I saw that early and really take Screamscape with a grain of salt. Few years back they said Raging Rapids was closing at Kennywood for a new coaster. They've said WildWater Kingdom / Geauga Lake was closing almost every year until 2014 then they gave up. I can't see why Cedar Fair wouldn't be using GCI to do a restore.

I was there today and yesterday, didn't see Mean Streak run once and the app today said it was closed. Any reason for this?

Front seat on Phantom's is amazing. I live about 20 minutes away from the park and go every year. Would highly recommend the front seat on that, although I'm sure you'll get more airtime in the back.

Kennywood/Cedar Point is a much better combination than Kings Island/Cedar Point, because of just what you mentioned, getting a classic park in there. May I make a suggestion and check out Waldameer while you are in the area? Free admission, tons of classics and a top 10 woody. Probably about 2 hours north of Kennywood, but all in the same vicinity with Cedar Pioint.

Cedar Fair owns 500 acres in and around Geauga Lake, they are paying roughly 800,000 in taxes on just the Aurora side, which is dead. I don't think WWK will die until at least something is done on the Aurora side. Bainbridge is where WWK sits. At this point, keeping WWK at minimum is offsetting some of the taxes they incur with the 500+ acres. No one is buying this whole lot in the forseeable future, Meijer wants a piece, 40 acres I think, which is actually some of the old parking lot and some unused land next to it. Still leaves quite a bit of undeveloped property/old amusement park. Frankly, it leaves all of it.

I live in Pittsburgh and would recommend Waldameer and Kennywood. Waldameer has a great charm and Ravine Flyer 2 can't be missed. I would skip Idlewild and Conneaut Lake. Haven't been to Idlewild in a decade or more, there just isn't anything really there and half the stuff is closed on a weekday.

I wonder why the waited until mid-Feb to start removing this ride. Why not start in late Sept./Oct, this ride isn't used for Halloweekends? Wonder if this decision was just made in the past week or so.

Noticed this on a few posts on Geauga Lake Facebook groups. Some clean up is happening at the Big Dipper, as evident by the picture attached. One is a fly over from August 2015, one is from Jan. 2016. A few people on the Geauga Lake fan page on the website said that some wood on the Big Dipper has been replaced, especially where this screen dump is from. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Heard on good word, that Great Nor-easter will be fully re-tracked, closing Labor Day 2016 in hopes that it is ready to go by July 4th weekend 2017 from a Morey's employee on Facebook. Does retracking this type of coaster usually take 10 months? This coaster was built for 5.5 million in 1995, they are about to pay the same to have it retracked. Me personally, I love this coaster and how it goes in and out of the Ocean Oasis water park. As long as you keep your head back, it's an enjoyable ride, I'm not sure a re-track of this can really improve it. Has Raptor at Cedar Point ever been re-tracked? To me that's one of my fav coasters like this.

Funny enough, there is a guy in a Wildwood Facebook group I'm in, that works for Morey's Piers. He said about a week back, that the Sea Serpent is getting changes done to it's entrance, as well as the ride itself. Perhaps the 4 million dollar investment is into all 3 major coasters?
