  1. I just left the park, busy cold Sunday. Glad I didn't bother with early entry as the cold (about 41-42) kept a lot of rides closed. Millennium opened around 12:45 and I got on with a 15 minute wait. By the time I got off the wait was almost 2 hours. Thought about grabbing some food and a drink while watching the Clowns at Chickie & Petes but even THAT had a line. So now I'm chilling at Thirsty Pony. I guess I'll try again next week.
  2. Cool report. I am ashamed to say that even though I live 15 minutes from the Hofbrauhaus here in Cleveland, I've never been. Of course, I have Das Schnitzel Haus, University Inn (not really German but ethnic-y enough) and Baloton to pick from as well. Waldameer is an awesome park. I even enjoyed the water park quite a bit. There is enough to do there if you take your time to spend a day. And there's no such thing as too many rides on RF II. I know Conneaut gets laughed at but I am rooting for this little park. If I hit Mega Millions tomorrow night, I'll probably buy it lol. Too bad the Tumble Bug wasn't running, its much more intense than the one at Kennywood. Nah, it was taken down a few years ago. No way that's going back up anywhere.
  3. Yeah, I don't go to the park in Saturdays in October, especially since I'm spoiled with no wait on Tuesdays in May and June. Even when I've stayed the weekend at Breakers, I enjoy the park on Friday and Sunday, and go to Put In Bay or Kelley's Island on Saturday.
  4. Maybe they can get the people behind the Geauga Lake Gofundme to invest. They have plenty of extra money.
  5. But both the topic and the original post are a question, so obviously you wanted someone to reply.
  6. There is some info about the battery on CP online if you dig around enough. You can also drive around to the Marblehead peninsula and visit the Confederate Cemetary on Johnson Island. Pretty much all traces of the prison is gone, but the cemetary is nicely maintained. My girl and I were approached by a friendly security guard for the island and we chatted about Civil War stuff. Ot isn't a huge place but if you are a history nerd like me it's pretty cool.
  7. I believe the hotels were already closed. Usually on Sept/Oct weekends they open Friday and Saturday night and are closed by noon Sunday.
  8. Cool report so far. When I first saw you were staying a week I thought, as amazing as Knoebels is, that might be a bit much. But clearly you found lots of other things to do. I'd be cool with the cabins, if they threw a hot tub on the patio. I've gone done to Hocking Hills here in Ohio a number of times, a lot of the remote cabins have hot tubs. It's a fun experience, especially during a winter snowstorm!
  9. Was there any kind of farewell ceremony for Witches Wheel? I don't think so. A thunderstorm came in around closing time, cutting things short. Park was pretty packed yesterday. Getting in around 12:30 CPS lot was full. I luckily found a spot as someone was leaving.
  10. I got a ride on Dragster yesterday morning around 10:30am. After that it was down for most if not all of the day. I don't think it was mechanical as I occasionally saw it cycling empties, it was wind related. Unfortunately there was a steady wind coming from the south off of the mainland, which is bad news if you are wanting to ride Dragster.
  11. Finally made it to Knoebels on Wednesday an wow! How the hell did I not get there sooner! I want to say thanks to those on here who have given wonderful advice over the years in the preceding pages. Not that you need too much advice with a park as good as this. Bill - the pierogies were good. Not better than my grandma's, but she's deceased, so I can't prove it. I got two orders. Flying Turns, Phoenix, and Twister were what I was most eager to ride, and they all delivered (lol at Phoenix not having ejector air, are you kidding me?). But a lot of fun was finding kooky rides that no other park would consider operating. Looper - that thing is nuts. The dodgems are the best I've been on. Black Diamond was a total WTF moment but still fun. The Haunted Mansion is the best dark ride I've been on. And I did get to properly snap the Flyers. Biggest surprise: Scenic Skyway. That thing was intense, for a ski lift. Going up to the top of that mountain and looking down upon the park was really cool. And it was a nice long ride. All in all a very worthwhile trip. I'm really glad I decided to visit Dorney BEFORE I went and not after, or else I might have left Dorney after an hour or so.
  12. So yesterday I went on Demon Drop for the first time since it left Cedar Point. First ride of the day for me. The car ahead of me got stuck at the bottom where it transfers to the lower track to go back to the station, so I got stuck at the very top for about 15 minutes. One of the ride hosts came up to the top to keep me company and took a pic for me. Nice way to get a look around the park lol.
  13. I'd say wait until Monday morning when you are at the park to decide. A lot of Ohio schools are already in session, so that may temper crowds. Also check and see what the weather forecast says. If it says scattered storms or something like that it will keep some people away. On the flip side, you may have more visitors from Michigan than usual. Also factor in that the park is only open until 8pm. But I think a big factor is also what you get to ride Sunday. If you ride everything you wanted on Sunday you probably can get re-rides on what you want pretty easily.
  14. The "back road" is the Chaussee. It was the 2nd road to Cedar Point, it opened 50-60 years before the main causeway. It is currently open to the public although over the last several decades more and more signs have been put up to dissuade the public from using it. It is a nice drive under some weeping willows until you get to the lake, then you make a sharp left and go past a lot of expensive homes for about 4 miles til you reach the park. It only makes sense to take it if you are coming from the east. Unless you just want the experience. Rumors have been around for years that it will be closed to the public. In my experience the time taking the causeway vs Chaussee is pretty much the same.
  15. Sorry to hear that Andrew, being an adult sucks sometimes. I'm still planning on Dorney & Knoebels next week. What's the rain policy like at these parks? I assume Dorney being a CF park will e-stop everything at the slightest hint of rain. How about Knoebels? I know not every place will run rides like Waldameer.
  16. The park had a publicity shoot for SV this morning and I got picked to attend. Got 5 rides in before 9am, and hopefully the shoot will launch me into stardom! Lol. Really cool of the park to involve fans into something they can use for promotion.
  17. I like CCMR for the memories, I'll still ride it occasionally, but it's not a super thrilling ride. The height requirement is pretty ridiculous. I can remember as a kid, parents were allowed to bring real young kids on the ride as long as they held on to them. That ended when someone let go of their kid and he fell out sustaining some injuries. Whoops!
  18. All of these weird teases are interesting. Or they are one big amazing troll. But either Mine Ride is on it's way out, or it is getting some sort of update. (Photo credit CP Food Blog) Mine ride tease
  19. Heh that's what I figured. I think 8 hours will be fine, my girlfriend wants to hit up the waterpark so she can do that while I marathon rides.
