  1. Future Europe's largest wooden rollercoaster very uncertain The future of Europe's largest wooden roller coaster does not look bright. Colossos at Heide Park needs a very costly repair. Therefore, the park considers various scenarios, including the demolition of the iconic roller coaster. This is evidenced by an interview with a German fansite. The largest wooden roller coaster in Europe has been SBNO since July 2016 for urgent maintenance and repair work. Earlier this year, Heide Park announced that Colossos will remain closed throughout the 2017 season. Any details could not be released, but a spokesman from the park said that "it's a replacement of the roller coaster track, which is a very difficult job. An opening date is not known yet, but we keep everyone informed as soon as there is more news," said the spokeswoman. Last weekend, a conversation took place with the fansite "Freizeitpark-Welt" and some Heide Park managers. In addition, the park will come out with an official verdict regarding the future of Colossos at the end of this year. It was also said that the repair of the roller coaster is accompanied by a repaircost which is a two-digit million amount, so a very expensive repair. The park is now looking with its investors and company Merlin Entertainments which decision they are going to make. There are currently different scenarios possible, including demolishing the roller coaster to replace it with a brand new attraction. Source

  3. Efteling gets free FastPass-system The Dutch theme park will launch its own variant of the famous Disney FastPass-system, the Efteling Boarding Pass. Visitors have to reserve a ride, so they no longer have to wait in the queue line. The free service will be tested from Saturday, September 15 for approximately two months at Python, the park's Vekoma Looping Coaster. Guests who want to make a ride in the well-known roller coaster must choose a time slot in advance through the official Efteling app. Visitors without a smartphone can use a special ticket machine. Guests have to scan their paper or digital boarding pass at the entrance of the attraction. Then, they have to wait no longer then fifteen minutes. The Boarding Pass queue will replace the normal queue. The Boarding Pass will have a time slot of fifteen minutes. Visitors can get a new Boarding Pass if the time slot has expired. On quiet days, when the regular queue times do not exceed fifteen minutes, the system will not be activated. Then everyone uses the normal queue without reservations. "We call it a new way of waiting," says a spokesman of the amusement park. "In the test phase, we will keep an eye on the responses of our guests, and then we decide if we continue. For people who love to plan their visits, the system is ideal. Guests who prefer to spontaneously go to an attraction may not like it that much." Source
  4. What also might be a reason is that in case of a collision, there is still a "buffer zone" between the backwards facing riders and the other train. This was not the case with the backwards facing cars on The Swarm, so after The Smiler incident they turned it back into its normal position.
  5. Bobbejaanland closes Typhoon after collision Last week, five visitors were slightly injured because of a collision on Bobbejaanland's most popular attraction Typhoon. Two of them had to be taken to hospital with some neck pain. Since then, the rollercoaster has been closed for research, says Peggy Verelst, commercial director. "Last Tuesday, one of the cars did not slow down in the station. This resulted in a collision at low speed with the car that was waiting to go up the lift hill," Verelst explains. The two passengers who went to the hospital for inspection returned to the theme park later in the day. For now, Typhoon remains closed. Staff of the theme park, TÜV and Gerstlauer are investigating the cause of the accident. It is expected that the roller coaster will open again this weekend. Source

  9. Exactly! I do not understand why we don't hear more of this park. It is for sure one of the better parks that I have done, and I enjoyed it very much. And you're welcome! I really enjoy making trip reports. It is indeed very well themed! Thank you! Thank you! I also didn't know much about this park before my visit, except of course for Alpina Blitz. But it definitely exceeded my expectations. Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed it.
  10. 10/10 Schwur des Kärnan?
  11. Kings Dominion Joris en de Draak or Wodan?
  12. Baron 1898 in the dark, last night!
  13. Thanks! Indeed, Alpina Blitz is a fantastic coaster. Granted, I haven't ridden the Intamin version yet. But if it is anything close to Mack's version, then I am sure it will be another superb ride! Thank you! Nigloland is a very beautiful park, much more beautiful than I expected it to be. Yes, they are a lot of fun! Alpina Blitz and Donjon de l'Extrême are clearly the best rides in the park.
  14. Red Baron 1898 or Griffon?
  15. Well noticed! I did not notice that myself. I guess it is not really breaking the park rules.. Because if it was they wouldn't have dispatched the train, right?
