Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
jedimaster1227 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe it is just me, but I find the Sprayground a pretty lackluster replacement, despite the fact that Roller Soaker was a pretty lackluster attraction. Just seems like a huge waste of space... But if there are bigger plans in the works for that corner of the Boardwalk area, it isn't as silly. I can't imagine they left the Roller Soaker station (queue and all) intact if they didn't intend to use it for something requiring a station in the future. A water coaster or master blaster would make sense, and would definitely explain the contained, low height of the Sprayground structures. Also, why in the world do they need these net structures? -
I think we've moved past the age of "SeaWorld Adventure Park" where roller coasters were the things to add to the lineup. I'd imagine we'll be seeing future additions fall more in line with the two Manta coasters (themed throughout) and Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, with attractions enveloped in immersive theming with equally themed shopping and dining surrounding. If anything, I think Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin's potential success will dictate a good deal of the direction the parks will move forward with for future expansions.

Europa Park Discussion Thread
jedimaster1227 replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It is interesting to see this IP being used by Europa Park, considering the box office returns it made in theaters. For a budget of $86 million (not including marketing costs), it only brought in $110 million globally, with close to $93 million of that being earned internationally outside of the US. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=arthurandtheinvisibles.htm That being said, it appears to be a very rich world to draw upon and Europa Park seems to be maximizing the value of the detailed environments from the film. I look forward to seeing photos and video of the finished product when it opens! -
I'm definitely hopeful that they can reach their stretch goal to make this a Mac-compatible game as well. I'm sure this will run fine on Parallels, but running the program natively would likely deliver better results. That being said, I'm still happy to have given my support, regardless of what platforms the game ends up on.

Nürburgring launched coaster

Nice to see this ride hasn't been scrapped yet. This coaster certainly has one troubled history behind it! -
Alton Towers Discussion Thread
jedimaster1227 replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As unlikely as it is, I think it would be really neat to have the staff wear those facial appliances all the time when working the ride. It's a really awesome way of extending the ride's theme in a unique way! -
Glad to see the Stanleyville Theater was enclosed for this! That will come in handy not only for this show but for any future productions that take place in here--AC was always one of the greatest problems with that otherwise fine venue. I'm also happy to see the Madagascar characters being put to good use in the SeaWorld parks. Universal opted not to renew their agreement for Universal Orlando's use of the property, and considering they were only doing meet & greets, this appears to be a much better integration of the IP into the park. It appears to be a perfect fit for a park needing characters that appeal to older kids and adults. On a side note, I do wonder if Fiends will ever return to this stage for Howl-O-Scream, as it moved to Desert Grill in Timbuktu last year. Aside from last year, I believe it had been hosted in the Stanleyville Theater since its initial run.

If you'd believe it, the company that controls the rights to all of the intellectual property created for Hard Rock Park (not the licensed attractions like Led Zeppelin or Moody Blues) is still operating today with the hope of selling their concepts to outside entities for integration into other parks. http://www.hrpusa.com/

Rye Playland Discussion Thread
jedimaster1227 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm still bummed that Rye didn't choose the CAI Amusements or Legoland proposals. The notion of adding to and upgrading the park just seems like a more solid idea than downsizing for the addition of giant grass lawns. -
No one should be surprised by the outcome of this insane thought... I'm really just hoping at this point that Maximum R.P.M. gets a new home (and the extended track layout that was planned for an eventual upgrade for Hard Rock Park). That is the one ride that actually took me by surprise during my visit to the park... Everything else was just ok.
