  1. I am heading to Cedar Point next weekend and I was wondering what are some of the better restaurants to eat at after the park closes. Last year when I went I ate the Thirsty Pony and it was good. I would like to try some other places in the area.
  2. I am going a week friday and I hope Dragster is running by then. Its one of my favourite coasters at the park.
  3. I was at the park yesterday and it was really busy by mid afternoon. Sledgehammer was running off and on, just like every time I go. I had the oddest thing happen on Thunder Run. It was the first ride I went on when I got there as I was with my sister and her kids. The lights were left on inside the mountain, so you could the track and everything inside.
  4. I was going to post the same thing. I used to go at least once a year with my family when I was a kid. Many times we would go camping for the weekend there too. It was at DL that I first rode a looping coaster. A few weeks ago I was thinking of going down there for the day but after hearing what has become of the park I decided against it and went to Canada's Wonderland instead. It saddens me to hear how bad the park has become. I wish some company would buy this place and bring it back to the way it was. It seems right now that who ever does own the park doesn't care much.
  5. I hope its open cause I would say its my favorite coaster there. Last year I got lucky on the one day as it was closing time and they let the train I was on stay on and go again.
  6. I am heading to Cedar Point the weekend of August 19 to August 21. I went last year in May and I found it to be busy as it was physics week. I am probably going to FL+ for the saturday and sunday but was wondering how busy the park is going to be? I have never seen Luminosity and wonder if its worth seeing? How often is Maverick down? When I went last year it was down almost the whole time I was there.
  7. I have a seasons pass so I have gone twice so far this year and I have noticed a few things that are a bit different since last year. Thunder Run doesn't see as dark inside the mountain like it used to be. You can see light coming in through holes in the mountain wall now. I am thinking its cause of the maze in there for Halloween Haunt. The 2 new rides I really enjoy. The Flying Eagles is a fun family ride. As much fun as Sky Hawk is, it is also very difficult to get it to flip. Part of that I find is that the ride itself is too short. It feels like you just up to the top and then the ride is over. That is the one thing I have noticed the most in the park. A lot of the flat rides seem to have a very short cycle. I rode Psyclone a few times on monday and every time it felt like it gets to the highest point and then the ride is over. One other comment I will make is I think its time they get rid of Sledge Hammer. It seems to be down more then it is running. I think the one coaster that the park is missing is a good launching coaster. I love the Backlot Stunt Coaster. I would put in the my top 3 at the park, and mostly for the launch part.
  8. I can see Universal going away from roller coasters in general though. Judging by the 3 days I was there the shortest wait times were for the coasters. If anything I would have thought Dueling Dragons would have the biggest line-up of the coasters as its in one of the busiest sections of the park.
  9. I had no idea that it was. Even so, its built like an indoor coaster like Mummy but other then the first drop its not much of one at all. There is too much stop and go for my tastes. One thing I want to ask is I read somewhere that J.K. Rowling isn't a fan of the dueling dragons coasters. I was just wondering why?
  10. The launch is the best part. Its a very underrated coaster. I realize Gringotts is newer but it uses the same type of ride system. It amazes me how more people will ride that cause its Harry Potter over one of the best rides in the park. I find Forbidden Journey to the better of the Harry Potter rides. Like I said before I just to get it with Harry Potter. Never been interested in the movies or the books, but kids seem to love it.
