  1. That seems strange considering the park closes at 8.
  2. Why is there such a big marketing conspiracy? What exactly do you think would stop an entry level maintenance worker from going up the lift during a normal inspection/walkthrough/whatever, snapping a pic, and posting it (even anonymously) to instagram?!
  3. The first post said "mainly" Europe/NA; I thought including Japan was appropriate since they normally build reasonably quality stuff (lately anyway) and this ride was closely affiliated with one of the largest US manufacturers. Plus it's just too good of a story to pass up.
  4. Clear winner in this category would be S&S/Sansei's Twist Coaster Robin at Yomiuriland which ran for about 15 minutes before being shut down permanently. https://rcdb.com/6481.htm Of the ones I've ridden, I'll throw my vote in for the Zamperla Thunderbolt at Coney Island which was one of the worst coaster experiences of my life.
  5. I don't either, and I like MM, but the lap bar only G trains are infinitely more comfortable and appropriate for that style of ride.
  6. Wait, what? If they replaced the trains with the 4-abreast lap bar only Gerstlauer trains you'd seriously be against that?
  7. My last ride on Scream was maybe a year ago and it was the smoothest, least shaky ride I've ever had on it. It was quite surprising. Previous rides have had pretty severe jolts especially in the first half of the ride. Nothing I'd consider painful but abnormal vibrations for a B&M (not the typical rattle by any means). Like others have said, I would bet that it comes down to train maintenance and rehab, which is why it makes sense that some have had smooth rides and some have complained of roughness. I've had both experiences.
  8. What on earth causes a beef burrito to be almost 4x as many calories as a steak burrito?!
  9. ^what if they decide it doesn't have any meaningful impact on attendance and it will take them a long time to get their ROI when another capital expense would make them money faster?
  10. ^that RMC was a done deal before the boycott even happened. these things don't just get brainstormed, surveyed, and designed overnight.
  11. Gotta be pretty hard to shop when you're strapped into the train...
  12. ^the park could have experienced some rollback or near-rollback conditions during testing and opted to keep the trims off for a short period to ensure the ride breaks in for the season. Or they decided to make the ride better. who knows!
  13. during the design phase, parks often tell designers what "level" of intensity they want. This could be quantified by G-forces - in other words, nothing stronger than -0.2Gs for example. A park buying a B&M hyper is probably asking for something a little tamer than a park buying an Intamin. Not true 100% of the time but this is generally how it works.
  14. ^if it's anything like twisted colossus's little bump, it'll be the least memorable part of the ride. it's basically just a way to kill some space left over from the old layout. way better than flat track, but nothing to get excited about
  15. Nobody's arguing about the TPR rule. It's cool. It's all good. Some folks are now trying to say that OTHER sites and unrelated people should be bound to the same rules, and complaining that they're violating a rule that hasn't even been clearly publicly stated by the park - which is a whole 'nother ballgame.
  16. ^ that would be the "please don't trespass" post (which is absolutely valid and absurd that they'd even have to do that). It is not the "please don't post any pictures at all even if they were taken miles away" post.
  17. ^ I get your point but I haven't actually seen CP say, publicly, that they don't want any photos posted online... and in fact they didn't seem to have a problem with photos being taken (for the most part) at the enthusiast event. I am in no way suportive of trespassing and I totally respect that Robb has asked for photos to not be posted on TPR. But a site like reddit is not exactly a place where you can email a single point of contact and tell them to block certain content, and the pics I've seen have been taken with a zoom from perfectly legal places, so it's one of those things that just sort of is what it is - and I can't see why the park would spend too much time worrying about that. Coasters are built in plain public view all the time and people post photos of them all the time, this isn't really that different.
  18. I haven't ever physically purchased a ticket at dollywood but don't they have computer systems that keep track of these things? in other words, it doesn't matter how many stacks of punch cards or whatever you have lying around, you just ring them up in the POS as you sell them. They set a limit of x express-line sales for the day and once x is reached across the whole park, the system says they're sold out for the day.
  19. ^ Right there with you man, I totally get why people love magnum but it's never done anything for me, even back to 97 (pre B&M/Intamin hypers changing the game). Not my style of air, don't care for the trains, etc. but it is a gorgeous location for sure.
  20. ^not sure how you can get that from those pictures, but ok...
  21. ^ Intamin of the 1980s was quite a bit different than Intamin of the 2000s... they were mostly still brokering Giovanola's work.
  22. unless there's a particular ride you really want to go on at SFA, or something you missed out on at KD (which will be better next year, surely), then I'd stick with knoebels.
  23. How exactly is this a "top hat"? In the past hasn't that always been applied to hills with vertical entrances and exits? This just looks like a hill. Weird banking, but just a hill. (Yes I know there are no rules around this, it just seems silly to call it a top hat... unless I'm missing something.)
  24. MF line went well beyond the tunnels on opening day (which was technically a "preview"/special ticketed event). I was there that day and saw the line. Friends generally said it was around 4h (including breakdowns, and I seem to recall only 2 train operation). I didn't ride it though, went back later on when it wasn't so crazy. But other than that, CP rides generally haven't gotten the 6+ hour craziness that KI always seems to, although they may have come pretty close at times. Ohio is all about their parks that's for sure. Anywhere else I've ever been for a ride premiere has been very tame in comparison.
