My gut tells me that this isn't a Cedar-Fair-specific problem. The economy as a whole was up for a long time and over the last year it plateaued (and showed some volatility). SIX and FUN are highly cyclical. Cyclical companies follow the market and FUN is following the market. The sky is not falling but they still probably expected their huge new additions to help them outpace the market a bit and they didn't. I wonder if the new program they are starting for pass holders getting rewards for the amount they go to the park will help. I just think its odd that the year Cedar Point adds arguably the best roller coaster right now, they have a down year. I remember when they added Valravn the wait times seemed higher then Steel Vengeance on a lot of days.

Maybe this past year was a one off regarding attendance cause normally a new coaster brings attendance up. Weather wise at CP any time I went this year, which was a lot, was mostly hot and humid. Unless that keeps people away I can't see weather the reason atleast for CP. If it does end uo being that coasters don't draw in the GP anymore. I would like to know what it is that people want from these parks.

I find that the food tends to be better at sitdown restaurants over the quick service ones. The service atleast at CP is usually better too. -

I find the food average at best. They really are missing a signature sit down restaurant. I would love to have a restaurant like Melt at Wonderland. -

I went quite a few times this summer and wait times were never that long. I get the love for halloweekends and the way the park is decorated for halloween. I am amazed how so many people choose to go to the park now versus in the summer when its warmer and not as crazy as a Saturday in October. -

Thats why I usually eat at Melt or Chickie and Pete's. If I am going to wait for food I would rather wait inside and get better food then the the offerings at Dragon Inn. -

Quick question. I was at Cedar Point a few weeks ago and tried the fire and ice festival. I thought the food was really good but noticed how few people were buying it. Same goes for Wonderland when they have their food fests. Any idea why more people don't buy the food? Do yoy think they may stop having more of these food fests? I know Wonderland didn't have the food truck weekend this year. -

I think its just for the main queue as at Wonderland the Fast Lane queue doesn't usually have a line jumping problem -

Apparently Wonderland is handing out tickets to hopefully stop line jumping. They hand them out in chronological order and collect them as people enter the station. If the numbers fall out of sequence they know there are jumpers and can deal with it. Hopefully it works and other parks can start using this. Wonderland has a problem with line jumpers on a lot of their rides and its mostly families who send 1 or 2 in line then the rest of the family join them after they have waited for awhile. line jumping ticket -
While true it doesn't explain lower attendance at Cedar Point. They just added one of the best coasters in the world and it didn't draw people like expected. I still they are missing out on not telling people about the Platinum pass and their other parks. Most people know about the Six Flags gold pass but not many know about Cedar Fairs Platinum pass.
-
I am glad they are moving to a 12 month payment plan. Easier for me to afford $15 a month versus $30 a month. As far as attendance being down, they do a bad job of advertising the Platinum pass and they other parks it includes. With Six Flags you know what other parks they own. My home park of Wonderland only advertises the regular season pass. I think if more people knew about the Platinum pass and the other parks in the chain more people would buy it.

If you're looking to take a break from the park while in Sandusky, take the ferry to Put-In-Bay. I had no idea it exsisted til I went a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't even feel like Ohio. -

If you can get downtown Sandusky the ferry from there stops at Cedar Point marina and its only $5. -

I don’t think everyone’s going to complain that they aren’t using “normal” (old) B&M OSTRs. A majority of the park’s regular guests from the area have never experienced or seen an old B&M OSTR, unless they’ve ridden coasters in the USA or La Ronde. I agree cause judging from most of the people I talk to when I am at Wonderland have no idea that a lot of other parks exist. They know Disney and Universal but not a lot outside of that. One thing that has me confused is Wonderland announced the Gold Pass but only really promote the regular season pass. -
I think Darien Lake mainly sees people from Buffalo and Rochester who don't want to cross the border (because its a pain especially in Niagara) or want to deal with Toronto traffic I agree the traffic is an issue but crossing the border isn't much of a problem. I find crossing the Rainbow bridge has less traffic and is much easier to cross at.

They offer a gold pass now but you wouldn't know it. When you click on the ticket link on their site only the season pass is talked about. You almost have to look for the Gold Pass link. They offer Haunt and Winterfest for Gold pass and higher but really don't advertise it. You would think that they want more people to buy the Gold pass. -

It will probably the first time I will buy fastlane plus at Wonderland. Cause its my home park I never buy it. If the wait times are going to be over 2 hours like Leviathon was, it will be worth buying -

Another new thing announced is the gold pass which will include Halloween Haunt and Winterfest. From reading the benefits, looks like they are taking things away from the regular season pass. Early entry will be for Gold and Platinum pass holders now. Its about time they offered more things for higher level pass holders -

I think the vertical loop and the helix at the end were to homage to Skyrider. -

Wow...that's crazy. I wonder if its because it's in another country, and they have different standards for amusement rides? The only 2 coasters at Canada’s Wonderland with 54” requirement are Behemoth and Leviathan, both have B&M clamshell restraints. I believe every B&M in North America with clamshells has a 54” requirement. I was also including flat rides which most at Wonderland are 54" too. -

I have been to the park many times and have always wondered what the round building beside Chick Fil-A is/was used for? It looks like its been there for a long time. -

If you think Cedar Point is bad for height requirements try Canada's Wonderland. A lot of the big thrill rides and coasters are 54". My neice who is 52" now could ride almost everything at Cedar Point but at Wonderland there is a lot she can't. Same chain but different rules -

Thats crazy. I can't remember it being ever more then a couple of train wait. This past wednesday it was a walk on all day. For those that complain about the crowds the best time to go is during the week. You think that's crazy? I remember in its early years, waiting an hour for WT! For those that complain about the crowds, the best time to go IS during the week... before June! I enjoyed sub-hour waits for SV, and near walk-ons for everything else! Thats why I usually go the week before Memorial day Weekend. Breakers is cheaper then and the park isn't as busy. -
