  1. When I read the subtitle, I was expecting a pic of Elissa with Robb.... Take that, Mr. Signature Move Basher. Hilarious TR. Seriously, it's like you fell into the ACEr Wives Convention or something. I'm surprised you didn't experience more intense seismic activity. Lucky you.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they create a totally new themed area and a new kiddie section LAST year as well? I guess the formula works... El Toro looks amazing and should be a really fun ride. Personally, I don't care much for "tallest" or "longest" or whatnot... as long as it's a fun and enjoyable ride, what's to complain about? I guess my new pipe dream for SFMM is to have them replace Psyclone with a Intamin plug-and-play woodie that sprawls across the back of the park towards Riddler's and then returns to its origin. Only took six years for my last pipe dream (a terrain flyer) to come true at SFMM...
  3. No, it'd make you underwater. Living on "denial" would make you Egyptian. Anyway, I went in May, and it was absolutely amazing. I wanted to go again during the summer but didn't get an opportunity... sometime between now and Christmas, I need to go, though. I still haven't ridden the new Space Mountain yet.
  4. Hilarious captions! As much as I don't want to admit it, HHN looks more and more amazing every year, and I definitely need to make a trip... sometime in my lifetime. Great TR! They gots lotsa skulls.
  5. Dude... a Flyer with 11 inversions would prollly be worse than Flashback!
  6. When adding the wide angle, you do not UNscrew anything. You simply screw the wide angle lens ONTO the regular camera lens. Just screw it into the threads. The wide angle should have come with some illustrated instructions. And Night Mode is typically a feature on the camera, usually enabled by flicking a switch on the camera itself (literally, it's a physical button or whatnot).
  7. Hahaha! Awesome stuff! Altho as far as provactive girls go, the Danish chicks in the new video were MUCH better. Anyway, just wanted to say THANK YOU to Robb and Elissa for organizing all of this and (more importantly) feeding us. Had a great time, and I'd definitely love to take part in another one of these sometime.
  8. In no particular order, my top four: 1. SFMM's Unnamed Terrain Flyer I've dreamt of a terrain flyer for years now, something that twists and wraps around the hill and combines exciting interaction with the environment with a furious ride, and finally it's going to happen. I've always loved Ninja, and this should prove to be a great ride as well. 2. Expedition Everest at Disney's Animal Kingdom This is like a ride out of a RCT Spotlight park... immersive theming, backwards tracks, runaway mine train... Disney's most impressive investment in history looks to be an amazing ride. Picture Matterhorn on steroids mixed in with the latest technology. Eye candy + thrills. Wow. 3. Black Mamba Phantasialand is an absolutely gorgeous park that I really hope to visit one day, and they're certainly not resting on their laurels. This thing looks like another Nemesis hit and is pretty much guaranteed to be a success. We know the theming will be impeccable, and so far, the excavation work indicates this thing will be one wild ride that keeps on coming with the punches all the way to the brake run. BTW, I can't find the concept art for this ride anywhere... does anyone have a link? 4. The Voyage Not so sure about the name, but that's about it. You have Holiday Park: wooden coaster mecca. You have Gravity Group: Intamin of wooden coaster makers already. That's the makings for something special already, but now you pack in 90 degree turns and airtime galore? Oh man, this is gonna be ridiculous. Looks like 2006 will add another top 10 woodie (perhaps 2, with SFGAdv's woodie).
  9. Wow, this is certainly a shocker. I'm used to junk going TO Six Flags Astroworld, not junk possibly LEAVING the park. Business wise, it's a good idea, since Six Flags is in debt anyway. Ah well. It's a "sad" day in theme park history....
  10. Doh! My dates are Oct. 1 (first Saturday... hopefully shouldn't be too bad since it's the first one) and Oct. 20 (Thursday). The 13th is the day before midterm reviews for architecture at school, which means I don't sleep that week. That and 8:00 AM classes on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as 2-6pm classes on M, W, F means that Sundays through Wednesdays and Fridays are impossible for me this year.
  11. Hey Robb, hopefully this doesn't affect things, but my party suddenly grew from me+3 to me+4. So it'll be five people total. Thanks! We are still meeting at Goliath at 2 and the party at 6. Albert "Corkscrewed" Lam
  12. AWESOME pics, Robb! Very cool for us building enthusiasts. And Elissa, you weren't the only one who thought that building looked a little phallic... geez, I need to get out more. Anyway, HKDL is looking very charming, and the setting is indeed beautiful. It should be a hit, despite being undersized. A few expansions should have it up to "par" within a few years... or a decade.