  11. I just came back from spending 3 days at both parks I haven't been to Universal since 1993 or so. I can't get over how much it has changed. Mostly for the better but there is a few attractions I find lacking. Shrek 4-d was alright but the effects felt really dated even so I am amazed at how popular it is. It was one of the few rides with over 40 minute wait most days. I remember the Horror Make-Up Show to be much better then it is now. They don't really show much in the show. Mostly seemed to be film clips. I was hoping there would be more detail on how they did horror make-up. The only other thing I was a bit disappointed in was T2-3D. I had never seen before as it was not there the last time I went but I found it to be just ok. Another show where the effects seem dated. Now on to the things I found to be really good about the park. I am amazed at how good Spiderman and Transformers are for simulator rides. The details between the scenes is nothing I have ever see before. Both are fantastic rides and the best part both had low wait times all 3 days I was there. The best ride for me in the park is the Revenge of the Mummy. I have never had so much fun on an indoor coaster in a long time. I must have rode it close to 10 times between the 3 days. For being one of the best rides in the park it never had a wait time longer then 15 minutes. I know Harry Potter is the new kid in town and everyone rushes to that part of the park but how everyone seems to pass up some of the older rides is what I don't get. All 3 days I was there, the park didn't seem to busy except in the Harry Potter areas. I guess, since I have never read the books or seen the movies, I don't understand it. How you could spend most of your day in that part of the park is beyond me. Don't get me wrong I walked around both Harry Potter lands for a bit each day but to want to spend the entire day there I couldn't do. All in all I had a wonderful time at the park and I hope to come back next year when the new rides open. If the new rides are as good detail as Spiderman or Transformers I will be very impressed.
  12. I know most parks do have Fluffy Fluffy Bunnies filled with Medicine and Goo, and most people don't use them. If you look at Cedar Point, they have a few coasters where they have no bins and loading times move quite quickly. If they did that with all rides, the lines would move that much quicker.
  13. I am not surprised you ran into a problem like that there. As nice a park Wonderland is, anytime I go I always seem to have a problem like atleast once in my day. I remember a time when Cedar Point wouldn't let you take any bags or anything you couldn't on the ride with you. You had to get a locker at the front of the park or have some one not riding holding it for you. After reading what you posted I wish all parks went to that system. Get rid of the bins on coasters and make all rides like how Wonder Mountain Guardian is run. It would make lines move faster. I have never understood why people bring so much junk into the park with them. When ever I go to a park all I bring in with me is my keys, my wallet and my cell phone. If you need to bring in a backpack, that's fine but I would love it if all parks made people use the Fluffy, Fluffy Bunnies filled with Medicine and Glue instead of bins on each coaster.
  14. Teenagers at amusement parks are like seagulls at the beach. You just accept that it's their domain, then toss a french fry at them and hope they go bother someone else. I don't mind them, its just the ones that cut in line and are rude.
  15. Wonderland is my home park too. I got a platinum pass this season as I used it to go to Cedar Point. I love Wonderland and try to go a few times a year as I live an hour away. As much as I love Wonderland, there is only one thing I don't like about it. That is the amount of teens that hangout there. The last few times I went and that includes season preview night, I always run into a bunch teens that cut in line and are rude. The park would be so much better if it wasn't a baby sitter for parents and their teens.
  16. I think a lot of those altercations stem from a lot of teens hanging out at parks now. You never see that happening as much with people using fast pass. If parks don't want to use single rider lines why don't they ask for single riders more often then. I was at Cedar Point last week and a couple of times on Dragster they asked for single riders but most times they don't. Its not like it slows operations down a lot cause by the time people put there stuff in the bin they can easily get another rider in an empty seat.
  17. I have noticed that a lot of parks don't have single rider lines. I was wondering why that's the case? I go to parks alone a lot or if I do have some one coming with me they usually don't ride a lot of the coasters. I have noticed a lot of times empty seats on different coasters cause of single riders. Wouldn't be beneficial to send a full train every time?
  18. I am heading to Cedar Point on the tuesday before Memorial weekend. Was wondering how busy it will be and if I need FL+. I have a platinum pass so I can go on the monday for the evening for a bit too.
  19. Went to the park yesterday for the first time since last october. First thing is I forgot how rough Wild Beast is. There is nothing better than riding Behemoth at night. I find Behemoth better than Leviathon. I find more airtime on it. My only real comment is I never realized how much this park has turned into a place for teens to hangout. I didn't have any problems with them but I don't remember it ever being this way before.
