  1. Part two. This next section of the park is called Temple. It is part of the Londinium isle and The Great Fire goes through one of its buildings. There are three rides situated here. Trebuchet – Topspin ride. The Royal Derby – Double Decker carousel. Vertigo! At The Temple – Drop tower ride. (Inspired by the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, with whom I share the same place of birth.) There is also another station to hop on to the Underground trains. The small building at bottom centre houses The Royal Derby. To the bottom right is Trebuchet complete with water sprays. Temple area from another angle. Closer shot of Vertigo! at The Temple. The ride begins underground.
  2. Thanks for the comments! Things I have learnt since starting this park... 1. Select the scenery you wish to use carefully. 2. I need more windows. 3. "What's a support blocker, I don't need one of those" Yes I do! 4. I have no need for an Inca statue nor a Chinese pagoda. Also, I think it's a real shame the makers of this game didn't carry it on further. They should have integrated it to work with RCT3 to allow 2 different views of the same park. I would also have loved to create the interiors of the buildings and set lighting/physical effects, etc. I had the idea that my indoor pirate ship would be inside a Soarin' style movie screen dome with added enhancements such as wind and water spray. The same goes for the coaster, but with fire effects (similar to Revenge of the Mummy). I'm a big fan of heavily themed rides. Anyway, that is the theory behind the rides so far.
  3. Two part update! The first part is Londinium (old name for London). This is the 'main street' area of the park. Within the large buildings is a twisting coaster with five inversions, named The Great Fire. There are also two slow areas which lead to boosters for that element of surprise. Within the large green building with the brown roof is a pirate ship. There are also plenty of shopping and eating areas within the buildings. I have also built in an underground transport system which stops at other points of the park. Here are 4 views of the 'main street' area of the Londinium zone. This building is City Hall. The entrance for The Great Fire is located behind this. The red building is a recreation of a typical London Underground station and is, obviously, where the entrance to the train is. ...The next update will be for the Temple area of the park...
  4. Looking good! The top of that building reminds me a bit of the armadillo building in glasgow.
  5. I wonder why anyone would want to post a park on that site. Don't get me wrong, there are some seriously good parks on there, but the critisisms border on nastyness. Back on topic... Phantom looks great. I love enclosed coasters and i'm guessing the inside parts would, in reality, be in the dark with perhaps some fog effects. My kind of coaster!
  6. I agree. Whilst Dinosaur is a great ride, Spiderman has a few extras up it's sleeve that are ingenious. The experience leaves you in amazement.
  7. I'm looking to go to Paris DL and I must say I was a bit disappointed having read that all the Disneyland versions have single shafts. ToT in WDW is my most favourite ride there and ,IMO, the whole ride experience is magic. It really makes you feel disorientated and in wonder of how the illusions (if that's the correct word!) work. Then, of course, the drops... I know I will have to wait until I ride a DL version until I can judge for myself, but I feel, personally, the single shaft ride doesn't seem as appealing.
  8. Space Mountain at WDW Magic Kingdom. The ride feels as if it's made from a mixture of chipboard and plastic.
  9. I have only been on 3. One in SF Astroworld years ago (can't remember the name). Detonator at Thorpe park which I thought was horrendous and painful! And my favourite, ToT in MGM, Florida, simply because it's a complete ride, it has random drop sequences and it's a lot more fun in the dark! I've never seen anyone come off that ride without being in fits of laughter.
  10. This park looks very realistic, even from the overview, and Italian Job looks extremely well planned and themed. It's so annoying when I see coasters as good as that as I have spent ages trying to create coasters for my own park, but ended up binning them all so far! Keep up the good work and I look forward to future updates!
  11. Great pics of BPB. Got to love that place for the amount of rides in a small area. Also, glad you gave a mention to Valhalla. People tend to give that ride the thumbs down, but I love it. Lots more fun than a plain water ride. PS to martinb.. Please excuse my lack of coaster knowledge with the wild mouse/dragon fury thing. I am yet to learn all the coaster jargon, etc, but I am sure with the help of this website I will be a fully fledged coaster freak within months, if not weeks!
  12. That ghost train even houses a 'real life' (or dead depending on which way you look at it) ghost called Mr Cloggs. Did anyone meet him?
  13. 1989ish - Python at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay. I must have ridden 10 times that day.
  14. Great photos there! Dragons Fury is one insane ride, has to be the best in wild mouse technology. It's also the best ride I can manage to get my girlfriend to go on more than once!
  15. This park is looking really good so far. I like the use of the 1/4 sized block pieces on the buildings. I've just downloaded them recently myself and they are very useful. I think also the size of the park could be just about right considering there is a hotel being built. That's supposing it will be a kind of Jurassic Park resort. Cool idea though.
