  1. It's always had one, although I've heard it gets packed too to the point where you'll only save 20-30 mins off the normal wait. So if the line was 3 hours expect to wait over 2 hours even for single rider. When I was in the park in July 2016, I went to the ride straight after park opening. I managed to get two rides in less than 30 minutes via the single rider queue while the main queue was already over an hour. Later on, I got another ride with a queue of approximately 45 minutes while the main queue was well over 2 hours, maybe even 3. It is difficult to estimate since, in my experience on that day, Universal Japan often tends to show a wait time on the signs far longer than the actual wait time, but the single riders line should spare you some time. Of course this is only my experience, maybe I was just lucky. On the same day though, I waited almost one hour in the single riders queue for Hollywood Dream, a little under the main queue wait time.
  2. ^^^^^^ Awesome post, thanks for sharing! I also like Helix way more than Kanonen, but it's still sad to see Kanonen go. It is really a fantastic ride with its powerful launch and its compact lay-out. Great to hear that another park bought it though.
  3. Amazing park! I loved how everything looks brand new, not only the newer rides like Acrobat, but also the older rides like Corkscrew, Looping Star and Shuttle Loop. And indeed, White Cyclone must be the most beautiful woodie. So clean! Glad you had a good time.
  4. Thanks for this report, Universal Japan really is amazing! Didn't the staff use metal detectors at The Flying Dinosaur anymore? Last summer, every guest was checked by a staff member with a hand-held metal detector. It didn't bother me though, operations in this park are just incredible. Wish every park had operations like this one. The Flying Dinosaur is my favorite flying coaster, but I didn't ride Tatsu yet. Which one do you think is better?
  5. Nice! I can't wait to see more updates. Asia is really awesome. I didn't know Nagashima Spaland was open in winter. Are all rides operating?
  6. Great to see such a big Intamin being build in Europe, especially for me as a fan of Intamin coasters. I think its ride experience is something in between Millennium Force and Intimidator 305, although those two are hard to compare. The Vekoma also looks outstanding, but I'm sure it will be placed somewhere else.
  7. If I count every park: 1. Duinen Zathe - 30 minutes 2. Drouwenerzand - 50 minutes 3. Sybrandy's Speelpark - 60 minutes But since only some of the Dutch fans would recognize the names above, some of the bigger parks are: 1. Slagharen - 70 minutes 2. Walibi Holland - 75 minutes 3. Avonturenpark Hellendoorn - 90 minutes. I'm not quite blessed in terms of parks nearby, but it could be worse. At least the public transport system in the Netherlands is decent, which is very useful with free public transport for students. It takes longer than going by car but it is not that bad.
  8. A rapids ride themed to noodles and a spinning coaster themed to a clothing factory...no need to say why Japan looks like an awesome country to me.
  9. I'm more a fan of spreading kiddie rides across the park, although I understand it is easier for parents and kids to have a lot of kiddie rides in a small(er) place, but this area just looks great, as expected from Europa Park.
  10. I made a plan and I wonder if you have any tips or see major flaws in it. I know it is quite a heavy schedule but especially the sightseeing days are very flexible. Maybe I put too much sights in 1 sightseeing day, but this is just to have a list of interesting sights. The days around Tokyo are subject to change since there is so much to do in and around Tokyo, I am not quite sure yet what to visit. Sorry for the double-post.
  11. You're totally right! I'm also planning to see some culture, which is indoors for a big part, so in that case, I've a flexible schedule.
  12. Thanks for the answer! Sorry if I was vague. I don't mind warmth at all and rain is not ideal, but nothing to be annoyed about. Now I know what to expect. I think I have to keep in mind I probably will miss some rides due to rain; not ideal, but being in Japan is awesome on itself.
  13. Hello, I'm Meint. I have been following this site for some time now and decided the make an account some days ago. I am from The Netherlands and of course, have visited theme parks in Northern en Western Europe but also in the U.S. Pleasure to meet you all!
  14. Interesting. I just checked 4 different reputable websites and each said practically the same thing about rainy season in Tokyo. Rainy season starts in June and stretches through July. Late July is less rainy than early July but still one of the wettest months. Thanks for the answer! I guess the differences between websites were the differences between early July and late July then. I think I just have to be lucky when I decide to go in July. The warmth will be a bigger problem I hope, as many sources say.
  15. Hello Robb and Elissa, I plan to make a trip to Japan this summer in which I will visit themeparks and also some culture. Since I will not be able to depart before the 8th of July, my concern is the weather. I read on some websites July is quite a rainy and warm month in Japan, but on other websites, I read it is not that rainy. While I don't mind warmth, lots of rain would be indesirable since I read themeparks in Japan tend to close their rollercoasters with the tiniest bit of rain. So, my question is, do you, and/or other members of TPR, have experience with travelling in Japan in July and could you tell me how bad, or maybe good, the weather was? Thanks in advance!
