs 23.00 ouch! This shot is a storm fast approuching. Last shot. If you're bored, you can find more photos on my site plus a high res option. http://www.coasterreview.com/twister/index.php?album=D70/HoliWood%20Nights%202006&mode= The shade was very freshing. Look at those hills! 90 Degrees!! Some walk back shots. Some walk back shots. I forget the name of the thing, but I call it Cone of Death! It was amazing. As always it was plenty hot for 8:45am ERT at the water park. Coaster Freaks Freaks in swimsuits and one 300 pounder in a full wetsuit is something to see. yukk! Looks like everyones having a blast! I know it's only the swings but Conner was freaking out everytime he saw this ride even at night when you couldn't see much. He called it a New New?? "Hi New new" "Bye Bye New New" Imagine waiting 20 min for the train ride, getting locked in a hot metal box, Then driving past scenes with someone with a megaphone wining, Peeeettteeer Peeeetteeerr Pumkiiin eeeeaaated blah blah. When imitate to Conner he cracks up. The curly fries at Kringles Cafe were most excellent. Kerri finding the double loop priceless!! The Legend! It was running slow through the Helix and the Four Corners. I was dispointed. Still a great ride, just not how I remembered it. Santa's Lodge. It's a family run hotel. Well it was the first time I stayed there. The hotel has grown in size over the years. You can still find the owner checking people in.

On the way home from Holiday World we stopped off at a parking lot with rides, called Camden Park. They have the Lil' Dipper wood coaster with classic NAD trains. After taking a spin around I noticed there was smaller folk waiting in line to ride it. A lot smaller then the posted 48 inches. I ask the Op what the deal was, they said it's not a problem with an adult. Riding the coaster and knowing what the forces were I ran down the ramp and got Conner. He looks a little scared in the picture but really warmed up to it during the ride. I kept check his face for reactions. He has loved every ride we have ever put him on. He liked it so much, he was clapping and jumping down the ramp. I took him on for a second ride. Camden Park was not worth the 63.00 it cost us to enter, but Conner's first ride was. Congrats Conner, your first wood coaster at the age of 1 ! Twisterbret PS I believe Robb still has us beat by a mile http://www.coasterreview.com/twister/view.php?dispsize=1024&album=D70%2FHoliWood+Nights+2006&pic=DSC_4560.jpg&start=90&picindex=95&mode=

It is a toddler ride. Thats what makes it so funny. I was never a fan of Viper. I rode it twice. It hurt my neck rather badly each time. -

We had a great day at GA. I don't think I've said that in a long time. The weather was amazing, the staff friendy, and the crowds were pleasant as well. We only live 15 min from the park but this last photo says a lot. -

One last look at El Toro. It could be me but I think El Toro has a more traditional support structure then it's older brother in Germany. Looking through the track I see a lot more bents. I think it makes for a better looking ride. -

Conner just loves the new area they put in last year. He can't get enough of the slides. I hate the static all the plastic slides make. ZAP ZAP -

This is El Toro's second drop. This should provide some crazy airtime. Behind it is the first drop of Rolling Thunder. -

Here is Conner on the Lady Big ride. This is the ride where the Operator thought you must be 54 inches or taller to ride. She even had a 54 inch stick. The signed said must be below 54 inches. Therefore no one is able to ride and she had nothing too do LOL -

El Toro's first drop -
I wanted to post brief trip report. We saw a lot of positive changes with GA. We also found some negative. Some of the negative was opening weekend jitters. Everyone was very friendly. Way too many pictures takers. They are all through the park, it's anoying. We headed to KK which was not running, so we took our son on the Flying Elephents. My wife just stuck him in the seat and she just sat down but didn't buckle themselfs in yet when the ride started. She was screaming to me. I had the Op stop the ride. He had no idea what he did wrong. Maybe he needs to check for belts? I reported the problem to a sup who came over and retrained him. We were not looking to getting anyone in trouble but for the safety of the kids we did what we needed to do. The next ride was the "Lady Bug" or something like that. I was stopped at the gate. The Op said you must be 54 inches to ride. I said "NO" she said yes. I said you need to be over 5 foot tall to ride this ride? I looked at the sign which said no one over 54 inches can ride. Which meant no one can ride. She called a sup over and he corrected the matter. After the opening day jitters everything was great. The weather Sunday was amazing. The park wasn't that crazy and we got to ride plenty. We stayed longer then we plained and we bought lunch so they got an extra 20.00 from our family. We shared our lunch to keep the cost down. Here is a link to a photo and another to the gallery for the day.
