Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

CW is now on the same level as what CF is doing with Carowinds with this amazing addition. Never been to CW, but I am making a trip next year for sure! -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
ripleybl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a Fast Lane Plus pass question for Friday and Saturday. I don't have early entry to the park, so where should I start? Start in the front of the park and work back since everyone will be running SV? Or do we start at SV and work towards the front? Or does it matter since we have FL+? Sorry for the dumb questions, but you all are pros at this park planning thing. -

is that not Famous Daves? I have no idea... The pic was across the waterway with CP in the far distance... Is that Famous Dave's? LOL -

Melt looks amazing and I am definitely going to get that this weekend!!! Every Famous Dave's pretty much went out of business in Richmond, VA (where I'm from). Never thought that place was that great, but Melt looks right up our alley. I saw someone post a pic years ago of some restaurant across the way from Cedar Point and it had a patio right on the water with an amazing view of the park. Anyone know that place and if the food is legit? -

Thanks! Yeah, I guess it really doesn't matter since we have Fast Lane Plus both days. Best places to eat in the park? Chick-fil-a is a no brainer for us, but what are the crowd favorites that are offered with the meal plan? -

Is there early entry with the 2 Day Plus Ticket (includes 2 days of parking, admission, food, drink, and photos)? I didn't see early entry in the description when I purchased the tickets. We also got Fast Lane Plus for both days... Does that get us early entry? I'm assuming not for either, but just wondering. We are heading there this Friday and Saturday and praying to the weather gods that it doesn't storm the entire trip. -
Top/Favorite Hyper Coasters
ripleybl replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
These are my top 5 traditional hyper coasters. Traditional 200ft-299ft coaster with NO inversions (I've been on 12 total). This list excludes the new breed such as Griffon/Sheikra/Valrvn, Steel Vengeance, X2, etc with inversions or over 299ft 1. Nitro 2. Mako 3. Apollo's Chariot 4. Magnum XL200 5. Intimidator 232 I notice that a lot of you have Apollo's Chariot (so do I) ranked pretty high... Even with all of the newer hypers that have popped up over the years... Airtime & terrain makes it amazing for me. Do you think because it's a classic and one of the first B&M hypers that makes it ranked so high as well? Thoughts? -

I agree, but they built the tallest giga (Fury 325) at Carowinds to topple CP's Millennium Force... So maybe the record thing isn't a big issue anymore. You never know now a days as Cedar Fair always surprises me. I mean, I couldn't believe it when they announced I305 at KD! -

You're exactly the kind of person that parks Guest Relations staff HATES! Remind me never to be at a park the same day you are. Are you coining me as the guy that complains to management? If so, that's unfair... I don't have the "let me speak to the manager" type haircut! LOL I just thought FL+ meant it dropped you off right at the station. Also, I am not a hardcore enthusiast, so sorry for not knowing everything. GEEZ!!! I'm pretty sure I am the most fun person at a park... I'd go up against anyone at anytime!!! You heard it! I'm the best! LOL Yes I am being sarcastic -

Please tell me you're joking! I just spent a ton of money for FL+ for a Friday Aug 17th and Saturday Aug 18th... Waiting 15-20 I can understand, but 30-40 for that type of money?!?! Is it like this all the time for people that have used FL+ at CP?!?! -

MF, Maverick and TTD will still have waits in a queue that could be as long as 45 minutes given where the FL+ line is incorporated into the regular line. It's still better than the regular lines that those coasters will undoubtedly have on a summer weekend. Then of course you also have to consider any down time as Maverick and TTD are well known for suffering occasional down time during the course of a day. Valravn dumps you into the station and I hear that SV does as well, so I wouldn't anticipate long waits unless you just happen to hit the FL+ line at the same time as a lot of other FL+ folks. Our wait time on Valravn with FL+ when it was new ranged from a complete walk-on to a 15-20 minute wait behind several other FL+ folks. Not too shabby considering the regular wait time posted was 1.5-2 hours just about every time we went to ride it. I wouldn't think that wait times with FL+ on any of the other coaster or flats should be an issue for you, but as mentioned, it all depends on if you hit a line at the same time as a bunch of other people with FL+, or if the ride is suffering any down time. Thanks! Reading this makes me feel a little better that I dropped $$$$$$$ for FL+ for my GF and I for Friday and Saturday. She has never been to CP and I haven't been since 2008, so I felt like splurging to not have to wait 2 trillion hours to get on all the rides. I'm predicting SV to be my new #1 and I think my GF is going to fall in love with Maverick. -

I'm heading to CP Friday Aug 17th and Saturday Aug 18th... Does anyone know the ballpark wait times for the major rides (SV, Val, Millennium, TTD, etc) with Fast Lane Plus? Thanks! -

Thanks everyone for posting the POVs and onride vids (I'm so jealous)! I don't want to wish August 16th (16th-19th is my CP trip) to come sooner for me because that means summer is almost over... Has anyone posted whether or not the front or back is any better than the other? I'm assuming the back is the best? I am just trying to gauge where my girlfriend and I should take our first spin on this thing -

Exactly 32 days 3 hours 9 minutes and 17 seconds. -UNLESS- It rains... Then it's: Exactly 33 days 3 hours 9 minutes and 17 seconds. Actually, everything is complete and they started testing today! They are on schedule to open SV to the public this weekend- Team 2017! -

I was just taking a look at the webcams on my lunch break and it seems like there are some men on the lift doing some work and the crane is out too! Hopefully we will start seeing some more progress on the lift and drop the rest of the week. -

My girlfriend is wanting to take me to Dollywood Saturday September 30th for my birthday. Is Lightning Rod still down/unreliable? The only reason I want to go is for the food and LR. I've already been to Dollywood a couple of times, so I am solely going for LR. I live in Richmond, VA so it's like a six hour drive. Keep that in mind and I would love to hear everyone's thoughts and feelings. Thanks! -

I agree with you that it will be just as "kick your A$$" intensity as I305, BUT Maverick?!?! Maverick is just a bad A$$ and well rounded coaster. IMO it doesn't kick your butt though. Especially with the same new OTSR as I305... For instance, when do you black out on Maverick? HAHAHA anyway, I think I am going to black out on the SV outward banked 3 hill turn because I am going to be scared to death. -

SV will definitely be the best coaster of 2018, if not taking the #1 spot in the world too! Obviously we all have to take her for a spin, but I can just tell by the POV animation IMO. I'm totally buying the platinum pass as KD is in my backyard and Twisted Timbers looks so freaking amazing too! The question is, what weekend do I head to CP next year?!?! Decisions, decisions... -

4 inversions would be a record for a wooden/hybrid coaster. The current record is 3 inverisions, held by Outlaw Run, Wildfire, Wicked Cyclone, and Medusa Steel Coaster. Ahhh that makes sense. Thanks for the correction -

Is anyone surprised that this coaster isn't going to break the record for most inversions on a wooden/hybrid coaster? Or would 4 be the record? -
