B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
psaulaferraz replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haven't tried any of the new ones, although I've been on a bunch of coasters with the classic OTSR. I usually don't find any problem with them. On Dragon Khan I can find some headbanging in the entrance to the cobra roll or even in the Zero-G, but Nemesis and Oblivion were butter smooth. -

Thanks for you answer, We finally had a great day, there weren't any crowds and Nemesis and Oblivion were walk-on all day. We arrived at 11 and left at 17, so we only were there for 6 hours and we were able to hit everything without fastpass. Scorecard: Nemesis x4 Galactica x2 (x1 Vr/x1 non Vr) Rita x1 Thirteen x2 The Smiler x1 Oblivion x2 Runaway Mine Train x1 Spinball Whizzer x1 Octanauts RCAdv x1 Reviews: Octanauts Credit whoring, love the whale in the middle. 5/10 (For the whale) Runaway Mine Train The only good part is the operator saying Choo-Choo every time you pass the station. 5/10 (For the Choo-Choo) Nemesis This was the first major of the day. We went first in the middle and I thought it was great, and right after we went for the last row and I sat in the far right seat and it was insanely and extremely intense. What an amazing (and smooth) coaster. 10/10 Galactica First we went for VR and I thought it was OK. There was too much going on in the screen and the headset was impossible to hold in my head for me and my partners. After that we rode it again without VR and it was much more enjoyable. A good thrill-but-not-intense coaster. 7,5/10 Thirteen I thought it was a little bit more of a family coaster. We sat in the back and the first drop had really good airtime. The backwards section was quite powerful too. We went again later in the afternoon in a middle row and it wasn't as good. Fun 7/10 Rita I enjoyed it a lot. The normal line was 20 minutes and there was a 15 minute line for front row. We went for it and it was definetly worth. A good launch (not very powerful but OK) with good pops of almost ejector airtime and a bit of Intamin twistiness. 9/10 Oblivion I was disappointed because I expected more airtime in the first drop. Also too short to ride it if there is a long line, but it was walk on all day so we went again. 8/10 Smiler Good multi-looper. Smoother than what I expected and with good inversions. I loved the bunny hops before the cobra-rolls and the other similar element which I don't remember. 8,5/10 Spinball Whizzer Fun coaster, which is worth it if you don't spend too much in line. We went to single rider and we only spend 1 minute waiting. 7/10 It rained a bit, but in conclusion, it was a good day and we were able to take some re-rides in a short time. -

Hi! I'm going to be at the park this Thursday. Any tips for making sure we hit all the coasters? We are thinking about buying the Fast Pass, but we want to be sure it's worth it. What do you think? Thanks for any tips. I hope to take enough pictures for writing a TR. -

Track Spottings!
psaulaferraz replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm pretty sure that the green track is for a Wing Rider, because is the only type of coaster where the brakes/transport parts are not in a "Lowered I-Beam" section of track. It could either be a mini Dive Coaster because of that, but I don't think so because the Mini-Dives have the brake fins on the track instead of being on the cars. -

Although the curves are more banked, they still have a bunch of laterals. The turnaround after the double up is pretty forceful (in terms of Lateral G's). I found the first part to be glassy smooth, but the second part is rough as hell and the last curve just kills you. -

About the retrack on Stampida, I went last week and the first part of the layout was perect: gorgeus banking, some good pops of airtime and a smooth track, but since I entered the tunnels and the trains changed from racing to dueling... Very rough, poor thighcrushing restraints and uncomfortable lateral G's. Tomahawk it's perfect with the Millenium Flyers, a little but good CCI with GCI smoothness. Also, they are opening since last week the Far West halloween walkthrought all year round, but you have to pay 5 extra euros... -

With one day it's tipically enough for riding majors and credits, but it depends on the crowds. Express pass is always available Enviat des del meu MITAB PRAGA usant Tapatalk -

Best Drops....

I've only been in a few number of coasters, but Shambhala's drop is awesome. Also, the new Ferrari land Gigacoaster looks sick (112m of straight drop, just like TTD or KK but without rolls). -

Hi! Shambhala can be a bit of a bitch with large riders. There have been many reports of people being turned away at the station because the lapbars couldn't be locked. It's weird because it has the same trains as some of the American B&M hypercoasters yet this one tends to be more restrictive. However, there is a test seat at the beginning of the line which might be helpful. As for the rest of the park, there should be no problem with Dragon Khan, Furius Baco or Stampida. Hope that helps! Enjoy your day at the park and pray for them to run at least 2 trains on everything... I was there yesterday and there was only 1 train x coaster in every major except Furius Baco. -

Shambhala at Port Aventura. Sweet machine with tons of floater and some ejector (something incredible for a B&M) So pretty!! -

Hi! This summer I'm going to Alton Towers. A friend lives in England and we will visit the resort but for only one day. I know that I can't visit all the places and all the rides in just one day. Are the lines in the Park very long on summer week days? It's necessary to buy the fastpass? Thanks. -

Trains are starting to run thru the track. It seems like they are first testing them with ropes attached to the trains and to the track to be sure that the safety envelopes are OK. You can see the train running (only chassis and two cars only) thru the end of the drop in this photo by PAC: The double spine track looks very pretty -

I'm quite worried about how the lines will go. They said that the coaster has a theorical capacity of 1200 pph, but that means that there will be... a launch after 30 seconds from the last one? And there are also two other problems: - Will PA have the trains working all the time? - Will they improve their operations? If they don't do anything, the lines will be larger than the coaster.