  13. Wow, I got into this late! Awesome TR all around so far! Fat ACEr's swanky hotels, awesome HK architecture, a ridiculous indoor coaster, 85 million escalators, an amazing sky ride... this one's got it all. Great stuff Robb! And BiCoastal beat me to the explanation of the two bank towers. Doh! Albert "One of these days I'll earn enough money to travel like royalty... or at least Robb" Lam
  14. Well, I gotta go with the obvious one, at least for tonight....
  15. Oh wow, I actually got one through! That's pretty awesome, considering the fact that this (along with my other submission) were my first coaster videos ever. So that's quite flattering. That said, these have been awesome. This week's was no exception. PHANTASIALAND Beautiful footage. That place looks beautiful. I love the rapids, the MJ Mine train, the spinning mouse... the way the rides wrap around each other and interact with each other and the landscaping is marvelous, and this video seems to do the park plenty of justice! Definitely love it! SHUT UP AND SMILE Nice IOA footage. I don't think I can ever get tired of it. The Tasting of the Beverly really made this vid, coming ahead of the head bonk at the end. But lovely footage and some good laughs! TOP GUN Pretty cool stuff. At first I thought it was the PGA version (I didn't really read the description obviously), but then I realized my mistake. Still, this one looks like the best top gun of all! Lovely angles and beautiful shots. I give mad props to the cinematographer of this video. BUMPS AND BRUISES Aka The Coaster Masochist Video... this movie hurt! The first thirty seconds had me rubbing my head, back, shoulders, tummy, crotch... just painful. Very, very painful. Just ouch. Words can't really describe it. But three cheers to the brave chaps who possibly sacrificed their genealogical lineage for the sake of entertainment and thrills. It was hilarious and my highlight of the week. And a note about last week's 4D vid: awesome. I wasn't keen on the special effects at first, since a lot of it was just regular filters and seemed almost slapped on, but the greenscreen flying head was amazing (even more so cuz he seemed to be a pirate), and the story was just hilarious. Tremendous kudos here... one of my favorite videos of the contest so far! Comments about my Disneyland vid would be highly appreciated of course. I'll be getting a camcorder this summer (if all goes well) so I do plan on making more of these. The DLR vid was shot with my friend's miniDV.
  16. Bahahaha!!! Floruba was hilarious! Who did the opening narration, you guys, or did you hire someone, or was it actually a sound clip from somewhere that just happened to fit (despite the odds)? Great stuff. The vids have been absolutely crazy-solid. Will comment on the rest later.
  17. Hey, Robb and Elissa... just wondering if you've gotten my video yet. I sent it in last Monday. Thanks!
  18. One thing I never got completely clarified... is Florida's Soarin' an exact clone of DCA's, meaning you fly over California, or is it just the same concept but new film and soundtrack?
  19. Well, remember how the BGT management guy called it a "family coaster" during the announcement of the ride? I know a dive machine doesn't sound like much of a family coaster, but given the video, maybe that term makes more sense now! The recent B&M's seem to be aiming for the average patron's endurance, not the thrill seeker's, so naturally, they're not as intense. For the parks that purchase them, this is smarter, since more people can enjoy the coasters, but for enthusiasts or experienced coaster riders, this means their top coasters won't be changing for a while, since the new ones don't quite pack the same punch. I don't think it's a bad thing, either way, though.
  20. Wow, I never realized WestCOT was envisioned to be THAT nice looking! Most of this stuff was constructed, but I love the original waterfront shopping area idea. And the park itself would have been bigger than DCA is right now. Sounds really cool. I remember hearing about DisneySEA in Long Beach long before I was into coasters (when I was 7, 8). Good times those were... stupid homeowners and Eisner mentality! Awesome find!
  21. This sign's a bit too retro for me... you'd think it was now sponsored by 1980s Atari! Anyway, I love most of the changes going on recently, but I can't profess to be a fan of his sign. Ah well.
  22. Hey, so I finally got around to cutting my files and such. Do you have any recommendations for a cheap but effective way of shipping my DVD submission? As in suggestions for what kind of container to put it in and what type of mail packaging. Obviously, I'd prefer a simple but cheap method. I think TPM sends out their DVD's with "media mail," but I've never actually done this myself, so any guidance would be cool. If I can just go to the post office and get all the right types of envelopes (I'm thinking the manilla types with bubble wrap inside), then I guess that's cool, but if there's stuff I have to go out and buy or whatever, I'd like to know.
  23. LOL! That'd be way over 10.00 in intensity in RCT! But yeah, if it WAS that intense, I don't think any enthusiast would complain at all!