  16. Your buildings look really cool, especially the Vengeance station. It was a good option to darken them down a little.
  17. I only own Rct 1 and 2. I'm not sure i'd buy Rct 3 until I knew my PC could handle it's graphics 100%. I don't really like games that stall every 2 seconds. Apart from that, I really cant imagine Rct3 having the playability of Rct2, Although I admit the graphics are amazing and far superior on Rct3. I've always thought that a double version should be released, in which you can switch between Rct 2 and 3 views. That way, I could build in Rct 2 and view and ride in Rct 3. Perfect! ....Better write to the software company!
  18. The main entrance to the park... I originally built a tudor style entrance but didn't feel it gave the ominous atmosphere I wanted to create, so I started again. This time I built something simple and dark, with some flames to make it look more menacing. The castle towers finish off the medieval style. I may add a little more colour or some info boards soon as I feel it needs just a little something extra. Entrance gates to the top right... Entrance gates to the bottom right... Entering the Entrance plaza!.... Close up of Entrance gates... Side walls... And finally an overview of the outside of the theme park so far...
  19. Here is the resort's almost no frills hotel, Knights Inn, although it does have an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and hillside waterfall view. Next up will be the theme park's main entrance and an overview of the outside of the theme park so far.
  20. Thanks for the kind comments. I have a long way to go to be as good as zburns and soren though. Their parks are architecturally brilliant and they are also good at building their parks to scale. Having seen some other rct forums, my park would probably be ripped to shreds in 2 seconds! I’m also not very knowledgeable about coaster manufacturers or types of supports they use. I feel I need to try building some less square buildings too. For what I have planned for my ‘main street’ area, I should be able to learn more about that. Back to the park as it is now. I had left a nice big space near to the car parks, so I thought the park should have an HQ/staff/service type of area. This is a picture of the HQ and admin/office building. This would be the place for staff/management meetings, finances, staff recruitment, construction deals and all the other boring, behind the scenes stuff. And here is the park service/maintenance area. In the foreground is a large yard and greenhouse for growing all the wonderful plants and shrubs that you’ll see inside the park. The large building is a warehouse/factory used for building, maintaining and storing of objects such as benches, signage and animatronics. It is also used for planning and testing of rides/scenery.
  21. for some reason the pictures switched places after I previewed the post. so, just to rectify, the entrance goes through the mountain and then to the car park. Anyway, on to the park's premier hotel, Mystic Manor. A large tudor building with an indoor swimming pool set in scenic grounds. I will make the balconies smaller when I delve into the custom scenery sites. Here is the hotel's very own entrance to the park. No doubt the guests will have exclusive early entry to the park before the official opening times! The hotel also has it's very own private beach, ideal for the annual 25 minutes sunshine we have here in the UK! Also a bar/cafe and changing rooms.
  22. I have played RCT2 for about 3 years now, but had never realised the creative potential when it comes to building scenery until I arrived at this site a couple of months back (and finding out what the shift key does!). Having then browsed a couple of other RCT sites too, and seeing some amazing parks, I thought I may as well give it a go too! Three points to make... 1. This is the first park I have started building from scratch (scenario editor). 2. I have resisted using custom scenery/trainers so far, but feel soon I will need them to improve the park. And 3. I have a habit of constructing symmetrical/blocky buildings, so don't be too harsh on them! This is a resort type park in the UK (hence it’s name) and I have yet to build anything inside the actual theme park so far. I have completed the hotels, car parks, road entrance, park entrance, HQ, park maintenance and staff areas. I'll start by posting the road entrance... …Which goes through the (fake) mountain.... ...…to the multi storey car park area.
  23. Thorpe Park has come such a long way since Space Station Zero! My first ever coaster if you could call it that!). I've always worried about it being so close to Chessington, but they both pack them in in the summer and I guess that Chessington has a more family approach whereas Thorpe park is becoming a thrill seeker park. On the other hand, Alton Towers has a lot of land space. I'd like to see them build a huge woodie or hypercoaster. But Tussards always seem to me to build benchmark rides which are then bettered or made bigger by other parks. They must lose quite a bit of revenue with the parks shut for 5 months of the year. The hotels being built might balance that out a bit.
  24. I feel most nervous when on drop rides. Like someone else said, Oblivion is quite wickedly torturous. But, I particularly hated the Detonator at Thorpe Park. There is the audible countdown, then the obvious happens! Unfortunately I went on the ride when it first opened and there was no countdown. Legs dangling, high up, afraid of heights and too much time to think about the situation does not help! The g-force also takes your breath away. Fun though, in a strange sort of way!
  25. Just from the view of the outside of the park alone, this already looks a fantastic park. You've obviously thought everything through in detail and it shows. Well worth the time. I can just see myself driving up to the car park entrance now!
