  1. Quite the adventure! And I'm totally wowed by the GOURMET European selection. What a foray into FOOD! (Can't believe escargot is on the menu!) Bravo DISNEY for expanding your culinary imagination! I wanna be a taste tester Alice
  2. Re: Dear Evan Hansen Review Appreciated your fluent review of Dear Evan Hansen. It gave me a good 'feel' for the show and the desire to see for myself how it 'plays out' on stage. Evan being a 'villain' would probably work for me, as I have a slightly 'sick' appreciation for things that are "dark." (May explain why Monsters Inc. is one of my favorite animated flicks.) Am still awaiting a musical of the film Idiocracy! If only!!!!!.... P.S. I look forward to your review of Come From Away. Now THAT show is a zinger! Alice
  3. You KNOW I'm gonna like this one!!! Can I take my dawg? She's got a few secrets!! Alice
  4. Happy Birthday, Youngsters! And thanks for making the world a more alive and special place! Alice (fan forever)
  5. Yes, that is a WONDERFUL site....but your delivery of that info has a special flair! Alice
  6. How funny that the Japanese audience of "FIDDLER" identified so strongly with the show. Altho, I guess that its story IS universal! and its haunting yet lively music beautiful in ANY language. (Thanks for that bit of info. You are my Show Biz Wikipedia! ) P.S. I, too, am amazed that Carol Channing was not mentioned in the Awards' In Memoriam'!!!! Unfair and just WRONG! Alice
  7. *A Star is Born!* Such great shots of Kristen - very pro! (It's funny that I never notice her being "short" in your family photos of her. I guess she "photographs" taller.) Congratulations on her newest acting credit! Alice
  8. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Deno's Wonder Wheel is the heart of Coney Island. Sad that this special woman suffered from Alzheimer's. She and her husband left NYers - and people from all over - a one-of-a-kind legacy. Alice
  9. Thanks, NW! This will no doubt be a unique production...and certainly a tad 'offbeat.' But the music is amazing and the plot pretty self-explanatory. (Not to mention Joel Grey! I love that you played Perchik! Like you, I know the libretto so well that when I watched the video, I was singing English in sync. It's definitely a special experience! (Can you imagine FIDDLER in Japan! I'm sure it's played there!) I'm really excited about WEST SIDE STORY. Haven't seen that for ages!! The narrative, music, amazing dancing! WOW! And put together by the greatest names in Broadway history! I'm really glad that a new generation can experience the excitement and magic of this show! Alice
  10. This is one show I have zero interest in. I tried to watch the movie, couldn't get into it. I think it just goes back to my actively disliking "Jukebox Musicals" (Mamma Mia being the weird anomaly.) I really prefer musicals where the songs were written FOR the narrative of the show, not the other way around. It's a shame, I feel this is the first Broadway season in NYC where I'm not really that excited about any show this year and we don't actually have plans for a NYC Broadway trip for 2019, and we usually do at least two per year! Totally agreed on "preferring musicals where the songs were written FOR the narrative of the show....!" As for 2019 shows that perhaps you might enjoy as a family (stuff that Kristen - whom you've often described as an "old soul" - might like), I briefly perused some of the Bdway lineup this year and noted: Fiddler on the Roof To Kill a Mockingbird Oklahoma Little Women West Side Story Just some shows that stuck out to me... (Hate to think of the Alveys missing out on Bdway this year! ) Alice
  11. Adam, years ago I lived in London, and wow has it changed! But ONE thing I'm so happy to hear is that Fortnum & Mason still offers the BEST AFTERNOON TEA IN TOWN! Am sooo glad you got to try it! P.S. That evening shot of Big Ben is -- to revert to Brit speak -- BRILLIANT! Alice
  12. Heaven would be the DVD versions of both shows! (Tho I gotta say that ANYTHING would be tough to top Elaine Stritch trying to perfect The Ladies Who Lunch! while making COMPANY!) Pls DO ask/plead with Steve S. for those DVDS!!!! Alice
  13. Don't it always seem to go That you don't know what you've got 'Till it's gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot --Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi Alice
  14. *COMPANY,* too?!?!?! You're KILLING me! Thanks soooo much for your info updates!! Alice
  15. Alice
  16. Taylor, I am having such fun "traveling with you!' You've really captured so many of the wonderful oddities that make Japan a one-of-a-kind nation and so very different from the "American experience." I couldn't even begin to compare the amazing ways we differ. Viva Japan! & Viva U.S! Alice
  17. As a winter person (January baby), I loved your "Chilly Weekend in St. Louis!" (Would love to ski down some of those "twisters" in the City Museum!) Thanks for sharing those great St. Louis pix! Alice
  18. That's what I call *FANS* !! (I had to look twice at your photos to concur that, "YES! They've gone to Puerto Rico to support their fave show and its incredible actor!) Alice
  19. Like they say: "Vote and vote often!" Oops. I mean "ENTER!!" Wishing you much luck!!! Alice
  20. Carol Channing will be greatly missed! (Ethel Merman had been offered the lead in Hello Dolly, but turned it down!) Carol was definitely a one-of-a-kind STAR! Alice
  21. NW! - Thanks, as always, for keeping us up-to-date on Broadway's current goodies! After the holiday craziness, I MUST check out what should be on my Bdway agenda! Happy Hols! Alice
  22. The reviews are in! What a fun interview, Elissa! Your enthusiasm and good-humor are infectious. A perfect venue for people to get to know more about your role In TPR and how it all works as a "family affair!" P.S. How true that Chip 'n' Dale fans have to collect everything in PAIRS! (Such cute lil fraternal twin rodents!) Alice
  23. Bwahahahaha!! SO much talent -- I can never get over how many artistic geniuses lurk among us...most flying below the radar. Alice
  24. Why am I not at all surprised that KT loved this show, Hello Dolly! I was introduced to Broadway musicals at just her age and was mesmerized by all the same things that enchanted her! She has SO much to look forward to as she explores the "Golden Age of Bdway Musicals," from The King & I; Bye Bye Birdie; Gypsy, Carousel; Oklahoma; South Pacific; My Fair Lady; Chorus Line; Camelot...even Off-Bdway's The Fantasticks. Way too many for me to list. Being an "old soul," she can get an early start on so many great old musicals. ENJOY all the adventures that await! P.S. I was delighted to get a short personal note from Betty Buckley (responding to my TPR tweet) after reminding her of the times my 3 Shih Tzu & her 3 Shih Tzu would meet up in the park! Very nice lady - spectacular voice! Alice
  25. Also, it was the Very First Time, I really learned to actually appreciate classical music! The first piece the Ailey Co. did for the evening was something from The Four Seasons.....Vivaldi. I still keep the Four Seasons Vivaldi CD close by, to constantly remind me of the joy of music and dance, together. Can't think of a better way to learn and appreciate classical music than experiencing its partnership with dance! I had the same experience when I first learned to lo love dance. Such a wonderful way to be introduced to beautiful classical pieces. Alice
