  1. Hey Chris and Elissa, Thought I'd resurrect this thread since the date is getting closer. I'll be leaving for my trip on Friday (28th) and probably won't be able to get to a computer easily after that, although I will have access to a Blackberry. I'd assume the meet is still a go seeing as Polar Plunge is that day. What is the best way to get a hold of you guys that day/day before? Feel free to get the PM's flying! Dan
  2. Geez! You don't want to scare the poor guy away from coasters! PCW has to have the biggest collection of headbangers. Vekoma, Togo, Volare oh my!....I'm not bitter! Niagara Falls did just open a new indoor water park resort today though. Its called Great Wolf Lodge and is along the same lines as Castaway Bay in Sandusky. On the good side, its huge and they have a master blaster. On the bad side, they've used every cartoony Canadian stereotype as theming (EH!). I know he's decided on SFMM but I just had to give my $0.02.
  3. Jim summed it up pretty well. I remember trying to figure out what the deal was with DCA's purple boiler. I was able to ride them both within about 6 months of each other and yeah....Florida's is the champ (for now). Both great rides, just one is superior. DB
  4. Hi all, Has anyone outside the US tried to do this? When entering your address info you can only choose from states and its mandatory. Can I just fudge a state and they won't care or are they picky about that? Just trying to save a few $$ by buying this way. Any ideas? DB
  5. Proud to say Millennium Force. Next up: Speed The Ride DB
  6. The Building the Biggest torrent can be found now too. Shout out to trustkill22! You're from my hometown. I grew up on the SC mountain and ended up moving out to Brampton. DB
  7. Very cool! Been waiting a looong time to ride Kraken, Montu, Shakira. This being the Ask Alvey forum I have to ask. How do you do that much in so few days? Judging from the latest FLA trip it can be done, but I'm just curious as to how. I assume tickets are taken care of by purchasing an Orlando 5 Park Flex Ticket and Disney hoppers? Dan
  8. Good stuff as always Jim/Dan/Wes/Joey. Nothing like a coaster with a big ol hoopajoob! DB
  9. Movieguy, are you sure that Magnum has really lost its zing or does it just not seem as good because of newer, larger, smoother coasters that have been built since? I still enjoy the coaster myself, but I couldn't really comment on how its aged since I haven't ridden consistent enough. My pick for a badly aging coaster would be Dragon Fire @ Paramount Canada's Wonderland. An old arrow custom looper. Real rough and lots of headbanging. DB
  10. Sounds good. I'm pretty flexible between the 5th and 10th. I'll be going to DL as well, on the 3rd (a pit stop in Anaheim between Vegas and SD). More of a family thing though. I want to see their faces when they see how tight DL is after visiting only WDW so many times! Keep me posted. Dan
  11. TPR trip to Orlando in Oct eh? Sounds cool. I'd most likely be up for that! Elissa, what parks would you guys be planning on going to. I'm assuming Magic Kingdom and the Universals for the Halloween stuff, but would there be others? I know its waaay early, just thought I'd ask anyway. DB
  12. Hi Chris and Elissa! Not to barge in on your thread, but I'll be staying close to San Diego for most of the first two weeks of May and was planning on checking out SFMM myself some time between the 5th and 10th. It would be great to hook up with you guys at the park on the 6th if that's cool with everyone. (?) Dan
  13. Many thanks for the upload, Ahecht! The Travel Channel isn't as common up here in Canada. Look forward to watching it. DB
  14. Hey all, What about the proposed dragon coaster that was supposed to go in that land? Were those ideas not taken to Universal by former imagineers to make IOA's Dueling Dragons? I couldn't see that coaster being made now, at least not themed to dragons. That seemed to be the e-ticket centerpiece to the land though. DB
  15. I'm going to have to go with the majority and say East wins out. If you look at SFMM, DLR, US, KBF and Vegas vs. WDW, CP, US, IOA, SFGAdv, BG x 2 and Hershey its pretty clear which side wins the coaster/park battle. BTW, where does Texas fit in all this? That said, I still can't wait to hit SFMM and DLR this May! DB
  16. Soren, Congrats on all your accomplishments on your way to doing what you really want to do! If all the support on these boards are any indication, you'll be anything but lonely. Hopefully I'll be able to stop by the pavilion and say Hey someday. Its one of my faves in WS. I even have the stein on my desk at work. mmmmmm.....lowenbrau. All the best, DB
  17. *Inducing* ie. you leave the park with a headache. Poor maintenance is what I'm getting at. DB
  18. Interesting news. Hopefully whoever ends up buying sinks a few bucks in to PCW. Probably the roughest collection of headache inducin coasters....and its the one I live near .
  19. Hey Elissa! I'll be landing in Vegas during the last weekend of April (yet to be officially finalized), spending 3 or 4 days there. I've checked out all the Vegas stuff on the site and plan on checking out the Statosphere stuff and Speed. After that I'll be heading to SoCal from May 4-11th. Planning on hitting both Disney parks and SFMM at least. Then its back to Vegas for a day or two and fly out. Any advice is welcome. DB
  20. I would say ride Magnum first and then check out Millennium. I've always liked Magnum, but it is showing some age in roughness. Millennium is freakin sweet. Definitely my favourite coaster, hands down (Raptor being a close second). DB
  21. Hi all! I've been lurking for a while and decided to make my first post and say 'hey'. This place seems really cool with lots of great people. Big thanks to Robb and Elissa for making a place for all us coaster nuts to chill and share all our good times at parks! That said, I'll be making my 2nd trip to Southern California in May and plan on hitting SFMM for the first time. I was wondering if anyone knew when Six Flags considers "spring", since I haven't seen an actual opening date listed for Tatsu and I'm hoping its running when I'm there. Later peeps, DB
