God I love this park so much. If it wasn't for this site, I might have never got to visit. I had so much fun there last year, I wish I could have spent 2 days. My Dad rode the Flying Turns at Euclid Beach when he was a kid, I need to get him out there in 2020. He'd love it. 5-6 hours from Cleveland but I think he'd find the trip worth it. -

On a busy day, FLP can be well over $100. That price you found is a good deal. It might exclude some days, however. -

Aha! So the REAL reason CF paid 260 million for Schliitterbahn was to get extra staff for Halloweekends. Brilliant! Kidding aside, that is interesting to know. I guess if you have a labor pool willing to truck themselves all the way from Texas to Ohio you might as well take advantage. -

Aaaaand.... Gold Pass is staying at $99 thru Jan. 5. Although the season is now over so not as good of a deal as buying in August. Still a ridiculously good deal. -

According to those who have to time and patience to listen to the police scanner, traffic was backed up on to Rt 2 this morning, there were several traffic accidents, near fights with people out of their cars screaming at each other in road rage, and a drunk man causing trouble in the Castaway Bay parking lot that required them to call for help from other cities since they didn't have enough officers to handle it themselves. I've never thought I'd be happy to be at work instead of Cedar Point but... -

Sorry folks, the Parks closed. The HUGE EFFING TRAFFIC JAM out front should have told you: EDIT: Dorneykid beat me to the punch by 1 minute. Sorry for the repetitive post. -

They should relocate it to Dorney just to troll them lol. When I rode Possessed at Dorney I liked it better than WT. The straight drop is more thrilling then the twists, which surprised me. -
Should observation towers make a comeback?

I went on the Wonder Wheel years ago with a friend who lived in Manhattan. I was there mainly to ride Cyclone but she told me that we had to ride the Wonder Wheel too. I had no idea what we were in for. Halfway through the first revolution I noticed she was nervous. I asked her what was up and she said, "I just realized every other time I've been on this I've been high. This thing is terrifying sober!" That woke me up a bit. I enjoyed the ride though. -

From what was stated by the park, they didn't want to push the Forbidden Frontier area too hard in it's first year, but they remain open to using it in the future for Halloweekends. I'm with you though, it seems ready made for Haunt stuff. Which I am sure is by design. -

^^ maybe not as much complaining, but certainly more debate beforehand. Mainly whether it was going to open 2017 or 2018, the height, speed, drop angle, if it was going to be a launch, etc. You know, really cool stuff that only the coolest of the cool can understand. -

^^^ yeah Haymaker sorry about your luck. If there wasn't ERT tonight I'd bail. Although I still might considering they are predicting more thunderstorms at close. It sort of cleared up a bit, hope you can get some rides in. -

I'll also give a vote of support for taking the train, for the reasons stated above. I took Amtrak to Chicago and back for a Hawks game and had a great experience. Heck I might take it to Buffalo to check out Darien Lake in a few weeks. The only word of caution I'd give is about transportation around Sandusky. It really is the middle of nowhere and while there are Uber drivers, my experience has been it is spotty late at night. There are also a few small cab companies, but it might be best to call them and arrange something in advance. -
Well this counts as something new at Dorney... My one and only trip there the weather was lousy, so didn't get to check out the water park too much. But even though the weather was crap, it was still packed, while the dry side was pretty empty. So while some may whine, this is a solid move for the park.

I can't believe I missed this. I went to Waldameer about 3 weeks ago, and I agree with DBru it's a perfect fit. Having been on a few giant Frisbees and similar rides I wasn't sure if I would be impressed, but is a lot of fun, especially doing a full flip over the top, it throws you for a loop. (Horrible pun intended.) What I thought was really cool was throughout the day, it had a decent sized crowd just WATCHING the ride, almost in awe of those who had the nerve to ride it. Also Ravine Flyer II was running great. I love this coaster, I can't believe it took me until last year to ride it. -

I've never understood the love for Melt. Around these parts it seems to fall into the old "If you are from Cleveland, and you don't love everything that is from Cleveland, you are anti-Cleveland and the hell with you" mindset. And yes that is a real thing, and I'm totally susceptible to it, and I still don't get Melt. But to each their own, the location is cool, and they look to have a good selection of beer. -

Lol if you want "Cleveland Style" BBQ (is that a thing?) you can go check out some of the places on the east side, in semi-sketchy neighborhoods, like Hot Sauce Williams, Open Pit, B&M. One that is really good is on the westside, not to far off of I-90 if you are driving through to CP. Bubba's Q is pretty damn good and worth the stop if you have the time. But let's be honest, if you want good BBQ and you came to Cleveland you went the wrong way. A great corned beef sandwich or some pierogies? Sure we can help you out with that.
