  1. Just to put these two pictures in the same post: The bogeys and wheels are clearly different.
  2. The point for the high price is to limit the people in the fast lane, not to create a better way to cut the line.
  3. FVD is like Newton: if you're not too lazy to learn the program, you will understand it. Another helpful feature of FVD is that you can ride your track without having to export to NL.
  4. It wasn't a train, it was only 2 cars. If it was at the lift, they pushed it back.
  5. I would bet that the past few days they have been testing clearance around the station and brake run to make sure proxys/breaks/harness release switches/etc.. are all in the right place and won't get ripped out by the train when they start full circuits. It's easier to do that with 2 cars. I also bet the people were the mechanics pushing the cars along the track, and managers as well..
  6. ^Nope. you just have to mess with times to get roll to be precise. I think FVD is for people who don't like the transition options in Newton, because basically you are creating the transitions rather than actual roll. You are just warping the first derivative of the roll instead of the roll itself. I personally found that the transition options in Newton are not very realistic relative to coasters already in existence. For instance, in Newton you cannot create a barrell roll ala Hydra where the "roll rate" does not change in the middle of the element, you can only use a transition where the roll rate increases to the middle of the element, then decreases after that. Hard to explain... The only problem I have with FVD is that it is just not as developed as Newton. Newton is much more user friendly as a program, but FVD is more powerful with track design. The option of making track geometrically is really helpful as well, and I really like that you can visualize the forces in FVD better than Newton. In Newton, the force comb only protrudes so high from the track, but FVD is color coated so it doesn't really matter. It's easier to visualize, in my opinion.
  7. ^For me it's the 'lifting your stomach into your throat" feeling. Some B&M's have drops that are more gradual, and you just miss out on that feeling. That's why on any B&M coaster, I prefer to ride in the back. I don't really care about riding in the front of a coaster, because the forces in the back are far superior on the initial drop. As far as Airtime and other elements, I rank that based on the forces in the middle of the train, because the front and back will of course be biased. If the airtime/forces in the middle of the train suck, the airtime/forces on the ride basically suck. That's just the way I judge. I would never judge a coaster based on an experience I have in just one seat on the train, either. There are some coasters where one seat is great and the others suck, but I'd prefer a coaster where all seats are something amazing! I have come to be on the side of "B&Ms are less forceful than before." I have had much more pleasing rides on Nitro than I have on Diamondback. Same for Rapter versus Silver Bullet. I don't care much about being able to re-ride something because what if the lines are long? I'd rather have one great action packed 2 minute ride than re-ride a boring coaster that just happens to be really smooth. Yes B&M make the smoothest coasters out there, nobody will argue with that, but I'd rather sacrifice a little shakiness to have a crazy fun ride (as long as the shakiness isn't too painful). Re-rideability isn't something I'd rank a coaster high for. I want a coaster that will take my breath away, time after time. Nitro did that for me, but Diamondback did not. There are a lot of factors that go into that decision for me, but forces are a big factor that are basically a make or break for me. When I get a chance to re-ride something with great forces, I'd pick that over re-riding something that was boring but smooth. I marathon on Magnum A LOT just for that reason. I don't know how others feel about it, but that's my two cents.
  8. Post some specific questions and we'll be glad to help you out!
  9. I'm assuming the larger chassis are to be safe, considering B&M did not design the forces on the ride so they might as well just keep the wheels the same size to be safe. They look pretty normal, it's just usually B&M wheels are much more covered up. They're quite exposed.
  10. Perhaps they are raising the price of fastlane while reducing the amount of wristbands they sell every day. That way they keep the income from FL the same and keep lines shorter so it will still be worth the raised price. There were certain days last year where the FL wait times at the most popular rides extended over 2 hours. These were mostly Saturdays in July, of course.
  11. Operations: Cp > all parks It is tough going to other parks with exceedingly lower capacity after working at Cedar Point. All you see is everything better they can do. Oh well. I never complain about waiting in line when the result is riding a coaster
  12. Full stop: In a brake segment, there is a 'complete stop' option. Use that, then if you want, choose not to make it a block. Remember to check the "launch" and edit the g's. The transport part should not be set to your launch speed, but rather the speed you want before the train stops. As far as I know, there's no real successful way to make a backward launch except following a forward launch....keep experimenting and hopefully find something!
  13. There is a launch choice in the station segment settings under Transport Device. Check the box then make the G's whatever you prefer and the train will launch directly out of the station.
  14. People use way too many 'if' statements in my opinion, like these professional engineers wouldn't be able to design something that would work, when another company with less advanced technology did it 24 years ago... I think the trains that these coasters have work fine. Steel Dragon obviously had some issues with the trains (probably because of the coaster's size), so they asked B&M to redesign them. If any coasters have been proven to withstand the test of time, I'd say it's Arrows, so why try to mess with that? If something ain't broke, don't fix it I love that they are at least showing some love for this coaster! I haven't ridden it, but with the previous train problems I'm glad they're not just scrapping the coaster or something..
  15. On the last photo, you can see Wicked Twister on the upper LEFT corner. Fixed. Also the first picture, the center of that awning thing is where Space Spiral was.
  16. I love that it sounds like a wooden coaster I thought since it's RMC it would sound smooth like ntag but the wooden track seems to be doing it's job I hope it feels a bit like a wood coaster too, I love that feeling
  17. I was more excited to see this today than to see white smoke.
  18. New pic on Hildebrandt's twitter. Looks like the station is coming along!
  19. As AJ stated, the park pack is simply 3ds objects, and is not necessary to view roller coasters, and he also provided links to places where you can browse and download roller coasters and other things related to the program. There isn't a "download everything" link. I suggest browsing these sites to find what you're looking for, they are very helpful. If you are looking for something specific, we'd be happy to provide links to certain things. Unfortunately, coastersims is out of service and the Park Pack isn't available anymore.
  20. I thought they were getting rid of Golds...
  21. Yes, every day of the season for resort and season pass guests. Not the same. These are way more comfy! (in my own opinion)
  22. I highly doubt that will be a problem with Gatekeeper, because Volcano has absolutely horrible capacity. Which means if there's enough fast lane people, it could very well stop the line. Gatekeeper is a B&M at Cedar Point and therefore will have a good capacity no matter what, so fast lane should blend smoothly with the regular line, just like at Raptor.
  23. Well if you intend to record at 1080, then no. AVI has little to no compression. You'll need an outside video editing program to convert to a more compressed video type such as mp4.
