Just a quick note to my fellow SFGAmerica home towners... after spending 2 days at SFMM (my first visit since 1999) - as awesome as some of the rides are and as incredible as the setting, I still think we have the best park in the chain with Great America. If my home park has to be a Six Flags (which it does for now), I'm glad it's Great America. Most well-rounded coaster collection and best operations (but our operations are still horrible).

Legoland California Discussion Thread

^Thank you! I might jet in on Friday if I can get away from the rest of the group. My 3 much younger cousins were there a couple years ago, and their past the Lego fascination phase. I was never into Lego myself (Erector sets and Capsella were my things, anyone remember those?) but I always like seeing new parks. And I know I'll like Dragon. -

I can see both bigger Legoland coasters from outside our hotel window. I figured there were only three little cookie cutter credits at the park (and I am kind of over every single little rinky-dink credit) but I found out that the Dragon is a custom, with an indoor section. I really love that kind of stuff, no joke. Apparently they have a twilight admission, you get the two last hours for half price. That will still be about 50 bucks. Is it worth it? Would you guys do it? -
^I thought Viper was mild compared to other Arrows. Felt the same during my rides on it in the 90s. We had the Arrow Shockwave at my home park, and Vortex at KI, so... Taer down Green Lantern! Or fix it/run it properly. I skipped my 3rd day at the park in favor of a shortened day at Knotts today. I'll do a trip report at a later time. I worked the heck out of Magic Mountain the last 2 days. A bit tender and sore today; a good thing in my book!

Come on now, you can be an extreme enthusiast and still be polite and levelheaded -
So you got one of those rides on your first ride eh? Unlucky! Guess so! I felt like I was going to 'red out'. Not fun. Not to mention the pains on certain parts of the body. That's why I call it the "grunt lantern." I'm headed back to the park in a little while… And I always like to give a ride a second go. But I'm not sure about Green Lantern. I've even ridden volares twice. Heck, I rode SOBeast 3 times in a row back in 2005 just to make sure what I had experienced was real! I don't know if I want to have that feeling of all the blood in my body being in my head for a couple seconds. Still exhausted from working the heck out of the park yesterday… and excited to get back today!

Your First B&M Coaster?
JT325 replied to TheCoasterKid211's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Iron Wolf, 1990. I put down my crutches (sprained ankle) to ride that! And then went on a long ass trip with friends to ACE coaster con. Great times! And despite what you may hear, Iron Wolf was AWESOME when brand new. It was crazy good. Then everything went to pieces in the next few years. Kind of like lots of (mostly wooden) coasters of the 90s. I hold those early experiences very near and dear! -

Thanks for the input guys -
^Darnit! And Little Amerricka is closer to Great America than Mt. Olympus! I'd compare it to traveling to Pennsylvania and only going to Dorney for the B&Ms. Ok, not the best example, but you get the drift: going to a state and spending time and (lots) of money at the crappiest place and foregoing a couple of the best places on the planet. I digress... Hopefully you will never have to return to Mt. Olympus again after today. Gawd, Cyclops was a top 5 for me - for years. I hope you still have fun on it. Just imagine it with 6 inches between you and the lap bar, and a sharper breakover/steepness on THE DROP. The first drop is (was?) killer in the back seat, too!
