Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I disagree with the Festival food not being practical for most families. The amount of food I got for the price of less then 2 Chick-fil-A dinners was enough to easily feed a family of 4. The festival food is better then most of food offered in the park. If people would rather have long waits for Chick-fil-A or Panda Express it works for me. Less time to wait in line for the better food for me. -

I have never experienced any food not sitting well at Cedar Point. I am surprised Melt doesn't sit well will so many of you. I am 40 and not much bothers my stomach. -

I love it but mostly cause it's one of the better options for good food in the park. Give me Melt over Chick-fil-A or Panda Express. The best part is there never is much of a wait unlike most of the quick service places. -

No Marina but there is A/C which is needed on those hot days. They do have other sandwiches, the Philly Cheese steak one is really good too. -

Yep, exactly right, on both counts. Although the beer selection at Melt is pretty great. I love Melt more then Dave's. They have some of the best sandwiches and love the beer selection. I love the Monte Cristo, deep fried ham and swiss sandwich. -

I'm not surprised it's dead on busy days, people would rather spend $15 for one meal at Chick-fil-A over getting tickets for Frontier Festival. For some reason the sit down restaurants never seem to be crazy busy. I love it cause I never have to wait for a table. I like taking a break from the heat in air conditioning. -

You said give up and go to Applebees and I said what if you don't like Applebees? I am supposed to bother trying to look for anything else then? -

What if you don't like Applebees? According to you just give up. Why are so grouchy towards people all the time? -

I have always wondered where people go to eat after the park when it closes at 10. I have its only fast food open late in Sandusky. -
Take CGA out of the analysis then. It still applies to Kings Island and Cedar Point. The last 2 coaster additions did little to spike attendance compared to what Levaithan did for Wonderland. Aa far as Cedar Point goes, Gatekeeper and Valravn had a bigger spike in attendance then Steel Vengeance did. I am getting these numbers from TEA. The whole point of this thread was asking why that happens? Did you miss the part where I said Canada's Wonderland is the only major theme park in the Toronto Metropolitan area? Cleveland and Cincinnati combined don't have the population of Toronto. I didn't miss that part cause size of population has nothing to do with a new coaster giving an increase in attendance. Look at Cedar Point, they saw a bigger increase in attendance with Gatekeeper and Valravn then they did with Steel Vengeance. None of that has to do with size of population. If you go by TEA Kings Island didn't see much increase in attendance with their last 2 coasters added. Again nothing to do with size of population.

I never said they were cancelling the expansion but it seems they are delaying the rumoured hyper coaster. If the RMC Raptor had a big impact in boosting attendance then Cedar Fair would have announced it. Look at Wonderland so far this year since adding Yukon Striker. The last few Fridays the lines to get in the park have almost to the parking lot. Last year I don't remember seeing any days like that. When I see that, it made me wonder why other Parks don't see attendance boosts like Wonderland having when adding a big coaster.
-
It may have seen an increase in attendance but maybe not as much as they hoped. As far as the other Parks go I based it off the TEA attendance figures they have put out. I realize there are a lot of variables involved but adding a major coaster should give a big boost to attendance. The only reason I can think of is the that a lot of people aren't drawn by big thrills as much anymore and want a different experience.
-
After hearing rumours that the CGA expansion is delayed cause the RMC raptor didn't boost attendance like they hoped. Got me to wondering why some parks coasters draw people to the park but at other parks it fails to bring in many people. I have heard that Kings Island didn't get much of a boost for Mystic Timbers or Banshee. Look at Cedar Point, they add in one of the best coasters in Steel Vengeance, and it didn't do much to draw people in. Then you look at a park like Wonderland and Leviathan boosting attendance. Carowinds had a big boost after adding Fury 325. Why is it that coasters draw at some parks but not at others?

I am heading to the park sunday and staying til Tuesday. Looking forward to checking out the Frontier Festival, more so than the coasters. The weather looks good for Monday, hot and humid. I am hoping it keeps some people away cause of the heat. I remember hearing last year the reason people stayed away was it was too hot. I never understood that. Rain is about the only thing that keeps me from going to a park. -

There is lots Wonderland does great but at the same time for a park that's in the same chain as Cedar Point, food wise and advertising wise they could do a lot better. I look at how Cedar Point does festivals and how well run they are. The food is also a lot better overall at Cedar Point. As far as advertising, Wonderland does a poor job of letting people know that the platinum pass exists. I have had more then once a worker at the front gate look at my pass weird as of they have never seen it before. -

Has anyone gone to Frontier Fest this year? Last time I went was 2 years ago and found it to be very good. Was wondering if the changes are better? -

Wonderland is my home park and yes the food is pretty bad. The Backlot Cafe I have found to be the best bet for food though that's not saying much. I have never could figure out why Wonderland is ao different compared to other Parks in the company. Early entry is only on Sundays, platinum passes are never mentioned, and no sit down restaurants. The food festivals don't seem to be much of draw like the Frontier Festival at Cedar Point. -

I agree but I really see them expanding the waterpark first. I rarely go to the waterpark when I go as I find it too crowded. They need to make it bigger somehow. They may have to remove Minebuster. -
Was at the park yesterday for the first time in a long time. The last time I was there Moto Coaster was still a swimming pool. A lot has changed since then but there is still a lot thats the same. What did surprise me was how quiet the park was. Everything was a walk on yesterday. I found Ride of Steel not as smooth as it used to be. Tantrum is my favorite coaster at the park now. Got to ride it 3 times. Ignite the Night was a fantastic show and I am glad I stayed to watch it. Overall I had a great day at the park. One thing that I noticed is the park really needs a paint job on a lot of things and the park needs more lighting at night. All in all its still a good park. Just needs some TLC.

Las Vegas Area Attractions Discussion
Stealth1 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love Vegas and would love to go more often. I haven't been in a few years and I still get free offers from MGM for free rooms for 3 or 4 nights. The reason I don't go is the flights from Buffalo are too expensive right now. $700 return is a lot considering the last time I went it was close to $400. -

I have never found the food to be bad at Cedar Point. Then again I don't usually eat at quick service. I usually go to Melt or Chickie and Pete's -
As far as the festivals drawing people into the parks. It may work for some Cedar Fair parks. I know at my home park of Wonderland the food fests don't seem to do well. I rarely saw people buying food from any of the vendors. The Fire and Ice fest at Cedar Point was the same. Hardly anybody was buying any of the offerings. All that said if the coasters don't draw the people like they used to and festivals don't draw a lot either. What needs to be done to draw people through the gate
